"I don't suppose it's a big humanoid with wings?" Elise chuckles softly.

"I don't suppose it's a big humanoid with wings?" Elise chuckles softly.
(the NJ devil?)
"No it's-" He was cut off by a loud thud from the window.
"Shhhh…" Havenwood pressed his finger to his lips, despite being badly startled by the noise, and wrapped his arms around Elise.
(Look it up OMG THIS COMMERCIAL YOUTUBE MUSIC ABOUT PPG PAINT IS SO ANNOYING)
Conscience flew up between the two of them, Elise's fingers turning cold in fear. But she kept her breathing steady and quiet.
Havenwood pulled Elise closer as another thud rocked the bedroom window.
(oOF - can I be the thing?)
(noo i am the thing)
(fineee go because idk what to do lol)
(hehheheehehehe)
Another thump to the window broke it. Havenwood seized Elise and Conscience and shoved them underneath the bed.
Havenwood, however, was too late to join them and froze up against the wall.
The thing leaked into the room, absolutely silent, but the chill that ran up Elise's spine wasn't fictional.
Stars, you know what to do. Shed some light. Elise trembled, Conscience clutching her cheese next to her. A small star flew close to the window, making a ring of light appear around the thing, putting it in a blinding spotlight.
It roared angrily and swept out of it. Unfortunately, Elise's decision was a bad one, and the Shadow had spotted Havenwood, who stared at it.
It lunged towards him, and Havenwood barely ducked out of the way.
(what no that was brilliant)
(lIGHT DOESN"T WORK ON SHADOWS I TOLD YOU THAT)
(AHHHHHHHHHHH FRICK NEVER MIND)
"Stay. Don't go." Conscience whispered to Elise - a good decision on her part, for once. Elise shut her eyes and grit her teeth.
Havenwood slipped out of the bedroom, coaxing it away from Elise and Conscience.
It roared and followed quickly, slamming Havenwood down to the ground once it reached him.
Havenwood noticed a gun on the counter and flailed underneath the Shadow, trying to throw it off.
Come on, Havenwood. Stay in for just a second.
"Elise - what are you doing?" Conscience hissed, but Elise shimmied out from under the bed and opened up the floorboards, crawling into the dim crawlspace underneath, ordering Conscience to come with. Conscience sighed and obeyed.
As they crawled underneath the house, Conscience flew in front of Elise. "What are you doing?"
"Shut up." Elise took a gun out of her waistband and pointed it up at the ceiling. "I'm shooting the thing."
"You might hit Havenwood!"
"You're doubting my aim?"
Elise shot.
(make it not hit havenwood but hit the thing please)
(cakles WHAT WOULD A WRITER BE HUH? WITHOUT DRAMMA AND BLOOOOD?????)
Havenwood noticed her aiming and rolled out of the way so that he was smothering the thing.
"DON'T TRY TO KILL ME, ELISE!"
"I'M NOT!" The bullet found the thing's shoulder, missing Havenwood by inches. Conscience sighed and facepalmed. "You owe me, like, ten blocks of cheese."
The Shadow howled in pain and Havenwood threw it off. It slammed up against the wall and slumped down.
"I just saved all our butts, Conscience. I think you owe me." Elise dusted off her hands and reloaded the gun, lying in wait.
Havenwood walked over and prodded the Shadow. It stirred feebly and roared at him.
"Cock the gun, please." Conscience shivered and flew behind Elise. "You never should have taken up the offer to fight."
Elise sighed. "Now's not the time for reminiscing, Conscience."
Havenwood glanced at Elise. "Kill it. I'll repair the window."
Elise glared at the thing and shot it in the chest. It let out a painful groan, then slumped over. Conscience flew out from behind her, advancing cautiously towards the thing. "Give me cheese if I'm wrong, but that looks a whole lot like the New Jersey Devil." Elise cocked her head and examined the thing. "You're right. That's weird. It sounded like it too. Remember that time we stayed the night in Jersey and heard it once?" Conscience shivered. "Don't remind me, princess."
Havenwood rolled his eyes and lifted it up. "Maybe in the darkness, it does, but it looks nothing like it. Get outta my face with those stupid similies." Havenwood flicked on the lights. The Shadow didn't have a face at all.
"Oh, yikes."
"Not the Jersey Devil."
"Nope."
"Need any help? Will there be more? Are you okay?"
