Born to a city built inside the petrified remains of a dragon, Duncan always had a curiosity for the natural world. His parents supported this, setting him up with various tutors to help foster that love.

Eventually it turned to the sciences, not just like those artificers practiced but also other areas of exploration until by his late teens the boy was decently versed in many areas of scientific study. This is what caught the attention of The Crystal River Academy, who at the time knew the individual teaching general sciences to the early years would retire soon and reached out to ask if Duncan would like to replace them.

He set out for the academy, spending just two years as a teaching assistant before the professor retired and he took over. It's been a wild ride, but working for the Academy gives him consistent pay, a place to live, and access to all the information he could want to continue his studies in his free time as well as teaching students.
