Jax held onto Phoenix quietly, trying to get her to calm down. The only danger he would be in would be if Cass punched him, and he didn’t think they’ve gotten there yet. He started at Cass, his face turning sour as each word drifted out of Cassius mouth. It was like listening to an argument behind closed doors. Drowned out, but loud. He didn’t do much, but blinked a few times as he tried to hush up Phoenix. Jax didn’t care much about talking things through or getting harped on and on about the accident. He didn't like drama and the division it brought. If he was a screw-up, he could leave. He was sure Cass would like that. After all, he probably viewed him as a dangerous person. A dangerous person who couldn’t control his dangerous dog. It’s not like he wanted Fia to nearly drown in the paws of his dog. If he did, he wouldn’t have pulled her up and out of the river. If he did, he would have already done it. But Jax was not a malicious person. All these thoughts of annoyance reflected across his face in a jumble of emotions. Yes, he was annoyed. Yes, he felt like a child being yelled out by a parent in him room. Yes, he was angry at himself. His grip on Phoenix tightened.

Jax stared at Cass with glassy eyes. “I am grown up. I’m facing you right now, aren’t I. I’m so sorry that I didn’t want to stick around downstairs and face you with my emotions out of check. I’m so sorry that I wanted to lay down and rest my head.” He took a deep breath. “I handled my issues by letting myself think before I struck.” No, he didn’t. He ran away, so he could never be seen again. Something that he was about to propose. “And I am sorry Ophelia fell into the hands of endangerment, but I couldn’t have possibly anticipated that Phoenix was going to knock her down.” He bluntly started at Cass, his heart beating quickly in his ears. He wasn’t too sure he actually had his emotions under control. “If I am a problem— If I am a danger to you, I can leave. I’m not even sure I am welcomed here anymore after that… because I don’t feel welcomed here anymore.” He picked up his satchel, gently putting phoenix down on the ground. “And I don’t appreciate you calling Phoenix an “it” just because you’re mad at her.”

(If this is confusing, don’t fret! I intentionally make his POV confusing and all over the place. It reflects his personality. Most of it is kinda like his inner monologue.)
(Also sorry if it seems rushed, I want to finish this before dinner.)

Bane hated cities. Although, he miraculously found himself stuck in one. If he knew anything, being in a city in the zombie apocalypse was not the most secure areas to be. It was A) dense with cow eyes zombies who used to be living idiots. That’s why they got infected in the first place. Zombie idiots cannot cure human idiocy, and Bane, was not a human idiot. He managed to survive after all. Well, maybe not after all since he was in the middle of the streets with no cover. What a great place to be in a zombie apocalypse, after all, a zombie could fling itself down on top of him. But if he applied Murphy’s law to himself, anything that could go wrong will go wrong around him. Bane scribbled that thought down on an old CVS receipt in red crayon. He heard the groans of zombies all around him. But he wasn’t too worried, he had a few weapons. A broad range of everything, in fact, he was like—. A zombie had come out of nowhere, presumably from an old alleyway. He screamed when he saw the flesh eating goat (Zombie) and bludgeoned its head in with the nearest object. That happened to be part of a stop sign. At this point, he realized that his little journey from the old, abandoned CVS to the outskirts of the city wasn't going to do. He needed to get somewhere safe. Somewhere high up.

Bane glanced over at the nearest building. It was an apartment building. Hell no! There were probably dead bodies everywhere. He wasn’t about to get his boots dirty. He looked around, scanning the street for another building. The local firehouse looked promising. He started to get a move on, his boot kicking up the dust from the mortar buildings. Talk about not getting his boots dirty. Many of the brick and mortar building had started to fall apart. The road had collected most of the cities dust and cracks formed in it from months of neglect. So had the sidewalks. Bane stopped in front of the firehouse, the red faded from time. Nothing was left inside except for a few tools he had no need for. One alarming detail he should have anticipated was that— there were zombies crawling all over the station. Okay, this was a hard pass. The apartment building it was… Despite his hatred for any form of tenement. Glancing around, he made a run for the building, alerting the zombies in the fire station. They moseyed after him like cows, swaying side to side as they walked.

Bane reached the other side of the street, standing outside the building. He watched the zombies follow after him. Another zombie on his right came right up to him and tried to take a chunk out of his arm. He promptly kicked in the face with his boot. After that interaction, he ran inside the building, climbing the stairs fervently. How far would it be until the top? Unsure. His footsteps were loud, echoing through the empty stair well. He wouldn’t be able to reach the top, it was too far, and he was out of breath. He had grown thinner from the lack of food. Bane ended his climb, sitting on the platform of some floor, looking at the next flight of stairs that lead up. He could hear a scattered murmur of voices coming from the next flight up, but did he really want to face them? He bit his lip, going over scenarios in his brain, but bit the bullet. "Hello? Is there anyone up there?"

Cassius stands there as patiently as he could be, his big arms crossed over each other and his posture straight. His size was almost more apparent and intimidating when he postured up, which is why normally he tried his best to appear even a little smaller than he was.
Though Cass always tends to posture up when something was bothering him.
He taps his finger on her arm in annoyance as he watches Jax, listening to him talk. He felt like he was Jax's dad at the moment and he didn't like it one bit. Nor did he think he was going to have to babysit a grown man and his dog. Cassius just didn't understand where Jax was coming from he guessed, as none of his words made sense to him.
He shakes his head and lets out a scoff, looking away for a second and biting the inside of his lip, taking in a deep breath. Cassius was trying his best not to lash out at him and raise his voice, but he found it rather hard to do so when he tried to argue about it.
Cass takes a step forward and into the room when he mentions the fact that he couldn't have anticipated that. He wasn't afraid of the dog as he kept a gun in his pants (like the hem of it in the back?) at all times. He normally tucks it underneath his shirt so Fia wouldn't worry about it or try and touch it. He carries it especially when he went out, which they had just come back from doing. If he didn't, he carried a large pocket knife that was rather old.
"One," he holds a finger up "i appreciate you telling me that you were meaning to clear your head before speaking. That's smart. And in any other situation i would believe you Jax. But you didn't. "You didn't handle shit." He curses; something he almost never did. "You come up into my house and sulk, throwing yourself a pity party as if you're the one that should be hurt, and after putting my daughter in danger!" he says, raising his voice with the last few words. His brows are creased in anger, confusion and frustration with Jax and the dog.
When Jax talks about leaving, Cassius is tempted to send him on his way. But he keeps his mouth shut until he's finished, careful not to interrupt him. That would only cause more tension and it doesn't allow the other to get everything they need to out correctly.
"If you want to keep up the pity party, go right ahead. But don't assume i wan't you gone just because you made a mistake. Im asking you to own up to it like the adult you "say" you are and face the consequences. It's your responsibility to train the dog if it's going to be around others. If you have failed that task, then be responsible enough to not let it around others. If it weren't for the fact that this whole world has gone to waste, that dog would be put down. So consider yourself lucky" he says, staying where he was.
"I let her around Ophelia because i trusted you to be careful enough. I guess i cant trust you, so take the dog out. Now. Before i do." he demands, stepping aside for him to do so.
Cassius didn't want to yell at Jax, but he needed him to understand the severity of the situation and how this was in fact Jax's fault. He couldn't blame the fact that he trained the dog improperly simply on Phoenix.
Cassius also blamed himself partially for letting the dog near his daughter, thinking this could have been avoided if he was more cautious and less trusting of Jax.
Though he didn't let Jax see that, afraid he would use it against him.
After all, Cassius had only known Jax for two days. There's no saying what kind of person he really is.
_

Ophelia had run upstairs happily into hers and her dads bedroom, changing out of her wet clothes and into an old dress of hers she refused to part with when they had left their previous home. Cassius had remembered all too well the tantrum she threw when they were packing and left all of her pretty dresses. Before all of this, Ophelia had the prettiest poofy dresses that she would wear all the time. Her and her mother Eleanor would have tea parties dressed up in their favorite dresses while Cassius was away at work. Though occasionally Cass would be able to join them and they would do his makeup and hair all pretty.

Ophelia doesn't bother with her wet clothes, leaving them on the hardwood floor and flops on the bed next to the window. She watches out of it for a while as she counts the birds in the sky. Though she stops when she hears her dad's voice lift.
She perks up, not knowing what the sound was, as she didn't think she's ever heard it. Fia runs up to the door and sits behind it, pressing her ear to it and listens in on the conversation.
Her eyebrows furrow as she hears them talk, the dog barking and her dad cursing, using angry tones and louder voices.
"What did Jack do?" She whispers to a small stuffed fabric doll in her hand. The doll had a tan skin tone and brown wavy hair and big red lips with a puffy green dress. The doll was made by Cass to look like her mother. He made some for all of them. One for Fia, one of him and this one of his wife. He's hidden them away and kept them in a safe place only to collect dust ever since her passing. But a few days ago Fia found them and took her mothers doll.
Now she listens in to their conversation while combing the dolls hair through with her tiny fingers.

"oh…okay" Ryuu says quietly before laying back down in her lap. It was nice to say the least. Being able to rest in the company of someone else. And it was even nicer that the someone else isn't trying to kill him or steal his things.
Was she going to steal his things? Oh come on, who was he kidding? Ryuu didn't have much to steal. He had a few crinkled, half empty water bottles, a few pieces of jewelry he was too much of a sentimental wussy to give up, some books and a few bags of food which he really-really didn't want to talk about how he got them.
Along with that, he carried a gun his father kept in his room. An AR-15 rifle with a nice stained wooden finish to the handles and a nice leather strap. He knows how to of course, but Ryuu's only had to use it once.
"oh right…don't make me look too silly" he jokes. Ryuu's voice is a little scratchy, sad sounding and rather quiet. Fun fact: he's physically incapable of yelling. He can raise his voice only a little bit in volume, but his voice is naturally so quiet that it makes it a little hard to get points across. Though Ryuu never was one for yelling. (soft bb ^3^)
He lifts his head a little so she would be able to wrap his wound, not knowing if she was going to put a simple bandage over it or have a wrap for all around his head. He really hoped for the first one.
After a little while, Ryuu could faintly hear footsteps. Another set of human sounding footsteps!? What are the odds?
He sits up quickly, looking around before hearing a voice call out. His ears were ringing so Ryuu wasn't sure if he was hallucinating or just hearing things. He turns to look at Frenchie. "did you hear that?"

(I’m pretty tired, so please ignore any writing mistakes. Anyway, welcome to really emotional Jax. I'll post something for Bane later)

Jax tried to take deep breaths to soothe his anger, but it did not work. He didn’t like getting chewed out. Nobody liked getting chewed out. He stood, staring at Cass with a sour face and a quivering jaw. Was Jax scared of Cass? Hell yeah. He was bigger and taller than him. He had a gnarly scar with a blind eye. How couldn’t a single being not be scared of a man like this when that said man got angry. And yet, Jax still stood his ground. Phoenix tucked her tail in between her leg, feeling the anger from her owner. This dog did not want to be here. He gripped the strap of his satchel tightly, backing up when Cass got close. He held his tongue, heat rising up to his face as he got chewed out once again. Jax got torn apart by words, barely holding it together. Phoenix pressed her nose to Jax’s leg to comfort him. He was getting pissed off. “You’d like to say I came all the way up here to sulk because I should be hurt. You don’t know the crap that’s been running through my head, Cassius! You don’t know the real reason I came up here in the first place! Sure, it might have been to hide, I’ll admit that! But until you know how I felt after Fia almost drowned, you have no right to make accusations based on my emotions! The emotions you don’t even feel!” Jax’s voice grew louder, and soon, he was yelling at Cass. “You know nothing of the moments between the accident and now! The only thing you know if the meaningless little words you made up in your mind to pretend I didn’t feel freaking guilty! News flash, Cass. I can hide emotions pretty well unless someone draws them out!” He clenched his jaw, not afraid to chew out Cass back for making assumptions.

Phoenix flattened her ears from all the raw emotion. She just wanted to play— not cause a fight. But her owner and the man she used to like were in a full-fledged argument. Jax moved himself, dancing around Cass as he made his way to the bedroom door. Phoenix followed, crawling close to the ground. “I’m not throwing a pity party! I’m not asking you to feel sorry for me! I’m not asking myself to feel sorry for me, but personally, it’s like you’re asking me to leave, Cassius!” Jax took another deep breath, staring Cass in the eyes. “Guess what, Cass. You’re right. I’m only an adult because I am 21.” He snarled. “I had no one to raise me to “own up to my mistakes” and “handle serious situations” because I was on the streets since I was 12! I’m so sorry I couldn’t be the adult you wanted me to be, Cassius! I’m so fucking sorry I let you down and skewed your perception of me!” Jax had finally cursed, but he wasn’t done. At this point, tears started to fall down his face— he felt as if he was telling his own father sorry for letting him down. “I’m so sorry that I learned to run from consequences than face them! I'm sorry for being a such a screw-up according to you!” He looked down at Phoenix. He saw how scared she looked and decided it was best to leave. “I tried my best, but obviously little kid me’s best was not good enough for your “adult” standards! And I don’t consider myself lucky! Not when I am facing a grown man threatening to kill the only creature that actually likes me!” Jax yanked opened the door, letting Phoenix out of the door. She ran down the stairs, darting towards the front door. He hurried out of the room, not noticing Ophelia sitting right by the door. He practically ran down the steps, yanking the front door to let Phoenix outside. “Come on, pups. We’re going on a walk.” He mumbled through tears. Jax let himself out and slammed the front door shut.

@Dayzed business

( @Nyx_ that's alright lmao)

Cherry nodded in acknowledgment to Jesse's decision. She thought about the question.
"Alive? None, but then of course there were zombies everywhere. I fought one or two off…" She trailed off, it had probably been the scariest moment in her life leading up until now….yet something in the back of her mind told her there was something else that topped that, she just couldn't quite place what that was.
She sat there in silence, eyes staring down the floor, trying really hard to remember a forgotten memory, but to no avail, only the feeling of dread lingered in her stomach.
She only looked up when Angela spoke in Spanish, recognizing the words, it had been a while since she heard anyone speak her native language. Though that only reminded her of the kid who was silently suffering and looked like he was going to pass out.
"Uhm, could I have the beans? I'll open them up so Pip can eat" She looked down at the kid and his hands. She was going to need something to wrap those wounds up.
"Jesse, do we have any type of cloth around that would be good for wrapping up wounds? Or better yet gauze bandages? I'll take care of Pip while you finish up there" Cherry looked at Angela and gave her a small smile. Cherry had mentioned gauze bandages for the slight nonexistent chance that Jesse might have any, though, stuff like that was getting even rarer by the day, and a piece of cloth was going to have to do.
"I'll make a small bed for him so he can rest" Cherry reassured Angela before she got up, then paused.
"Of course, if that's okay with you Jesse" She added, looking at Jesse and wondering if she'd be willing to lend Cherry some blankets if she had any for the kid.

Cherry wasn't the type to take of others, in fact, it was the other way around. Before the apocalypse, she had been a heavy partier that would always get blackout drunk. She was always doing something fun, though, within her limits of course. Before any of this, she used to be a quiet teenager, and for some reason that made others believe that she would be a good mother someday, so as soon as she hit eighteen years old she did everything in her power to prove those people wrong. But now that everything had gone to shit and there was a sick kid needing to be attended to, she couldn't help but wonder what it felt like to be a mother, maybe it was something like this? It was a conflicting feeling, one that rejected the idea completely, but then the nurturing feeling fighting back.
Whatever, it's not like that was ever going to happen, so she quickly dismissed the idea.

@EtherealDreamer

(I deleted my old reply and now Ezra's just chillin I guess.)

Ezra got up slowly, rubbing his eyes with his fist as Doodle licked his face.
"Ah, Doodle, stop!" He said playfully, scratching right above her left leg and she began to beat her tail against the mattress.

"Come on, food time." He told her and she wagged her tail even faster and hopped down from the bed, her toenails scratching against the floor.

I should really cut those Ezra thought to himself, eyeing her long toenails, then led her into the kitchen, where he pulled a bag of dried dog food from a underside cabinet and poured it into a bowl.

Doodle ran over, sliding a bit on the hardwood and began eating ravenously as Ezra sat down beside her and began eating a granola bar.

Angela was ultimately confused as to why cherry was asking her questions regarding pip but she didn't have the energy to address it at the moment she just nodded "yeah there, next to….the kid." She returned cherry's smile but it was mostly forced due to the pain in her leg but she didn't want to seem rude the girl seemed nice unlike jesse, so there was no reason for her to have an attitude "ya know kid…i would really like to know you're name if you wouldn't mind telling me?"

@Fraust

Peregrine looked up at Angela weakly at the question, looking a bit confused since he'd said his name earlier when Cherry asked him. Maybe Angela was distracted by her wound or she didn't hear him. "Uhm… it's Peregrine. T-They said they wanted to call me Pip." He replied softly, looking up at the others in the RV.

He could feel himself fading. His head was so heavy and it was getting hard to hear with all the buzzing in his tears. His whole body felt dull and dense and weak, like jello. He wasn't sure how much he could move right now if he wanted to. He looked pale, he was breathing heavily, and he seemed to be having difficulty keeping his eyes open, but he tried his best nonetheless.

@Anxietyfilledcinnamonroll group

(And here’s Bane being silly)

Bane sat on the platform, going over his possible moves in his head. All he had was a red crayon and a crumbled CVS receipt… Wait— no, that wasn't all he carried. He had quite a few weapons hanging from the loops of his jeans. That would make for better protection than a red crayon. What was he going to do? Write ‘loser’ on the attacker's forehead? He could get stabbed by the time he accomplished that, and Bane was sure a CVS receipt wouldn't stop a hostile person. After all, if there were living people on the next flight of stairs, they weren’t stupid. The stupid people got bit and turned into zombies. Bane sat up, using the rail of the stairs to help support him. He was… rather loud in getting up. The blade of his weapons hit the metal railings, producing a loud metallic clang. Good going, Bane! You’re going to get murdered today. And murdered was what he was going to be! Bane pulled himself up the steps, a stinging sensation on his knee making it hard to walk up them well. He’d scrapped his knee earlier when running into the CVS, and now he was paying for the consequences. He rounded the corner and stepped onto the next platform. Bane had heard the murmur of a voice questioning his existence, but he didn’t expect to see Ed Sheeran and a Small Fry with a sewing kit. He blinked for a few seconds before silently “screaming” and running down the steps. However, running did not work since his knee was out of order. Instead, it was more like he threw himself down the steps, crashing into a wall and hitting his head.

Bane considered himself tough and hard-headed. But leaping down the stairs did a lot to you. Regardless, he poked his head up, his vision swirling. He felt okay— his head hurt, but that was about it. Nothing major. He didn’t break his neck or hurt his back. He only hit his head. But even considering the possibility that he could have given himself a minor concussion, he didn’t feel concussed. To him, he got lucky again.

@Nyx-is-with-frost health_and_safety brightness_7

(Alright that works lol EVERY REASON)

Angela nodding to herself and took a deep breath "oh ..that's a nice name im sorry i must not have heard you earlier im in quite a bit of pain here, but im sorry nonetheless." She pulled pip a little bit closer to her trying to keep him calm or at least keep him from seeing the blood "hey are you doing alright? You don't look so good…"

@Fraust

"Mmnh… m'head feels weird…" Peregrine mumbled in reply, his eyes barely open as Angela pulled him close. "It's real hot in here. But I still feel… cold? No, hot. Both?" He curled in on himself a bit, his grip loosening on Dog Man Jim. "I feel so… heavy? My head's like a rock or something. Is there something wrong with me…? Am I dying?" He asked weakly.

@Celeste_X0X0_ group

Jesse finishes sewing the messy stitches into Angela's leg, closing the wound. The stitches were a little crooked and made the wound look like a jagged triangle.
She sits back, grabbing some gauze bandages she had stolen from a run in she had with a group of people a while back. She pulls some off of the roll and starts to wrap it around her leg.
She furrows her brows, grabbing the beans and sliding her the beans across the table. "i am surprised you survived just one" she says bluntly, half joking. Though her tone didn't have any type of humorous tone to it. She was glad Cherry had come back. IF you could call it that. More relieved she didn't have to deal with losing any supplies that was sent with her.
She looks at Cherry grumpily, not wanting to use any more of her own gauze on anybody else. Jesse sighs, tossing it over to Cherry before standing up, having finished with Angela's wound. "get your own gauze next time." she complains, wiping her hands off on her flannel.
"you can make it in back room. But one once" she says, sitting in the place where Shaun had sat.
Ghabiun jumps down from the bed in the back room and exits the RV, sniffing around before stopping and staring at Shaun.

Cassius stands there, still and angry, both of his eyes open as he stares hard at him.
This was the first time Cassius's scarred eye had been open around Jax. His eyeball was scarred over with a thin layer of white-ish skin-like scar tissue. His black pupil showed through the scar tissue, looking as if it were broken like an egg's yolk and leaked out from the top and bottom creating a messy, cat-like vertical slit of an iris.
Where the scar ran through his eye, there were no eyelashes and a chunk of his eyelid was gone, showing more of his eyeball than there should be showing.
He stays there with his arms crossed, staring him down as Jax continues to make excuses for his mistake.
Most serial killers had bad upbringings. But do they get to complain about their childhoods in court before they went to jail? Did that excuse them for what they did? Hell no.
Cassius thought of this as the exact same way.
Any other time Cassius would pity him but it didn't phase him right now. Only making him more frustrated.
"i dont care whether or not you feel bad about it. You expect me to care about your shitty childhood? I care about the fact that you can't man up enough to own up to it!I I can tell nobody raised you right. You've made me plenty aware of that now." he states "But i didn't expect you to run off with your tail in between your legs like your own damn dog the second someone's pissed!" he says, stepping aside to let Jax through. Physical altercations wouldn't do anything in favor of either of them. Other than maybe a few busted bones and black eyes.
He watches as Jax leaves, following him and the dog downstairs as he breathes hard, even breaths. "you wanna leave go ahead. But i didn't say i wanted you gone. Don't make your life hard just because you can't handle a little bit of rejection" he says before Jax shuts the door in in his face.
He lets out a heavy sigh, his hands on his hips as he turns around to head up stairs.
Cassius sees his daughter standing behind him, tears in her eyes as she clutches her mothers doll to her chest. He immediately kneels down to her, his scarred eye still open. She was used to it and most of the time she would laugh at him and call it gross. Fia was never scared of it though, she just saw it as different.
He looks over her teary eyes and the doll. He reaches up and swipes a hair out of her face calmly "hey baby why aren't you upstairs?" he asks, looking up to her know.
Fia sniffles "you guys were yelling….." she answers him "why did he leave?" her big brown eyes shift over to the front door where Jax had left then to her father.

Ryuu keeps a watchful eye out like a dog after hearing a rabbit squeal a few yards away. Until he sees a man about the size of the eiffel tower make his way up the steps and stopping at the level platform in front of them before toppling back down and hitting his head. Ryuu slaps his hands over his mouth with a gasp as he watches his fall, his eyes wide as saucers; only to gasp again when he perks his head back up.
He looks around for his gun, grabbing it beside him and opening the zipper. Panic rises when he's not able to open it immediately. He pulls his rifle out, already loaded and points it at the man. Ryuu was never one to "judge a book by its cover" but nowadays, you could never be too safe.
He levels it out on his knee though isn't able to get even a good look at the guy, his vision still blurry. He doesn't say anything, leaving the talking up to Frenchie. She seemed like more of the confrontational type anyway.

Angela started to chill out after a minute of peace before realizing that jesse was done poking and prodding so she straightened out and looked at pip before rolling her eyes "oh yeah next time i have a run in with a bunch of gun welding idiots, all while i only have a machete ill be sure to get myself killed trying to steal their shit, gracias por el consejo perra."

Jax turned to look back at Cass, his hand on the doorknob. “I will talk to you when I don’t feel threatened for my life. Why don’t you go do what I am doing and go think about what you have just said and then re-evaluate.” He hissed, slamming the door in Cass’ face. That’s when the sobbing started. It was hard to swallow. A ball of emotion had built up in his throat. He wasn’t sure he could show his face here again. After all, he made a complete fool of himself. Jax walked off the porch, feeling like he was being watched. Shivers ran up his spine and he saw that his hands were shaking. He wiped them off on his pants, trying to get them to stop shaking. Phoenix nuzzled his leg, but he shooed her away. She whimpered, lagging behind Jax in fear of making him snap. The wind had picked up, drenching the air coolness. A coolness that was not helpful to Jax. His clothes were still wet and in combination with the cool air, it sucked all the warmth out of him. Jax stumbled into the forest, swiping at his face to get rid of the tears. He admired the trees and how their new, green leaves had just come in. He adored Spring and the new growth it brought. Baby birds sang in their nests, awaiting their mother to feed them. The bugs chirped and hopped around the grass carefree. But Jax couldn’t be carefree, no. He was stuck struggling with his emotions and thoughts. He was stuck trying to soothe himself. He was stuck with Cass’ bastard words that felt empty with no real meaning.

Jax leaned against a tree, sliding down it and sitting on the soft grass of the forest. Phoenix came up to her owner, wagging her tail, and nuzzled Jax. She wanted him to feel better and cheer up. But Jax only sent her away in anger. Phoenix sat afar from Jax, watching her owner as the chilly air slowly sucked the life out of him. She watched as he started to tremble and hiccough from his sobs. All Phoenix could do was watch, since Jax wouldn’t let her near him. She was temped to go get help from the scary man, but he hurt her owner. She wasn’t about to bring him back into all of this. All she could hope for was that the scary man calmed down and notice that her best friend let some of his stuff there. Maybe that would prompt the scary man to look for her owner. She knew her owner would last long out here. Not without warmth.

Jax had sat below an acorn tree. Squirrels threw acorn shell down from the tree, and they hit Jax on the head. He heard their mean chatter, throwing more shells down to the forest floor. He, however, was stuck in his own mind. He relayed the scene over and over again, trying to win his argument while appealing to Cass’ standards. It didn’t happen. Not once. Jax drew his knees to his chest, curling his arms around his legs. He really was a screw-up, no doubt about it. Jax closed his eyes, tired of seeing the sun’s light. It made him anxious. But he couldn’t calm his mind, and he shivered with each breath the wind blew over him.

A little groan came too close for Phoenix's liking. She took her eyes away from her owner and sniffed the crisp air. Zombie— Phoenix padded over to where the scent was coming from, and she was face to face with a zombie. This zombie was too close to her owner. It's over all look was— torn, but Phoenix could use that to her advantage. She bit into the zombie's leg, bringing to down to the ground. She promptly pounced on it, making it sure it wouldn't be able to hurt her owner.

"Guys… c-can you stop fighting?" Peregrine pleaded softly, opening his eyes a little more to look up at them with blurry vision. He looked down at his hands, which were throbbing by now and still liked red and hot with infection. His fever was going steady as well, and he generally just looked like he was getting worse. He felt awful, and all the fighting was just making his head hurt.

(Lmao yes!)

Angela rolled her eyes "i speak the truth i don't sugar coat it just because it may hurt someone, you said something stupid so i let you know." The smug glare on her face showed that she was pleased with jesse's response she looked down pip fo a moment before shaking her head "well i- fine yes we will stop fighting i promise."

Jesse couldn't believe the guts in some of these people. Angela had come to her for help and shelter and Jesse gave it to her. Jesse thought they should be groveling on their knees and kissing her feet as they beg for Jesse to let them stay here.
Meanwhile, they act like they own the damn place and didn't even ask if they could stay.
A terrible thought crosses her mind and she dances around the idea for a minute, amused by how they would react if Jesse kicked them out and went on her way with Pip, leaving Shaun and Angela on their own.
She lets out a small laugh at the thought. Jesse genuinely couldn't care less about Angela or Shaun, but she didn't want to leave them before at least looting first. Steal what they have then let them die.
Sounded like a perfect plan to her.

@Dayzed business

Cherry let out a small nervous laugh at Jesse's not so much of a joke, cause truthfully it was surprising. She had played hide and seek with the zombies, running behind the shelves of the empty pharmacy and waiting to get a good angle on them, before stabbing their brains out. The last one had given her a little more trouble and a little more would have meant her death. Which was probably not that funny, but it seemed that recently with all the people she had run into, she liked to muse them more, as that meant they would be less angry, even if it meant that the joke was at her expense.
"Don't worry, I'll be an expert on hunting zombies before you know it" She smiled, mostly to herself, wondering if she even had a shot at that, or if she'd die fighting for her life.
Cherry grabbed the beans and took a knife she had on her, cleaning the knife off as best as she could. It wasn't the one she used to kill the zombies with, but one she had found recently. It wasn't the most sanitized knife either, but it did the trick.
After opening the can, which she most definitely struggled with, she looks at Pip.
"Do you think you can sit him up for a moment? I'd like him to eat before he passes out" Cherry said to Angela who seemed to be a little snappy with Jesse, though, Cherry, once again, said nothing. Mostly just ignoring anything problematic.
Before Angela can answer, Jesse tosses over the gauze, which didn't seem happy to do so.
"Thank you… and I'm sorry, I'll make it up to you" Cherry says softly, eyes on Jesse as she sits down, then looking away to attend to the kid, as if there was no bickering to be heard.
"Can I see your hands?" Cherry asks Pip gently.
Cherry didn't have anything to disinfect with and asking Jesse seemed like a little much right now, so until she could go back out there and find something useful like rubbing alcohol and more bandages, this was going to have to do. Maybe she'd ask Angela to go with her as she seemed pretty tough and could handle herself pretty well…sort of.

@Fraust

(I like how Jesse plans to keep Pip in her fantasy lol)
(Down to be an adoptive mother but not to have friends)
(She probably likes the idea of forming his little impressionable brain tbh)
Peregrine's head started bobbing a bit as he struggled to stay conscious, but he still forced himself to look up when Cherry addressed him directly. He groaned softly, trying to sit up properly, and offered his hands out to Cherry. He didn't know what she planned to do with them, exactly, but he was too delirious and exhausted to think about it anyways. Dog Man Jim sat in his lap since he wasn't holding onto him anymore.

"Mmnh… are you gonna fix 'em? Do we gotta am… apmu… uhm…" He blinked slowly a couple times, squinting as he tried to recall the word he was looking for. "Puteate it? Apu… mutate."

(haha Jesse won't leave a child with Angela and Shaun! XD)
(and yes, she hopes to make a mini Jesse >:)

Jesse keeps her hazel eyes on Cherry, liking the sentence "ill make it up to you" implying she was going to gain something from this.
It was always nice to know when you got something out of doing something to help others. Though Jesse rarely helped someone if she knew she would get nothing out of it.
"yeah yeah, we talk later" she says with a wave of her large hand.
She looks to Pip, obviously very amused by his fear and naivety "yeah ill have to do it because i have bigger knife" she says, pulling the machete from her belt loop and setting it on the table in front of them. "you ready to lose your hands?"
