Is incredibly good at math, and is quite talented at building things and carpentry. Also can talk sense into people, and make them feel welcome. Quite good with his rapier as well, though isn't as talented as a fighter as Ginger.

Talks with his hands, often does finger guns, taps foot when nervous or focusing, constantly sweeps his bangs out of his eyes. When mad he points his finger at whoever he's mad at. Does that "why" hand meme thing (trying to explain this) when he's confused or just in disbelief of someone's stupidity. Face palms a lot. Does the "sad little anime character in corner Tamaki thing" when humiliated or embarrassed. Often stares at the lotus pendant sadly when missing his sister.

Finding his little sister. He also is highly motivated to teach Ziff to read because of his own dyslexia and the fact the that he dropped out of college. He hopes Ziff might have a better future that way. He does try to help Ginger return to her normal form, but isn't exactly motivated to because secretly he wishes she could remain human.

Has dyslexia. Is incredibly stubborn and isn't afraid to scold or tell his friends exactly what he thinks when upset, sometimes he threatens to make a scene, but usually gets cold feet, which makes it hard to take his threats seriously. Overwhelms people with puns, and they're not even good ones. Also mad at himself for dropping out of college, so has some self-esteem issues. Also can be a bit paranoid and overly cautious/protective, because he's worried that one of his friends might disappear again, just like his sister.

Carves things out of wood, bakes sometimes, usually homemade bread. Before joining Ginger's party, he had a little lotus garden, and would often cut the flowers and bring them to Lotus' memorial.

Caleb is very loyal, kind-hearted, and lovable. He cares a lot for others, and once earning their friendship will do anything for them and stay by their side in even the darkest of times. However, he sometimes will care a little too much, and gets very anxious, cautious and paranoid about what his friends are doing because he's worried they might hurt, or worse, kill themselves and doesn't want them to vanish from his life like Lotus did.
He tells really stupid puns, like "my ear's ringing" "then pick it up." And he says them. All. The. Time. He's incredibly law-abiding and honest, and unlike the sly Ginger and Ziff can't even think about lying. Caleb's also very good with kids, and somehow seems to befriend them anywhere he goes. However, despite this he often argues with Ziff and they both seem to succeed at getting on each others nerves. A side of himself he doesn't usually show is that he's a helpless romantic, and loves a good rom-com. He has an overactive imagination, and may have written a book if his dyslexia didn't make it torture to read and write. He has a habit of stating things like they're absolute facts even if he's not a hundred percent positive, and a lot of times people believe him because of how confident he says it. However, often times Ginger will shoot him down with the correct answer, causing him to get embarrassed and feel stupid.
On that note, Caleb is very easily humiliated and his feelings are easily hurt, whether they mean it or not. This is a side affect of him dropping out of college because of his dyslexia, which lowered his self esteem quite a lot. He often wishes he had stuck it through and gotten a degree instead of giving up. But, even if that left some damage it also helped him grow as a person because now he doesn't give up as easily and perseveres to the end, to the point where he won't do anything else until the task is done.

After dropping out of college, he worked in a little shop run by a friend of his family's. Of course, he quit after meeting Ginger and Ziff so he could travel with them and find Lotus.

Believes that people should be able to live their lives the way they choose as long as they're not hurting themselves or anyone else, and while living noble and honest. However, being Iamatin he does try to follow the teachings of Iama, and feels that whether or not one is Iamastin the Ten Laws of Magic should be followed because they're humane. Despite this, and even though Ginger's curse breaks the Eighth Law, he wishes she could stay human, but knows it's wrong so reluctantly helps her reverse it.

Had an average education, and excelled in math, but do to his dyslexia always had lower grades when the subject involved reading and writing, (magic spells to help with dyslexia have been discovered, but sadly their self-casting spells, and Caleb has barely any Magic Power to use them. And even though his parents tried to help him overcome it, it was still always a problem.) He started college, but, unfortunately it became too much for him, and he decided to drop out, something he's regretted ever since.

Caleb lived in a small house as an only child for nine years. Since he was born with almost no Magic Power, life was pretty normal. But then, they discovered his mom was pregnant again; he was going to be a big brother, and they were all overjoyed! However, they didn't realize how special this child was going to be. In nine months, Mrs. Kaimi gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. They named her Lotus, after the flower that represents purity. And at first, life seemed to be normal, but strange things would happen. A teddy bear might disappear, and one exactly like it but bigger would be found, only for that one to go missing and the original one to be discovered later. Things like this happened all the time. This was odd, it was like the baby was using magic, but children didn't usually learn to use magic until at least age five.
They took her to a mage doctor, (a doctor specifically for mages and calculating Magic Power) and he explained to them that Lotus was born with an incredible amount of Magic Power, so much that it sort of "leaks out" of her. And, if she didn't learn to control it, she might accidentally curse herself or someone else. This scared the Kaimi's, for, yes magic can't last forever, but a curse has the potential to last until the caster dies. And Lotus was two! She couldn't even read, how could she control magic? The doctor informed them that this type of situation wasn't as uncommon as it seems. And, that there was a special island where children like Lotus are brought to learn to control their Magic Power. It's far from the mainland so that no child accidentally curses too many bystanders, plus it's run by many professional mages that are very capable at undoing any curse that might occur.
But the Kaimi's weren't to keen on this idea. They didn't want to drop their daughter with a bunch of strange people on a strange island that's so dangerous they wouldn't even be able to stay with her. Caleb especially hated this idea and promised Lotus that he'd never let them take her away. However, over the next year, Caleb's parents grew more and more afraid. Her magic power was leaking more than it usually did. Teddy bears were becoming gigantic and she accidentally shrunk a dog to the size of her hand. She was turning toys different colors and even turned Caleb's hair a different color (only for a little while though). It wasn't long until their parents grew so afraid that they made up their mind to bring her to the island. But Caleb wouldn't have it! He told them that if Lotus had to stay, he was going to stay too! He had made a promise! His parents tried to talk sense to him, and for a while he wouldn't have it, but, eventually, he believed that maybe his parents were right, and that this island was safer for Lotus after all.
When they began to leave, Lotus cried and cried, not understanding why Caleb was letting them take her. It broke all of their hearts to leave her, but they believed it was for the best. Before they departed, Caleb gave her a gift. It was a headband, similar to the ones he wore, with the silhouette of a lotus flower on it. It didn't fit on her head, but she could wear it as a necklace until she grew into it. He promised that as soon as they can they'll bring her back home, and they'll come as visit as much as they can! And they did visit quite frequently and began to befriend some of the caretakers. Soon the Kaimi's didn't worry as much for Lotus because they knew she was in good hands. But of course, they still missed her and treasured every visit. And after two years, the time to bring Lotus home for good was upon them. They had received a letter saying she was controlling her magic almost perfectly, and that it was safe for her to leave the island. They were all beaming with joy, and Caleb decided to make her another little gift as a surprise. A lotus pendant carved out of wood. He was so proud of it and couldn't wait to give it to her!
But, all that happiness soon vanished with the arrival of another letter. Everyone on that island had disappeared, and the bodies of some of the caretakers, plus two of the children, had washed up on the shore of different islands. The island villages were all destroyed. Despite originally thinking perhaps some of the children were taken, no leads were found, and eventually people could only assume that everyone on the island had been murdered and their bodies flung into the ocean, and they believed Lotus was dead too. The Kaimi's were devastated. Their daughter, their only daughter, was gone. After all, they did to protect her from herself. Caleb felt numb from the pain in his heart. He put the little wooden lotus in a box and put it in front of her memorial.
Years passed. A friend of his families, and in fact the widow of one of the island caretakers, let him stay in the upper floor of her apartment while he was in college, and after he dropped out even let him work in her store, plus taught him some swordsmanship. She was strict, but kind in her own way, and both of them still mourned their lost loved ones. However, one day a little mogril shoplifted some white bread! It was Ziff, and soon after he met Ginger. That's when Ginger revealed to him the truth. Lotus was alive. He could barely believe it. He decided to travel with the fox and wolf in hopes to find his lost sister, and before they left, he removed the wooded lotus from the box and put it around his neck. He was going to give it to her, she was finally coming home.
