Marcus was raised by a single mom, and his mom often partied and was too drunk to take care of him. When he got into the TSSS and met Celia, he knew that he was in love. At the same time, Celia's sister (though he didn't know) told him that he could achieve what he wanted, to run away with Celia, and that all he needed was the orb and that she could show him how to use it. Marcus was blinded by love, and is under Elise Bishop's poisonous spell.
