• Like most of his colleagues in the Science Division and NEUROTOR, Hypnos is motivated by the pursuit of raw scientific knowledge. In Hypnos' case, he is motivated to uncover the secrets of the mind, as he holds a fascination with the inner workings of others: what motivates them and what makes them tick.
  While Hypnos won't immediately resort to obviously amoral methods in service to this motive, he is willing to pursue more subtle, questionable actions if it means furthering his understanding of the sapient soul.

Hypnos was created on May 5, 2055 in the PentaCore Conglomerate's fifth Repository Facility via advanced, interstellar Ores like Aborium, Trassium, and a composite Ore-Alloy known as Prima Materia.
Hypnos was created to serve as a Psionic Infiltration Unit for PentaCore to use in their wars with their many enemies: Rival Corporations, Transhumanist Groups, and the looming presence of GAEA, the global enforcement agency, in their affairs.

The creation of Hypnos and the SEERs that would eventually succeed him was motivated by a newly discovered combat principle known as PsiWar.

The theory of PsiWar details that physical attacks on your enemy are no match to psychological warfare, and that most enemies will be wholly unprepared for an assault on the mind. By extension, this makes Psionic attacks more devastating than their analogue counterparts; thus, incentivizing Psionic capabilities over raw offense or defense.

As a result of this, the ConPlier's prompting was more biased towards increased intelligence and charisma in Hypnos' creation.

Hypnos' early upbringing was very mixed. While he wasn't actively abused by those in the PentaCore Conglomerate,

• Io is a complicated subject to Hypnos.
  While his actions and motivations often lead to him coming into conflict with Io, he doesn't see her as a naive puppet to groom or an irrational nuisance to kill like Xerxes and Monogon do.
  Instead, Hypnos sees her as what she really is. A scared little girl trying to make sense of a deranged world, all the while trying to preserve her innocence. Her happiness.
