"At least I have an excuse, you just seem like you were dropped on the face as a child. Maybe next time you fall angle it better, it'll be an improvement!" Shaun cackles, this is just the funniest damn thing to him. The disgusted look on Jesse's face is priceless, and he saw that shiver! Amazing, his smile is always great at getting rid of pesky people. This is how he's always able to push people he doesn't want out of his life (honestly that accounts for everyone but still), just act insane and use his horrifying wide smile. It's not even just the smile that's terrifying, it's like his entire facial stucture recalibrates just to accommodate this monstrosity. His eyes look like they stretch upwards, his nose is just horribly scrunched, and his eyebrows are constantly down turned. You wouldnt expect someone who naturally looks grumpy to have such an ability like this, but he sure does. "That's not very nice to say about someone, next you'll say I look like a serial killer! You wouldnt be wrong, but still-" He laughs, before stepping outside the RV again. Sure he's probably just playing it up for fun, but he has killed at least 3 people.
(I dunno if my response is accurate to what's happening, someone tell me is it isn't and I'll change it.)
(I tried to read everything but I have a massive headache, so im just responding based on like the last two responses.)
Ezra heard shouting and he sat up disoriented, as he had been taking a nap. Doodle jumped off the bed and whined.
He knew the noise was being made by living people, but he knew it was living people, zombies couldn't talk.
He sat up, rubbing his eyes and with Doodle by his side, made his way out of the apartment, making sure to lock it and headed towards the sound.
Angela was utterly shocked by the time jesse started to pick the bullet out of her leg she let out sorta something like a grunt before her eyes squeezed shut "fucking hell! Bitch this ain't operated i don't make a fucking buzzing sound when you hit the opening of my wound!" And she thought the tweezers were bad until she started to use her fingers " i swear to fucking god just get it out of there!"
By the time Cass told Jax to go home, he was already walking with his head down. Phoenix tucked her tail between her legs and ears flat against her head. She didn’t understand what had happened, after all, she was just trying to play. But her owner was unresponsive, his hands stuffed in his pockets. She pressed her nose against Jax’s wet clothes and he promptly snapped at her. “You embarrassed me, Phoenix. That is a dangerous game and could have gotten someone killed.” He sighed. “I’ll put you in time out, and you won’t get any table scraps, Well, you shouldn’t be getting any anyway.” He moved away from the dog and she whined, chasing after her owner tentatively. “Knock it off, please!” His voice was raw. Phoenix whined, looking down at the forest floor as she trailed behind Jax. They continued down the bank of the river, the birds singing a somber song. Jax’s thoughts were grim and rounded with self-deprecation. Maybe it was best he packed up and left. It would both eliminate the problem and the secondary-problem. He shivered from the sting of the wind, his eyes dried and tears tried to compensate for it.
Looking up, he saw the exterior of the house, its yellow and white paint chipping away from years of wear. He climbed atop the front porch, the concrete rough against his feet. The wind clattered against the fence and Jax forcefully opened the door, herding Phoenix inside. Once he’d entered the size-abled farm house, he ordered Phoenix to lay by the back door near the oak kitchen table, and Jax trudged up the creaky oak stairs. The house was considerably old. Maybe built in the 50s at most. He entered the room he’d been staying in, recognizing the beat up dresser and the two mattresses that created the makeshift bed. He shook out his hair, trying to fluff it up after the water plastered it against his head. He placed his satchel (Of which I forgot he brought with him) on the ground, making sure he had everything that belonged to him. Jax sat on the edge of the bed, contemplating what had happened before laying down on the bed. He didn’t like getting snapped at, it destroyed everything positive he’d build up in his mind. Resting his eyes, he let his body rest, but his mind was still active.
Peregrine jumped Angela started to get upset, cowering a bit in his chair. His parents used those words a lot, to him and each other and to the general idea of zombies. He hesitated for a moment, unsure what to do. Clearly Angela didn't like what Jesse was doing to her because it hurt, but it also seemed like what Jesse was doing was important. There was something stuck in Angela's leg that shouldn't be in there.
"It's… it's okay. She's helping you, I think." Pip assured Angela, holding onto her hand as well as he could with his own being injured. "She should be done soon…" He looked over to see what Jesse was doing and paled at the sight of the wound, quickly looking away.
Ryuu walks down the eerie hallway of the hospital, blood splattered on his face and shirt. It was hard to tell whether or not it was his.
His body aches non-stop as he heads towards the dimmed, broken exit sign.
His ginger hair flops in his face, the strings of golden blocking his already blurry vision. Ryuu holds a hand up to his forehead, wiping blood off of it only to feel a sharp pain in his head.
that's….definitely mine… he thinks to himself with a heavy sigh. In his hands he holds a rather large knife duct-taped to the end of a stick. (:D) Covered in blood and…is that? Well hell it is. A piece of zombie scalp and a clump of hair was wedged in between the thick wood and blade. He tries his best not to gag as he shoved his shoulder against the large metal door, leaning all of his weight onto it.
The door opens and the crisp air rushing over Ryuu reminds him that he's alive. He's not one of the dead yet.
Not yet…
He takes in a deep breath, the air so nice and cold it almost stings his nose and throat as it travels down to his lungs. Ryuu smiles, relief flooding over him as he stands at the edge of the railing on the third floor of the hospital.
He slumps down on the railing, looking across the street to an apartment building. Maybe he could make his way there and stay there for the night.
No- he needs to keep on moving.
He closes his eyes, dozing off quickly and letting his body's muscles loosen and relax before quickly jolting back awake. "okay maybe one night" he says to himself, rubbing his eyes. Immediately regreting it, he quickly gets the edge of his long sleeved shirt and wipes the blood out of his eye as best he can. Ryuu has never been one to curse, so instaed he just says "oh goodness gracious!" in a very panicked tone instead.
After he's able to see clearly, he picks the makeshift speak back and heads down the stairs into the streets. He walks slow, but not like a zombie. He always made sure not to walk like one nobody how much he related to them sometimes, in fear of someone shooting him without trying to figure out.
He looks around the street.
Its so….empty. Barren.
This spring, the snow had started to melt a little while ago and now all that was left was mud and new vines sprouting up from the ground to take over the buildings that no longer belonged to the human race. Not anymore.
He crosses the street into the apartment building, looking around the main lobby before making his way up the stairs.
He makes sure his footsteps are soft and his breathing was steady. As steady as he could make it anyway.
Ryuu's vision starts to go blurry again and his head spins
did i hit my head that bad? I really need to find a safe place to lay down he thinks to himself, adjusting the large brown backpack on his pack.
Soon he hears footsteps. Not zombie like footsteps. Human footsteps. He can hear footsteps yet no sound of the terrible groaning of the zombies.
Was there another person here? Or was he hallucinating?
"Hey!" he calls out weakly. It was a dangerous thing to try but he had to do something. Ryuu leans against the wall of the building, clinging onto the railing as he tries to avoid the weak spots in the stairs himself. It had only been six months so it wasnt too bad, but every now and again there was some sort of black spot or whole or missing tiles that Ryuu wasn't willing to take any chances on. Especially not in the state he's in now.
"Is somebody there? Please help me" he asks. His voice was as soft as it normally was, but a tinge of desperation could be heard. Sincerity.
To say Frenchie jumped when she heard actual words for the first time in God knows how long was the understatement of the century. The shock that shot up her spine nearly made her trip over her own feet and faceplant into the sewer grate in the street below her. She whipped her head around a couple of times, making sure the sound hadn't attracted any zombies before going to seek out the source of it.
Considering she only heard instead of saw, logic would state that the person was inside a building. And since he, or at least it sounded like a he, had only asked if someone was there, she could assume he couldn't see her. So in a building close enough that he could hear her footsteps but not close enough to see her.
So Frenchie turned her attention to the abandoned apartment building she had been about to pass by. Seemed like a good place to start, right? And walking in the door, indeed it was.
Imagine her surprise when, clinging to the railing in the stairwell like it was some kind of lifeline, Frenchie saw another living being. A living being who wasn't going to be living much longer if he stayed the way he was but living nonetheless.
"Holy hell in a handbasket, you scared the fuck outta me." She huffed, deciding that making sure this guy survived wasn't the worst use of her time as she marched forward to take a closer look at him.
"Sit down before you pass out, the last thing I need is you cracking your skull open on these damn stairs. I've got some medical supplies with me but I'm no surgeon and you really wouldn't want me poking around inside your head."
(Poor Ryuu he doesn't know what I just signed him up for 👹👹👹)
(Frenchie, I'm sorry, but the softness is coming. There's nothing you can do to stop it. The sass isn't going anywhere though. That's staying)

Angela looked over at Peregrine and managed to muster up a soft smile "im okay it just hurts is all, just try not to look at it its not a pretty sight it doesn't feel the greatest either but i won't bring that up again " her voice was pained but she did well covering it up fot the boy do he was scared

(again if my reply doesnt fit in, just say something bc my headache is kinda bad and prevented me from reading to many of the replies before mine.—)
(Uhm i am confused by your posts a bit. It doesn't really say where Ezra was. Only that he was close enough to hear noises along with a dog and was in a bed. I feel like if he were that close people would have found him already. Just so it makes sense and doesn't create a "breaking the fourth wall" moment with the characters- maybe you can change it up a bit)
(Example: Oh you appeared out of nowhere? How in the world did 5 people coming from all directions not see you or the whole dog when you were still close enough to hear us)
(And also the fact that theyre all in the RV except for Shaun who stepped out. He wouldn't be able to see them or know absolutely any details about anybody at all. Genders, age, condition, etc.)
(maybe instead of him waking up in the middle of nowhere, could you write a little more detail about that and explain how they weren't able to see or hear him (either that or change where he is). He can still find them in the end of your posts! But there's just a lot of confusion and vagueness with lack of detail in the posts. You don't have to post at all if you have a headache and can't post detailed replies. There's no pressure to post. And if you feel like you can't post a solid reply, wait until you feel a little better.)
(Your posts don't always have to be long or super crazy detailed. But i wanna know the details, the surroundings, how he ended up there, where he was going, how he stumbled upon them? Everyone else wrote up a reason why they ran into eachother, (a backstory if you will) as its not on random luck why people find others in an apocalypse where over half of the population is dead. Cherry was already with Jesse. Shaun's car broke down on the road and Jesse stopped him from passing. Angela was shot and trying to get help and Pip ran away from his parents. So it's very confusing and vague when i read that he just heard people and went towards them without much other detail. Maybe write a little bit for beforehand? Maybe he was trying to find someone, running away, trying to reach a destination. Anything. But waking up in a random bed in the middle of nowhere with a dog that happened to be close to them and just coming up and saying hi in the zombie apocalypse is really confusing.)
(and also another small side note, if you dont feel well enoguh to read others responses, i wouldn't have your character interact with them until you're able to read up on what's happened so far. Because being in the roleplay includes reading the responses (at least the ones you're going to be involved with. Im sorry if this sounds rude. i don't mean for it to be. I know a lot of other roleplays dont have these preferences that i do, but mine does. Sorry that its a lot)
Ryuu's eyes flutter shut slowly as his vision darkens. He leans all of his body weight on the railing before sliding down to sit on the stairs.
His breath is raspy and shallow, almost sounding as if Darth Vader and someone with asthma had a baby. He rests his head on the stairs, the tile pressing into his cheek as he tries his best not to drift off into sleep.
He hears the footsteps of someone else and with that, he lets himself relax. Surely nobody was going to try and kill him?
Right?
RIGHT??
He starts to panic as his anxiety rises in his chest and his head. Ryuu pushes himself to face wherever the voice was coming from, leaning his back against the stairs in a dizzy haze. He sees a woman in front of him. She was a rather small thing but she was human nonetheless.
Ryuu isn't able to take in all of her features as he's barely able to take in his surroundings without passing out.
"im-im sorry uhm" he mumbles, groaning in pain as his hand goes to his head. His head injury was really catching up to him.
"i just need to take a nap. Im fine really" he says with a weak wave of his hand. "It's not like im bleeding out or anything"
Ryuu-was in fact- bleeding out from the head. And it was painfully obvious. But being him, he would much rather not have her have to deal with his problems. They weren't hers to be burdened with! Right?
Jesse stops what she's doing (poor Angela bro) to look at Shaun, staring at him blankly as he blabbers on trying to insult her. Though she holds in a laugh when it sounded like…
Wait…. is he trying to brag about being a murderer? Yeah, thats a great way to survive out here. Let people know you're crazy.
When he leaves Jesse lets out a heavy sigh, shaking her head "i think baby man is drunk. I dont want him in my RV" she says to Cherry before pulling her attention back to Angela's wound, using the other end of the tweezers to pry it out.
After a lot of struggling, pinching, squeezing, and prying, the bullet reaches the surface of the wound and almost like popping a pimple, Jesse squeezes the skin underneath it and the bullet shoots out, hitting her in the face with a small thud before the bloody thing clatters to the floor.
She looks up to Angela "done" she says with a nod, very proud of herself. "time to stitch"
After a few moments when Jax leaves his line of sight along with his dog, Cassius lets out a heavy breath, comforting Ophelia.
He looks down to her when the coughing stops but the streams of tears still falling down her cheek as she shivers, a breeze of cold air flows through the forest. "Are you alright, hun?" he asks his daughter, swiping wet strands of hair out of her face as she sniffles.
She nods "its okay" she sniffles again. "where did they go?" she asks, blinking and looking around.
"They went home." He replies simply.
She looks to the clothes floating in the water "why? We aren't done" Fia looks up to him with big glossy eyes.
"i told them to so Phoenix didn't hurt you again"
While Fia and Cass continued their conversation, they finished washing the clothes in the cold river. And "they" as in Cassius washed them while Fia tried to count how many bugs she could find and kiss.
"thats five!!" she says, holding up a large beetle, giving it a kiss on its back. It unfolds its wings in her face before flying away and out of her hands. "Bye Ham!" she calls to the bug, waving happily.
Cassius looks up to her from the river, wringing out the last peice of clothing before setting it in the basket and picking it up. "Ham?" he asks with a chuckle.
"Yeah! That's his name!" she says jumping over to him.
"Oh thats a really nice name for a beetle. Good job Fia" he says as they make their way back to the house.
Cassius wasn't looking forward to talking to Jax when he got home, but he knew he should if he didn't want any hard feelings floating around them with every interaction.
So on their way back, Cassius brainstorms how he can bring it up to Jax, what he's going to say, winning fake arguments in his head, etc, while Fia prances around the fields of melting snow and new grass.
They reach the large house, stepping up to the front porch and setting the clothes down before knocking and stepping in. Something Cassius always did before entering the house. "Jax!?" he calls.
"Jax!!" Fia yells out to him "where are you?!"
Phoenix’s head poked up when she heard the others enter the house. She got up on paws, staring at the open door before darting up the stairs, her tail tucked between her legs. She weaseled her way into Jax’s room, hopping onto his bed, curling up next to her owner protectively. She licked the tears off his face, comforting him and nuzzling her wet nose against his cheek to see if she could get him to smile. Phoenix was unsuccessful. This doggie could sense her owner's distress, laying her head on top of his side. Although, him being unresponsive to her efforts drove her little doggie mind crazy. She whined in his face, trying to get him to say something.
Jax, however, wasn’t in the mood to speak to anyone, not even his dog. Hearing the door shut and voices call his name struck anxiety into his heart. He remained silent, trying to get Phoenix to stay quiet and stop from laying on him. His body faced the wall, the quilt blanket pulled up to his neck. He definitely didn’t want to talk to Cass or look at Fia. He didn’t feel like getting lectured or yelled at. He didn’t feel like moving or showing the guilt on his face. As he planned before, he thought it was better for him to leave, getting rid of two problems.
Ophelia looks around with big eyes, her brows furrowed in worry and confusion "where is he?" she asks her dad. "Jax!?"
Cassius lets out a heavy sigh when there was no response, watching the dog run away up stairs. "He's upstairs i assume" he says softly, lost in thought.
He knew Jax didn't want to talk to him. Who would want to talk to someone after they got so mad they basically told them to "get out of my sight".
Though Cassius was a special case who loved to talk EVERYTHING out. Any problems they had he needed to solve it and make it right. But how was he going to do that?
He looks down to her "im gonna go up and talk to him. Can you stay inside until i come back down?" he asks Fia.
She nods before running up the stairs, wanting to get out of her soggy clothes. Cassius follows her up the stairs, though instead of going into his room, he knocks on Jax's door.
Frenchie resisted the strong urge to facepalm. This guy wasn't serious, was he? Well, she wasn't about to wait around and find out. Instead, she huffed and came forward, dropping her bag onto the ground to dig through it for her well worn med bag. "How do I always manage to find the dumb ones, am I an idiot magnet or something?" She mumbled indignantly as she yanked the med bag out of the bottom of her pack with such force it almost sent her toppling backwards. Maybe she should learn not to pack her bag so tightly, then she wouldn't risk falling over trying to get something out. But that was a problem for not "in the middle of an apocalypse" her to deal with.
Frenchie sorted through the items until she found the small pack of guaze and tiny bottle of disinfectant she carried, deciding to pull out a spare needle and suture thread she'd collected from the last time she'd raided a hospital just in case. When Frenchie stepped up to get a proper look at the injury, she couldn't help but notice how many stairs she had to climb to do it. I mean, she could obviously see the guy was tall which only served to irritate her further but this was unfair.
"Just stay still, I can't tell how much blood you've lost and don't need you losing more." She huffed, settling down behind him and cradling his head between her knees so she could take a proper look. "And don't you dare pass out on me, not until I have your head in order."
(She's tough she'll be fine XD)
Angela kept her head turned away doing her best not to scream she took deep a deep breath and refused to look at what jesse wad doing Jesus fuck it felt like she was just playing around in her leg this was unbearable after the bullet was finally removed she let out a breath she had been holding she pain was still there definitely but it had subsided at the mention of stitches the area around the wound ached and she nodded "we should probably sterilize it first and whatever your using, it already infected.."
Peregrine kept his eyes closed, not liking the gore and Angela's distress. He just held a bit tighter to her hand, but gasped softly in pain from the pressure on his wounds. His heart was racing and he looked stressed for a variety of reasons. He jumped at the sharp sound of the bullet clattering on the metal floor of the RV, not particularly fond of loud noises, and tentatively opened his eyes. The amount of blood made him woozy and dizzy again and he swayed in the chair for a moment before he screwed his eyes shut again.
Phoenix’s ears perked up, hearing the heavy footsteps clamber up the stairs. She put her paws over Jax side, her paws sinking into his wet shirt. The collie dog watched the door tentatively, sniffing the air for a scent. Once she recognized the scent, a small growl came from her throat. And when she saw the man whose anger had pierced her doggie heart and place distrust into her, who had hurt her owner, she barked at him. Phoenix was protecting Jax from more anger and hurt. But Jax was used to hurt. He grabbed Phoenix, holding her in his arms as he sat up. His hair was still damp with water. His entire outfit was still damp from the excursion at the river. Looking over at Cass, his eyes darted away from Cass to look at one of the walls. Guilt had ruined his face. Unfortunately, there was nothing to look at. The walls were plain. Jax looked back over at Cass, his body trembling from the onset cold. His eyes seemed to stared past Cass, where they drifted to look at something in the hallway. “What?” He mumbled harshly. He didn’t want to talk— at all. There was nothing for him to talk about. Nothing at all. It was his fault he couldn’t predict the fact his dog would knock Fia down into the water. That’s it. Move on. Jax held his tongue, not saying anything else to Cass.
Ryuu stays sitting on the stairs, his head hurting and his eyes burning. His golden, thin-framed glasses are crooked on his face and his hair in a curly tangled mess.
"It's called being considerate" he says in a whisper "you don't need to help me" Ryuu tries his best to explain it to her in his drowsy state.
He watches her fumble, trying to lean forward to help her. He's lucky she was able to balance herself because he wouldn't have been able to catch her in the shape he is in.
Ryuu lets out a raspy, weak sigh before sitting back when she's settled down behind him. He leans his head back into her and closes his eyes, able to relax for the first time in a while. Ryuu wasn't normally as free with who touches him but in this case he genuinely might be bleeding out so he would gladly accept help.
And a more embarrassing factor is that he hasn't felt a single caring touch from another (alive) human being in…. well sadly Ryuu's lost track. But it's at least been a few months since he's talked to someone, let alone touch them.
He looks up to Frenchie, taking off his glasses with shaky hands and pulling his hair out of his face, revealing his freckle covered forehead. There was a small gash above his eyebrow that looked as if he had been hit with the corner of a table. Multiple times.
Blood had dripped into his eye, coating his blonde eyelashes. "Im Ryuu….by the way" he says, closing his eyes again. "thank you"
Angela put her arm around Peregrinea and lightly patted his his shoulder "im okay, it just hurts a bit that's all just need to clean it and stich it up and ill be good as new." It was hard to tell if Angela was just being nice for Pereginea's well being or hers it might have been both who knows
Peregrine nodded, still keeping his eyes closed for now. Seeing Angela's reaction only made him more nervous about getting his wounds treated; he'd had rubbing alcohol on small scrapes enough to know that his hands were going to hurt ten times worse. He curled in on himself with a soft whimper. Of course, his hands really did need to be treated, but that didn't quell his fears about it at all. Not to mention, Jesse's bedside manner was definitely not the best.
Cherry watched as Angela got the bullet taken out of her, of course, she'd never seen anything like that before the apocalypse happened and every time someone had been brought in a rough shape, they would always mistake Cherry for the person who took care of others when they were injured. Cherry knew nothing of the sort. Putting pressure on a wound when someone was bleeding out was common sense, or so she believed, so that wasn't a huge problem, but how to get a bullet out? That was a little more involved and she was not for all of that. So when Jesse managed to do just that, her eyes were bright with curiosity, the expression on her face in surprise yet at the same time admiring the handiwork.
When Jesse addressed her she sort of snapped out of it and looked towards to door where the guy had exited. She wasn't gonna lie, the guy absolutely terrified her. He seemed like the type to do unpredictable things, and in her mind, that was worse than the zombies. It was hard for her not to be nervous just then.
"Would you like me to close the door?" She asked Jesse, not sure what to do, her eyes landing on Peregrine whose eyes were closed, not wanting to see what was going on with Angela. Cherry felt for him, but he was in good hands, his mother had him, even though she was injured.
Since Angela hadn't said anything at the time Cherry had spoken to her, she assumed the kid was hers and that she didn't want to talk to her, which was fine. Cherry had nothing against anyone so if someone ignored her and wished to be far away from her, she only accepted that, it wasn't a big problem, only that it hurt her feelings a little, but that feeling would soon go away too.
She looks up to Cherry and shakes her head "No." she says plainly "i don't want him in here but i will deal…i guess" she shrugs.
"did you run into anybody on your trip?" She asks her.
Yeah she didn't like Shaun, but she felt as if Cherry wouldn't be too happy with her if she would just lock him out there to die. And even though ones can survive without a car and many do, Jesse believed he wouldn't last a single night without a hunk of metal protecting him and his cat-who Jesse thinks should definitely be eaten for that horrible name.
When Angela speaks, Jesse e nods "Yeah yeah' she mumbles, rolling her eyes as she pulls the almost empty bottle of disinfectant. She dampened a cloth with it and cleans the wound and around it before taking the sutures and needle off the table. "i start from bottom of wound" she says, pressing the needle into her skin.
No, her work wasn't very clean or professional but it got the job done.
Kind of.
Jesse was never the perfectionist type, or at least the type that cared about the other persons feelings. So unless she was stitching up herself or someone she deepy cared about, she was rather reckless with her work. If you could even call it that.
( @adaras im sorry i didn't see that cherry had spoken to her!)
Angela nodding looking over to the window and mumbled under her breath, She shook her head and bit her lip at the light sting from the medication and then the burning of something going into the wound "¡Gah! ¡Cuidado con lo que haces, idiota!". Angela shifted in the seat squeezing her eyes shut she hated the fact the jesse was the one doing this and it pussed ger of how she did something like this so foolishly
