"No." He says sadly. "They're trying to find a cure." He chuckles softly before looking into the water. He wanted his parents here. He was scared, he didn't know what to do. He wanted his parents to be here if he did die. He glances at Rowan and smiles a tiny bit. "But they're wonderful people."
Rowan’s eyes widened a little when she heard they were trying to find a cure for Alvor. “They sound really nice. I hope they find you a cure,” She said sincerely, offering a small smile. She inched into the deeper water -something she had never dared do before- and used her right arm to keep herself steady and above water.
He smiled a bit before sighing. "Yeah. They are. And I hope so to. Maybe papa can help you. Since you're so kind towards me." He says softly.
Rowan’s eyebrows raised, “Do you really think he could help me?” She raised up her left hand, trying her best to hide the pain that came with the action. Her hand was stuck in a crumpled position as it had been for the past few months, “So far no one has been able to help me open my hand even.” Rowan said like it didn’t bother her, but in reality it was crushing. How much she longed to move her left arm again without experiencing pain was immeasurable.
He nods and smiles. "My dad healed a huge gash on my back. He's mended bones. I'm sure that he can help in some way." He says happily, looking really proud before going into a hacking fit, coughing up a few petals. He groans and leans against the wall of the pool.
Rowan’s small smile vanished when Alvor coughed again, pulling herself to the side of the pool next to him. She moved her right arm to push away some of the petals in the water—she knew the staff didn’t mind, they were used to cleaning up a lot of the things and they even told her they’d rather let patients have fun in the pool and have to clean up a lot more than have the patients confined to their beds.
Alvor groaned softly before coughing harshly again, hacking up a full flower. He heaved and gagged before slowly calming down. "S-sorry." he mutters as he wipes at his lips, shuddering and shivering harshly.
“You’re okay, you don’t have to apologize for something you can’t control,” She told him immediately, her face full of concern. But she grabbed the full flower by the stem, attempting a smile, “Besides, I happen to like flowers.”
He smiles and offers Rowan a gentle smile before looking at the flower and then looking at her. He smiled a little shyly. "I'm glad then." He laughs a little but looks down and sighs.
Rowan set the flower free into the water, along with the other petals to float on the surface. It looked elegant, almost changing the mood into something else… “I’m sure your dads will find a cure, Alvor. I just have a feeling.” Rowan smiled, before a thought occurred to her. “Wait, so your disease… flowers grow in your lungs or something, right?”
He smiled a little before watching the flowers float. He looked over at her and smiled gently. He leaned against her tiredly, sighing happily. "Yeah… I hope so." he mutters. He looked up at her and nods slowly. "Yeah… It does." He says quietly.
“I wonder if I could try to make them grow slower?” She mumbled, but her brain was already calculating how she could do it. She never tried slowing a plant’s growth before, but if it gave Alvor an extra day or so…
He sighed weakly, before looking at her. "Are you sure…? I wouldn't want to impose on anything." he mutters as he coughed harshly again, a few more petals falling into the water. "S-sorry…" He mutters as he leans against her weakly.
“You’re okay,” She said, glancing at her right hand. She hadn’t used her powers in a while, but maybe it could help subdue Alvor’s coughing a little? “And you aren’t imposing. I… I want to help if I can.” Rowan told him, before cautiously maneuvering around Alvor so he was in between the wall and her. A small part of her hoped he wouldn’t notice that she wasn’t technically female in fear of him suddenly hating her because of it when they were so close to each other like this. “Err, sorry, I need to get a little close to do this,” She mumbled with pink already tinting her face in the slightest. Rowan pressed her right hand to his chest and hooked her left arm around his neck so she didn’t fall backwards.
He smiled a little at her before sighing softly. "As you wish." He says quietly as he smiled weakly at her. He allowed her to do what she wished and smiled. He trusted her fully despite only being at the hospital for a day or so. He noticed the pink before smiling a little. He allowed her to hold onto him. Yes, he did notice, but he was pansexual, and nor did he care. "Sorry." He mutters hoarsely.
“Y-You’re okay,” She mumbled, her face betraying her and turning redder. But she made herself focus. Rowan closed her eyes, channeling as much energy as she could into her hand. The tips of her fingers began to glow slightly with a light green tint, and then she delved deeper. Rowan could almost feeling the parasitic flowers in Alvor’s lungs. Then she willed her power into him, through him. Directly to the flowers, trying to restrain their growth. By the time she had finished her attempt, her breaths came out heavy and she sagged against Alvor.
He smiled a little before wincing as he tried to hold back a cough so he wouldn't puke flowers all over her. He shut his eyes as well, willing his energy to her, trying to help her. He felt his lungs ease a little bit before he let himself relax into the warmth of her magic. He gently holds her in the water, leaning against her a little bit. "You're truly a blessing." He mutters softly.
“You think so?” She mumbled, too tired to get nervous when she leaned her head into his shoulder. After not using her powers in what felt like forever, it drained more energy than she had anticipated.
"Yes." He whispers as he held her. He smiled warmly at her and held her gently. He ran a hand through her hair and gave a little sigh. He let her rest against him as he rested against the wall of the pool, being able to breath at least a little clearly now. "Thank you."
“Your welcome then. I’m… I’m glad I could help,” Rowan mumbled with a tiny smile, for a second, letting herself relax in Alvor’s arms. He smelled nice…. Rowan finally made herself shift out of his arms, her cheeks turning redder. She was so preoccupied at how embarrassed she was, that she didn’t get a good hold on the wall when she let go of Alvor. Rowan felt herself start to slip a moment before it actually happened, letting out a yelp as her head slipped under the water and she choked on it.
He smiled a little. "Thank you for helping." He mutters as he smiled a little in reply. He hummed as he settled into the water. He loved holding her close. He sighed as she shifted out of his arms. He noticed the red in her cheeks and his cheeks turned red in reply before smiled sweetly. He starts when she fell into the water before gently grabbing her and pulling her above the waters surface, carrying her to the shallow side. "Are you okay?" He asks, gently hovering over her, his hand settling on her cheek.
Rowan coughed a little, clinging to Alvor like a cat. She couldn’t stop her body from shaking, and her heart from pounding. I could’ve died, all because I’m an idiot. “I- I-“ She coughed again, tightening her grip on Alvor, “Th-that was terrifying.”
He held onto her, his breathing shaky. "You gave me quite the scare there." He chuckles softly as he cradled her gently. He smiled down at her before holding her close. "Are you alright?" He mutters, his face close to hers. He gazes at her, "Your eyes…" He whispers.
Rowan’s heart finally began to slow, “Y-Yeah, just really shook up,” She replied with a small laugh, one hand slipping around Alvor while her left hand -even in it’s painful form- rested against Alvor’s warm chest. For a second, she almost forgot about the pain. “M-my eyes?” She whispered back, suddenly blushing again.
He smiled a little as she laughed. God… That laugh. He wanted to hear it all the time. He leaned close, his eyes gazing into hers. His breath was a little shaky as he gazed at her. "They're breathtaking." He whispers as he gazes at her. He smiled a little bit as he gazed at her.
