Murk's parents worked in the city surrounding The Crystal River Academy and sent her there when she was old enough. She studied hard, graduated, and then went to join The Order of the Blue Rose on their mission to hunt and contain magical artifacts and history.

However she always felt underappreciated at her post and got sick of being passed over on promotions for younger members that sucked up better than she did. When Rose took over, however, she knew that Murk would make a wonderful master and elevated her to that title. Murk has shown since why she's earned that status, and has done everything she can to not let Rose down.
