"Listen, I won't judge if you're transgender. Nobody is really supposed to be anything except for who they want to be, and it's okay if- wait, you probably mean that whoever this Zeus person is just wanted a daughter rather than a son, right? Oh dear lord, I feel like an idiot." she felt heat rise to her cheeks.
"Ugh, it was mainly Apollo who got the attention though. Leto tried her best." Havenwood smiled humorlessly. "Sorry, I'm not trans, I was supposed to be a female, and Zeus got all pissed off. Yeah, he wanted a daughter for the God of Hunting."
"Okay, pause. Maria be confused. Dafuq you mean by gods and goddesses?"
"I come from Mount Olympus. I'm the God of Hunting, so they send me out looking for humans of potential."
"Oh, just… Y'know the Gods want to take stuff from humankind because they took fire and did all of this with it. I hate this job, trust me. Zeus makes me do it because he's too lazy to get off of his royally large ego." Havenwood leaned back into the chair with an annoyed sigh.
"So I'm basically going to become a sacrifice. Right? Is that what you're implying? Because if so, I'm to young to die." she said, using a serious tone and her best poker face.
"No. I'm not going to kill you. You're going to become a technician… but it's obvious that you're not one, so Zeus was wrong." Havenwood laughed. "Can't wait to tell him."
"A technician. Okay. Lovely."
"No, Zeus will just find another one, and your mind will be erased from any and all scraps of me." Havenwood shrugged. "I suppose you're relieved to hear that."
"Actually, no. I'm not. I'd much rather keep my memories, thank you so very much."
"Ahh, it'll just be of me. That's why I'm telling you so much. Prometheus will probably pop in here and yell at me for telling you too much…" He sighed, his annoyed tone ringing even through it.
"That, or I could just take the stupid job and hope I don't die."
"You're not a technician though. You only make the plans. It… would be rather pointless to take you, no offense or anything. I really like these paintings."
"Well, it wouldn't be too difficult to manage. If I had the proper materials and the time I could make these, but it would be difficult. I would probably need an assistant." Maria said.
"I can help. The reason they sent me is because you'd be assisting me. I like doing other stuff other than hunting, miraculously." He scowled and rolled his eyes. "I learned a lot from Hephaestus, the God of Blacksmithing… since he was my half-brother and all. He's great."
"Well, it wouldn't be to hard to assist a god. I think. Just show me what to do, I'm a quick learner. Very quick." she said.
"Good. I'll report back to Zeus. Wanna come with me?" Havenwood sat up a little.
"I guess so." Maria said.
Havenwood stood and looked down at her. "I'm… Artemis. You can call me by my made up surname: Havenwood." He stuck out his hand, which was lightly scarred and muscular.
"Havenwood. Do you have a nickname or anything, because it would probably save time. I don't want to pronounce that many syllables."
"It's just three syllables. It won't kill you."
"Alright, so can you put this on? It'll stop the Gods from hopping on you like bears on honey." He gave her the locket that he previously took from her.
"Right. Okay." she said, putting on the locket.
