Rose copied Emilia’s actions, splashing some water up onto her face.
Rose copied Emilia’s actions, splashing some water up onto her face.
Emilia looked out into the forest, enjoying the birdsong and sunshine.
‘Hey,’ Lisa whispered.
“What?” Rose responded back.
Emilia ignored Rose's whispered comment and shut her eyes.
‘Do you remember that time the time you went to Puerto Rico?’
“Ya, why?”
‘I don’t know, I just wanted to think of something different.’
“Ok, that’s weird.”
Emilia laid down and half-opened her eyes to look up. Nature was so much prettier than from what she remembered.
“Hey Emilia, do you think we could eat some bread, or should we save it for later?” Rose's stomach growled with her question.
"Yeah, here you go." She handed the other some bread.
“Thanks,” she took the bread a nibbled on it wanting to make it last.
Emilia shut her eyes again, the sunlight burning orange behind her eyelids.
Rose let the sunlight deep into her skin, making her feel all happy inside.
Emilia felt her brittle black hair. It was very warm. I wonder why that happens…?
Rose wondered if they should get going, but the sun's relaxing warmth stopped the words from coming out.
Emilia set her hand down in the grass, which too was warm. She felt at ease there, so much that she could doze off.
‘Rose, you know we should get going.’ Lisa read her thoughts to her.
“Yes, I know we should get going, but it’s relaxing.” Rose responded.
‘Think about how it Weill feel once you can back up on your feet and eat real food.’ Rose smiled at that thought.
Emilia was slowly drifting off… until they heard voices.
"I know, Mike, but you have to realize how pretty it is!" It was a deep male voice.
"Sure but… hey, what's that over there?"
Emilia sat up and looked over. Two men approached them. They had hiking gear on.
Rose heard masculine voices and looked up to see two men in hiking gear. She glanced at Emilia to see if she saw them too.
Emilia slowly stood staring at them.
One of the men raised his hands to show he meant no harm, and the other grinned. The one that grinned was short yet broad-shouldered; he had shoulder length brown hair and sparkling blue eyes. The second (with his hands in the air) was taller and skinnier, he had dark brown eyes and was neatly shaven with shortly cut black hair.
The taller man swallowed a little. "What are you girls doing out here? Aren't you hungry, thirsty?" He traced seemed to have traced out their states, which wasn't very hard to do.
She noticed Emilia saw them too, so that comforted her a bit. Rose nodded harshly when he asked if they were hungry and thirsty. She could see that they meant no harm.
The shorter man walked over, and Emilia watched him with distrust in her eyes. "We have a cabin just up the way. If you'd like we can take you two there?"
Rose wanted to, but decided to let Emilia make the choice, she seemed to have better judgment.
Emilia nodded slowly. "Sure, I guess it's better than nothing." She glanced at Rose. "What do you think?"
Rose nodded at Emilia get nervous around the new people. ‘Sounds Like fun,’ Lisa budded in.
“I know,” she smiled.
The little man smiled warmly. "This is what we were waiting for, Mike!" He turned to the other. "Kids!"
Mike nodded and stepped forward. "This is great. The government wouldn't let us have kids because we were gay." He grinned sheepishly. "Anyway, we'll take great care of you girls. We're not bad men. I'm Mike and this is Oliver."
Oliver waved and his smile grew wider.
Lisa bent over to Rose's ear, 'I was sorta shipping them.'
"I was too." She smiled.
