She expresses predjudice toward her own people and the Felixian race, two cultures that support a healthy slave trade that she has come to despise.
Helynah has no immediate health conditions.
An intelligent free-spirit, Helynah values total independence above almost everything else. She is kind, and doesn't hesitate to help others, but often rejects offers of aid herself purely out of pride. She hates the idea of owing a debt to someone.
She's also ambitious, and vigorously pursues success in everything she attempts. She claims to be a realist and trusts few people aside from herself.
After learning to read and write, she comes to find great enjoyment from it. As a child, she was a fiery spirit that enjoyed gambling and fighting. As a slave, she has little time for finding new hobbies as gambling/fighting was met with severe discipline.
Quick learner, grows to be an excellent writer. She's a talented fighter, too. Although not extordinarily strong, she is a skilled strategist and eventually learns powerful magic.
Stubborness, pride. Her main downfall is the classic hubris, where she nearly fails in her quest for freedom when she chooses not to accept someone's help at least twice before the lesson is drilled into her head.
She's a fiercely independant person, and longs for freedom.
A combination of growing up a street urchin and then living as a domestic slave (where good manners were important to impress her master's guests) has her exhibiting both polite mannerisms and a complete disregard for such behavior. Helynah has come to be very selective of when and how she expresses her manners. She can be very polite and traditional, but only does so when she thinks that it matters.
Orphaned as a child, around 7 years of age. Lived on the streets of Ezera, her home city, for several years. She remembers her age of being enslaved with other street urchins very clearly. Helynah was 12, and was owned by Areos until she turned 17. When she found out he was planning to sell her, she set her escape "plan" in motion. Leaving the familiar world behind, stowing away on a ship then fleeing into the desert with a dragon named Zafnir. He guides her to a trading post in the mountains.
December 1198
She never had a formal education, although she learned how to read and write during her time living in the Mountain Outpost.

In short: An orphan stolen off of the streets and sold into slavery. She runs away at seventeen years of age when she learns that she's going to be sold to traders from Ter Felix. Despite being tough, clever, and fiercely independant, she finds herself relying on the help of unexpected allies over and over again. Her growing group of friends will take some getting used to; it includes an exiled dragon, an eccentric witch and her sapient dog, and a hopelessly romantic wannabe knight.
- Other attributes ascribed to Helynah include: kind-at-heart, stubborn and ambitious.
- She is asexual and probably aromantic.
- Her blue cloak was a gift from her sole childhood friend Nymerielle; and is all she has to remember her by.
- She loves dogs for their loyalty, and intelligence, and objective cuteness.
- Her nickname, Bityl, is a feminine Draconic name that means "Prideful." Zafnir was the first to call her that when they met. He took a liking to it and made sure that the name stuck.
