Rynn
Roughly 400 years, give or take (his appearance puts him somewhere in his late teens) - he's the youngest of all daemons
Male
Him
Item no. #23
Crimson River Blade
Narion's guardian
Tall, thin and toned body
Red messy hair, emotionless face, bright blue eyes, black headband, child like innocence,
A katana like sword, long and slender, dark as black jade, deep and foreboding, smoother than a mirror, with a necklace wrapped around it's guard (same necklace is often seen around Rin's neck when he's in his human form). Upon closer inspection, one can see their own reflection in the blade; there is a one in a million chance that instead of a reflection, one can see Rin looking back.
Upon being summoned, he appears as a cloud of dark and red smoke, radiating from the blade of the sword. He can have any shape or form while in smoke mode, although he always has 2 shining blue orb like eyes.
[The art in the gallery was provided by me]
Youthful face, with high cheek bones and a thin soft nose. He has unexpectedly nice features, mostly overshadowed by his crude haircut and lack of facial emotions.
Ever since his creation, he had a number of different forms (including female ones), depending on the taste of his owner at the time - his current appearance wasn't dictated by Narion, as the child is blind, so it is believed that his current appearance is somewhat similar to the one he may have had when he was still a Morphidae.
He's mostly seen wearing a black skin tight shirt, with a half loose kimono over it. He usually wears his kimono wide open, sometimes with one sleeve hanging besides his body. He has what seem to be knee long trousers, the rest of his legs being covered in bandages. He always has 3 swords tied at his belt and a strange bead necklace with paper shinto amulet around his neck.
In his early days, he wore a more formal outfit, with a large belt and a decorated shirt, with long trousers. Even though his appearance has changed throughout the years, he kept the same color palette, a combination of black, red and grey tones
Around 51 kg (112 lbs) in his current form - daemons have complete control over their body weight, changing it as they please
166 cm (5'5¼") - he is considered to be quite short for a Daemon
Dark red - rumor has it that his hair was originally black, but gradually turned red from all the blood that had been spilled by and because of him
Crudely cut, very messy and incredibly stubborn, wild with long forelocks in front, and a black headband separating the front part from the back - some would say he looks like he had a power outlet accident
Older stories depicted him as having longer hair, with a straight cut and a loose pony tail
none
Cerulean blue - his eye color is the only fragment of his former identity that wasn't destroyed
Daemon
Porcelain towards ivory - like every other daemon, he has a seal on the back of his neck, usually concealed by the turtle neck of his shirt
Rin was originally created without a core, as he was meant to be nothing more than a tool, which meant he had no personality at all.
After being given life, he is shown to be a calm individual, with lively eyes. Given his long time as an emotionless tool, he is very curious but somewhat insensitive about his surroundings, sometimes looking down right naive and child like. At first, he has a hard time understanding what feelings are, but as time goes on, he learns to be a living being.
Despite his lack of knowledge about the outer world and child like behavior, he takes his battles very seriously, wasting no time in taking down his enemies. Even if he was gifted with conscience, he is still the spirit of a sword, meaning he is no stranger to violence. Unlike everything else in the world, violence doesn't phase him at all, since it's what he was created for and he's already used to it - his default instincts drive him to go directly for the kill when fighting, but once Narion explained to him why taking a life was wrong, he now refrains himself from killing and ripping out the essence of his opponent, instead just incapacitating his foe.
While he has no major reactions to other people, he seems to be especially attentive to Narion, his new owner. Ever since he was brought to life by the child, he seems to have developed deep feelings akin to gratitude, respect and worship for Narion. Around them, he is like a faithful dog, following them wherever they go, enjoying their presence, being very kind and gentle towards them, helping them when needed and even expresses great concern for their health state, becoming a type of protective father figure for Narion - he acts hostile towards people he feels are up to no good and becomes down right aggressive with anyone their master deems a threat.
Before he met his current master, he was puppet-like, with no mannerisms at all.
After being given life by Narion he acts more natural, turning his head around when being called by name and generally having normal reflexes. He usually maintains an unimpressed expression and often stops to inspect things if they spark his interest, he tilts his head when confused, his gestures are fluid and careful. He pulls Narion closer to him if he feels the child is in danger, giving a cold emotionless glare to anyone trying to get close.
He tends to explore things through touching, so it's not uncommon for him to touch someone unexpectedly without asking for permission - he usually touches people's faces, pulling at their cheeks, sticking his fingers in their mouth to look at their teeth, smelling their hair, inspecting their limbs or playing with their clothes,
But when it comes to Narion, he no longer dares to be as invasive; he likes to gently stroke the child's face or hair, his touches always light and delicate, as fearing he might cause any accidental harm to the little child - he immediately ceases physical contact if Narion feels uncomfortable. He himself doesn't mind being touched, but he seems to particularly enjoy being hugged by Narion - basically anything that has to do with Narion is pleasant for him.
If badly injured or tired, he will return to his sword form and enter a sleep like state, until asked to come out. At first, he refused to come out of his sword if anyone but Narion asked him, but later started to obey some of the commands coming from Narion's friends.
Non-existent (previously)
Protecting his master (currently)
Alphonse's great interest in him and his past has led him to want to rediscover his former identity
Because he's pretty new to the world, he doesn't really have any prejudices yet, as he's still trying to understand how the world works
He kinda dislikes Hiryur Akoai simply because he's been lurking a bit too close to Narion, and wont hesitate to kick his ass even if the other has no ill intentions
- Unresponsive to most commands that do not come from his master
- He's still learning to be human, so there's a lot of things he doesn't yet understand
- Cannot seem to understand the concept of other people's personal space (except when it comes to Narion).
- He tends to lose control over himself under extreme emotional distress - can and will demolish a city if he's angry enough
- Even though he is ridiculously OP by normal daemon standards, he is significantly weaker in unarmed combat, as his powers mainly lie in the usage of a blade.
- Right after his awakening, he still tends to solve things in quick violent fashion, not hesitating to kill someone if they are deemed a threat
None (former)
Failing to protect Narion - since Narion was the one to gift him with life and was also the first person he laid his eyes upon, Rin has developed very strong feelings towards the child and made protecting them his life's ultimate goal.
He is completely unable to speak or even make a sound.
Cannot experience physical pain (as a daemon, his creation process has numbed him completely)
Since he's a sword daemon, he's insanely skilled with a sword
After spending some time with Narion and their friends, he learns how to cook, much to the relief of Tanis and Alphonse, who couldn't stomach Phoenix's overly spiced dishes - he still needs supervision sometimes as he tends to throw in anything he finds.
He likes to lay down on the ground (preferably close to Narion) and looking up at the sky - ever since he gained a conscience, the sky has always fascinated him.
Other times, he chases around after small animals, usually frogs or lizards, which he likes to inspect closely, poking around their body or examining their limbs
Unknown
Because he's voiceless, Alphonse taught him how to speak in sign language and also how to write. He has little knowledge about the world, so he gradually learns as he goes - he's a very fast learner so accumulating knowledge isn't too hard for him
Rin is a daemon within a sword, the 24th of the 24 items from the notorious Crimson Gear. Created from a piece of stolen Morphidae soul infused in a specially made sword, Rin is one of the best item daemons, possessing incredible agility, speed and strength, far more stronger than that of other daemons.
Towards the project's end days, a Morphidae had been captured and was submitted to the process of creating a new Crimson Gear daemon. During the process, a small mistake was made that allowed to Morphidae to escape before the process was completed. Despite this, the already obtained piece of soul contained the raw power of the creature, therefore being more than enough for the daemon's creation. Due to the issues that had occured, the daemon came out slightly different than the rest, although the difference wasn't visible until long after he was made. While it is unknown what happened to the original Morphidae whose soul was used to create him, Rin has earned himself quite the reputation during the time he was active. Due to possessing an amazing power and no conscience to control how it's used, he was considered "the perfect weapon", as it made it more convenient for his masters, not having to deal with his opposition or having to go through the ordeal of taming him, making him probably the best assassin to exist. Most of his masters used him mainly to solve their own personal matters, except one or two, who actually brought him to a battlefield.
In his early days, he served his masters using his humanoid form, usually acting as an assassin, but as time went on, he used this form less and less, eventually resuming to just being a sword that granted amazing abilities.
After passing through surprisingly few hands, the magic sword was stolen and hidden away, never to be used again, as its powers were considered to be way too great and dangerous. He lay dormant for three hundred years before being discovered by accident by a group of children and reawakened after one of them drew his sword from its scabbard.
At first, Rin behaved like any other daemon would, strictly obeying the orders of his new owner, no questions asked. However, his new master was determined to treat him not like an object, but like a real person and through unknown means, managed to breathe life into the soulless daemon.
From that moment on, Rin stayed by Narion's side as more than just his guardian, slowly learning about what being alive really meant.
The daemon remained entirely loyal to the little child that had awakened him, protecting them from outer dangers and experiencing various events together. His appreciation for Narion grew so much that when he was taken back to the High Priest, he disobeyed all of her commands and even fought back fiercely, which made his creator deem him a "defect", since daemons weren't supposed to be able to have a free will.
Narion (current)
The Head Priest (Former)
Rin is the name given to him by Tanis, for the lack of a better one
His nickname "Crimson River" comes from the large number of people that fell victim to his blades in the time he was under the high priest's control - stories say that when he went on a killing spree, the spilled blood would be so abundant that it formed a "river" - hence the name
Crimson Gear Demon
Daemons usually appear as entities made of dark matter, usually smoke or fire, with glowing orbs for eyes and restraints surrounding them like transparent cages.
If they are asked to, they can take a human form that can vary, depending on the master's preferences. No matter their appearance, all daemons wear a black skin-tight turtle neck shirt, that conceals the seal drawn on the back of their necks
Out of all 24 demons, only the first 8 have personalities of their own, as their soul core was kept intact. These daemons are a little pretentious, as they must first be subdued before they can be used - most of them possess various items, as they were deemed too unstable to be used in actual weapons. Even though their original essence is pretty much intact, they do not recall their previous lives as Morphidae.
The other 16 have no core, thus they do not show any resistance in being controlled. They are often recognized by their hollow, mechanical-like behavior, acting only under the command of their owner - they are considered to be the ultimate servants, as they never question any of the orders they are given, since they do not have a mind of their own.
The very first Cursed Item was created close to when the world was still young. The rest of the items came into existence way later, after the idea of "gear" was first thought of. Many of the prototype items were pretty faulty and hard to use, but in the end, the procedure was perfected and 22 items were created, each one better than the last.
The final two items were created much later, closer to the time of the story. Rin was thought to have been the last Cursed Item to ever be created before the destruction of the experimental facilities, although there are rumors of a secret 24th item, created in secret by one of the last survivors of the project
The items they are bound to can be destroyed, causing the daemon inside it to "die", as they have been entirely bound to the object. The daemon can get tired or injured, but as long as their item is intact, they will survive.
A magic nullifier causes daemons to return to their item form, and the item itself loses any magic for a certain amount of time.
The lifespan of a daemon from a cursed gear item is unknown, usually depending on the lifespan of the object they are bound to - upon the item's destruction, the magic within it disperses and the daemon ceases to exist
The abilities of the daemons are usually closely related to the item they are bound to. Almost all daemons are capable of shape-shifting, regeneration, illusions and even minor healing.
Daemons have the ability to consume the essence of a living being, usually by ripping it out of their chests - this is also how they destroy a Morphidae's Core, their jaws being powerful enough to crush the hard material.
Normal food doesn't do much to them, they can choose whether or not they want to eat it.
Since he is bound to a sword, he can do anything with a blade, including advanced magic, such as controlling all his blades at once, giant slashes, etc, although Rin seems to like ending his battles with an explosion - whether he does it himself or with explosives is irrelevant, the guy likes blowing up things at the end.
The fact that he was once part of a royal blooded Morphidae's soul makes him so much stronger than other Daemons, reason why he was hidden away, never to be summoned again.
Even though his powers make him an overpowered weapon of mass destruction, his new master doesn't allow him to kill anymore
Insanely fast regeneration, shapeshifting, power transfer. He can communicate partially telepathically with his master which is very helpful since he is voiceless.

Even though he learns how to cook, he himself never eats anything
In the past, he used to consume the essence of the people he defeated, but stopped once Narion became his new owner.
A piece of red ribbon tied to his necklace, gifted to him by Narion. He is very fond of it, even if it's just a plain simple piece of fabric
Long blades

Demon sword turned personal assistant/bodyguard
There is a possibility he likes black and white, since it reminds him of Narion's color palette
