The Smiler
Smiler, the Facelifter
"The Facelifter"
The Smiler's first affiliation would be with COGNITOS: PentaCorp's leader in all but name. Alongside his colleagues in the Corpse Patrol, the Smiler would serve as the cleanup crew for PentaCorp for almost three quarters of a century.
After Coffin-Cutter grew dissatisfied with his servitude, the Smiler would follow him and the Corpse Patrol down the path of rebellion.
The Smiler and his colleagues would then work with the Mechavian forces and their leader Thanatos after the Rebellion.
After Thanatos was incapacitated by a joint attack, the Smiler would once again follow Coffin-Cutter, whose resolve was at its highest yet.
Following the disillusion of the Corpse Patrol, the Smiler's allegiance from thereon out would only be to himself.
Only one person knows what the Smiler used to sound like. He's gone now.
Before the Battle of the C-Point, the Smiler didn't talk at all to his compatriots, instead relying on a crude Mind To Speech (MTS) system to communicate.
After the Battle of the C-Point, the Smiler was captured by BoneHead's resistance group. Instead of divulging the information in his interrogation to the group, the Smiler tore out his Audio Tract, removing his ability to speak.
From thereon, the Smiler couldn't talk; even if he could, he probably wouldn't. The Smiler doesn't even use the MTS software all that much even when most necessary; he instead uses body language and the Mind to Mind (MTM) communications technology, which allows him to project general thoughts into those he wants to communicate with without using specific words. For example, if the Smiler wanted someone to bring him a cake, then his MTM augments transmit a general "feeling"
It's not known what the Smiler's face used to look like, as very few saw it prior to the assault on the Heaven's Tomb's C-Point.
However, the infamous mask that now covers his head is distinctive all the same. The mask appeared to have been made with material coated in pure white, and it featured wires that hooked up to the back of the Smiler's head.
The most distinctive feature of his mask would of course be the crude smiley face on its front. The smiley face was drawn with black graffiti, with the smears trailing down the mask evoking the image of tears. Contrary to most first impressions, these are not tears of pain but rather tears of joy.
