Aurus Kiria-Na
Bi
40s
Male
-Don Kiria-Na (his title as the first consort of the Mayadón of Cas-Kiria)
-Naji (shortened diminutive of Naját, the formal name noble children call their "-Na" parents)
-Brov'kir (his traveling alias)
-Orich Ælfriseð (his original Vældic name, before moving to Vagapariña and converting)
Dark Blue
Tall
Dark auburn, though it has started to gray at the roots and in patches of his beard
dense and wavy; Long enough to reach the base of his neck, often worn tied back with a strip of fraying cloth when it is not hooded-over
Full beard, which he occasionally trims and oils (though is typically left to the wiles of nature)
Human
Olive brown; usually lighter than its desired natural state because he keeps so heavily covered, though he is quick to tan when he lets himself in the sun
Probably more muscular than not, but he is not jacked or anything, since his two states are survival mudman shit or semi-active noblemanning
a brand stretching from the right forearm to just underneath his chin, requisite to his conversion to Reigaste as a teenager. This is typically covered by his beard, high collars or scarves, and the conservative dress of the Vagapariñe.
He is intensely curious, often to a fault, and is driven by whatever question pulls at him most. Currently, this has led him to get involved with various "academic" cults trying to find a way to the moon, though a falling-out has unintentionally put him on the run from them and in pursuit of a way to stop them and right the wrongs their misinterpretation of his research has brought.
Aurus tends to put his research above all else when he gets a particularly strong curiosity. This led him to leave his family years previously, and while nobody knows what came of him, they assume his pursuit of knowledge has led to his death.
He has a lot of baggage about being a religious convert; because of how stratified the religious environment of Vagapariña is, he has tried to keep his past as secret from his children and peers as he can. Because of this (on top of his intensive study-reclusivity), his children have a very unsure memory of his character and considerable confusion about his place as their father. They remember his moments of non-focus, where his family took up most of his time and he was a perfectly doting husband and father, but they remember, too, the long spans of distance in between.
Because he values the education granted to him so highly, he can view those who neglect it or show little curiosity about the world with considerable pity, and even disdain. This is tempered by company, but when he travels alone or holes himself up with his studies, he can get into his own head enough that it becomes more of a problem. Before Aurus left, this caused some strife between him and his son, Vamah, who did not take to scholasticism as eagerly as his parents or sister. For general crowds, Aurus comes across as aloof and esoteric, many times needlessly so (both due to his hyper-academic lifestyle and the language barrier between him and more casual Vagapariñe speakers).
He is typically very pensive, with a humorous tilt that comes out even (particularly) in stressful situations. He is also very genuine about his wants and emotions, which faired him poorly in his youth though others have grown to respect him for it as he flourished both academically and socially in his adulthood.

-- [See Option 1 of Magical Condition]
-- Due to a Faustian deal he made while infultrating the moon-cult, he is cursed in some awful and angsty way (see Options) in return for some chunk of knowlege. His whole deal is being unwillfully estranged from the people that he loves, so this is kind of a heightening of that pattern, and a dramatization of his drive for knowledge/ "truth".
Option 1: He has an omen of sth terrible befalling the loved ones he tries to return to- a notion aided by Haffa showing up wounded and the ordeal with Vamah during the Red Storm. So, he has some extreme anxieties about being near his loved ones, but isn't physically restrained from them.
Option 2: (More blatantly cursey/magical) He physically cannot touch the loved ones he left behind before his curse (i.e. he goes right thru them like a ghost, but he can touch ppl like Lovio or Manchís, who he didn't know or didn't exist before he left).
Either way, the outcome of this deal also drives him to seek more answers regarding the magic and the Storm as related to his research, furthering the terrible, cyclical pursuit that helped put him in the whole ordeal in the first place.
Born as Orich Ælfriseð to a reputable quad in Vældrac, Aurus and his elder sister were raised jointly by his parents, their warpartners, and village elders. At fifteen, his father, Ælfric, has a violent falling-out with the rest of his partners. He takes Aurus half-willingly and they flee Vældrac, Arurus leaving behind a potential warpartner (Haffa Wolseð) along with his family and everything else he knew.
They sneak into Vagapariña and convert to Reigaste, Ælfric joining his enemy's army and Aurus attending a prestigious boarding school. Ælfric made a good impression of himself as a soldier but ended up dying in a brawl not long after. Despite this loss, Aurus continued wholeheartedly with his studies, eventually meeting and marrying Yariel Ya-Kiria and becoming a key intellectual and advisor at her court. Together, they had a pair of twins, and Yariel's subsequent husbands only grew the bunch. When his children were fifteen, Aurus left on a research trip and has not been seen by his family since. The twins, Vamah Kiria-Enna and Oriel En-Paleja (nee Kiria-Nena), are now twenty.
In Vældrac, he was raised by elders, though he often idealized his unusually scholarly father, Ælfric, both being born with curious minds unbefitting the military culture they were tethered to.
He was sent to the Academy at Soleád to deliver some writings by his father to a professor there— Aurus makes a few notes on the way there and accidentally delivers those too, leading to his being admitted to the Academy.
After his father died, Aurus was adopted by the Academy (thru a program started by the Flauráz family), and his academic advisor represented Aurus as his legal guardian until he married Yariel.
He travels with a horse to pull his cart, so ig that can be like his pet
He has family on the other side of the war, namely his half-siblings (Ingrich Ælfriseð and Róssi), his mother (Engrið), and his parents' warpartners (Ylœc and Tanæ). The older generation is of considerable age, and Aurus presumes them long dead.
Has an especially close relationship with his wife, who allegedly chose him over a young woman of much more favorable means to be her first spouse (the other woman ended up marrying into a different family, offended and unwilling to be second to Aurus). Myrus had some trouble knitting into the Kiria polycule at first because of how close Aurus and Yariel were with each other, despite being a close friend to them already.

Though he tries to avoid combat (and conflict) entirely, he was trained with the sword as a boy, preferring longer, greater-sweeping blades to use distance to observe his opponent as he fought (and allow his ever-racing thoughts to flow without being hindered by the faster pace of shorter-bladed swords and knives).
He has helped his husband Myrus give their children basic arms training, even if he does so rather unenthusiastically.
Though a Convert to Reigaste, he is generally privy to agnosticism and adheres to looser or more alternative approaches in his prayer to Yan-Regiaste than his peers.
-Don (lord-consort) of Cas-Kiria.
-Informant and advisor for his wife.
-He has a permanent position as a researcher for the Academy at Soleád, provided with permanent chambers to accommodate his frequent visits.
He tries to remain politically neutral, as a convert from a religion viewed as an enemy of his own. However, if push comes to shove, he will more often than not side politically with his wife, Yariel Ya-Kiria.
Researching The Threads, and alternately finding a way to the moon.
Escorting Yalka Siv'nkal and Haffa Wolseð to Soleád (for academic and medical reasons, respectively).
