Felix took the map, stuffing it back in his pocket with a grimace. "Yes, thank you." He replied crisply. "And yes, we are taking this route for a reason." He looked at Felix with his lips pressed in a thin line.

@Calanthe

"Hhmph." Was all Elias could say, he didn't really want to stay around Felix much longer, "Does this mean that I have to go back to brig?" He questioned, truly hoping the answer would be a no.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Felix shrugged. "Depends. Are you going to behave?" He questioned, arching his eyebrows at Elias questioningly. "I don't want to have to, but I will."

@Calanthe

Elias sighed, looking around not really wanting anyone else to hear this conversation, "Goodness, you sound like my father." He mumbled, "And yes, I do plan on it, but do understand that if I do try to escape again, it's nothing against you, it's just that I really do not want to be aboard any longer, and that I may have finally lost it." He shrugged and sighed again, "I know that you want to help, or at least I think you do, but I know that whatever you have to do will need to help you and your crew, and me but I'm not the most important in this. So, perhaps me leaving might be my best chance, or you leaving in the brig works as well, although that is not my first choice."

@ElderGod-Icefire

Felix raised his eyebrow just a little at Elias's words. "I would like to help you, yes, but I can only do that if you cooperate. My crew is more important to me than you." His words were blunt, matter of fact.

@Calanthe

Elias sort of smiled a bit, as if he was expecting Felix to say that, "Understandable, they aren't going to try to kill me though? I saw the looks of pure rage they were giving me earlier. And I'd rather die at the hands of a shark, or anything then them."

@ElderGod-Icefire

Felix hummed faintly. "They will not harm you, no. I already spoke to them about it." he looked at Elias, cocking his head just a little bit.

@Calanthe

Elias chuckled slightly, "Hhm, we shall see about that. I do hope that they keep their word." He crossed his arms glaring back at Felix, "You know, I hate to say this to you now, especially at this moment, but you are a very difficult person and scary." He muttered, "But, I wonder, you don't seem like the kind of man who would end up in a world of things like this. In fact, what led you onto this path?"

@ElderGod-Icefire

Felix shrugged. "They shouldn't." he replied, then frowned a little bit. "Well, I started out as a privateer." he replied, rolling up his sleeves and leaning on the railing. "And then my status as a privateer got revoked and I didn't want to stop. So now I'm a pirate."

@Calanthe

Elias nodded, "But why did you start out as a privateer? I would think that you could easily have gotten a job anywhere on land, or you could have been a captain of a fleet of ships, but why that? Especially since it is so dangerous?" He shook his head in confusion.

@ElderGod-Icefire

He tipped his head a little, considering that. "I wanted something exciting." he finally replied, looking at Elias and shrugging his shoulders again. "Besides, there's no one to care if I die."

@Calanthe

Elias shook his head, "Even an orphan has someone that would care about them." He sighed and just looked Felix up and down, "I don't think that this sort of life makes sense, it must be nice though, you know living out on the open sea. Nothing but the ocean that seems to go on forever." He smiled slightly, then tried to hide it, "I guess it is a very appealing life choice."

@ElderGod-Icefire

Felix sighed faintly. "Trust me. No one gives a shit if I die out here." he replied, looking out at the horizon. "I prefer the sea to the land anyway. Less rules, plenty of space…" he ran his fingers through his hair.

@Calanthe

"Wouldn't your crew?" Elias said still a bit confused about Felix's answers, "They would need you to lead them, a good captain, at least from what I know, shows that they care about their crew, and I think that you do. And if they appreciate it, why wouldn't they care?"

@ElderGod-Icefire

"Well, I guess they'd care, but they'd replace me anyways. No big deal." Felix replied. "This isn't the most…life preserving profession." He bit his lip a little.

@Calanthe

Elias sighed again, "I guess that makes sense, but couldn't you get the same thrill of being out on the open water maybe by being a merchant? Or a sailer, or is this what you truly wanted?" He shook his head, "I guess it suits some people, and not others. I think I'd be much to afraid of being caught if I was a pirate."

@ElderGod-Icefire

"Not a sailor, and not a merchant, no. It's not the same." He replied, unsure he could even begin to adequately explain why he preferred this life over any other.

@Calanthe

Elias nodded, half listening to him, and also trying to think of another escape route. He knew that it was probably a bad idea to try again, but he was scared of these people, he could try to hide it, but the truth was, he knew that his life at home might be safer - would be safer- than being out on this ship. "I know, but then the government wouldn't always be after your head."

@ElderGod-Icefire

"Ehh. I like this life, Elias, for good or for ill. Yes, someday I'll be caught and killed, but not now. Not yet. And until that day comes…why not enjoy life?" He responded with a shrug.

@Calanthe

" I wouldn't be able to if I was in you position, I'd be worried all the time. And how can you even say those words, admit to knowing that you might die with such calmness." He shuddered a bit, " I understand the lifestyle choice, in fact, I envy you, but not the fear of dying, that I can live without."

@ElderGod-Icefire

Felix cocked his head a little bit. "I've known I'd die for a long time. I may not know the specifics, but I've made my peace with it. It's why I do things as soon as I can, rather than wait for them."

@Calanthe

Elias laughed a little, not in a rude or teasing way, but simply because he couldn't help it. He soon composed himself again and gazed up at Felix, "But. . .but. . .but." He couldn't really think of anything to say, "I don't understand you. I don't know how one could live knowing that they could die in such a painful and brutal way."

@ElderGod-Icefire

Felix shrugged. "Everyone could die brutally. I just have a higher likelihood." he replied, laughing a little bit. "And you don't really need to understand me, Elias. Just tolerate it, I suppose."

@Calanthe

Elias smiled a little at the last statement, "I guess I'll have to try then, I doubt it'll be much longer, then I won't be worrying about your horrendous death." It felt so odd to say that, he would never wish for anyone to die, even this man and his crew, but to know that they had accepted their deaths made him feel so scared, and quite uncomfortable.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Felix hummed a little bit. "Alright." He replied with a shrug. "And not all of my men have the same mentality. It's just something I've made my peace with."
