Trained by his predecessor, he inherited the title and secrets of the “Scalebinder” lineage—a sacred responsibility passed down through generations. Known for his wisdom, compassion, and mastery of healing magic, Vornir has served the Swarm Lords for decades, providing counsel and life-saving aid in times of war and peace. His lineage is regarded as an unbroken chain of loyalty and knowledge, each “Scalebinder” bound to serve the Drakar people until their death, when they pass their knowledge to a chosen successor.

• Hidden Knowledge of Revitalization: Vornir is one of the few beings who knows the ancient Revitalization ritual, a powerful spell he has used six times over the centuries, each casting restoring him to the start of adulthood. As a result, Vornir has lived an astonishing 500 years, well beyond the natural lifespan of the Drakar. To avoid suspicion, Vornir has periodically faked his own death, orchestrating an elaborate ruse where he appears to pass on his knowledge to a “secret student” who then assumes his identity. This deception has allowed him to serve alongside successive Swarm Lords for the past 450 years without drawing attention to his true identity.
• Legacy of the Eternal Advisor: Vornir’s position as the Swarm Lord’s trusted healer and advisor has become a storied tradition among the Drakar, with each “new” cleric believed to be trained by a predecessor. This carefully maintained illusion ensures that Vornir’s long-standing presence is accepted by the Drakar without question, adding to his reputation as a figure of immense wisdom and authority. To the Drakar, Vornir’s “successors” have always been loyal servants of the Swarm, dedicated to preserving and strengthening their people.
• Hidden Gemstone Sites: Over the centuries, Vornir has carefully placed gemstones in remote, sacred locations to absorb natural energy for future castings of Revitalization. These stones require 30 years each to gather enough power. Vornir regularly visits these sites under the guise of “pilgrimage” or “spiritual reflection,” ensuring their protection and maintaining the resources he needs to sustain his life. If any of these gemstones were discovered or disturbed, it would threaten both his extended life and the continuity of his deception.
• The Burden of Knowledge: Vornir’s prolonged life and the knowledge of Revitalization have weighed heavily on him. Though he has guided and supported generations of Swarm Lords, he is increasingly aware that his time may be drawing to an end. Each use of Revitalization has shortened his potential lifespan, and he knows that even with the spell, he cannot extend his life indefinitely.

the Swarm’s Movement: Vornir subtly influences the Swarm to remain on the move, guiding the Swarm Lords toward a nomadic lifestyle. He fears that prolonged stays in any one area would reveal the environmental toll of the gemstones he hides, as each absorbs life energy from its surroundings. Constant movement prevents any visible depletion and allows his gemstones to remain undetected.
