"Like you always do." She turned to look at her. "I swear, it's like you don't want to talk to us even though we're literally the only people to talk to." She smiled lightly.

Melody walked through the wasteland. She had been walking for almost two days and was running out of supplies fast. The 12 month old baby in her arms was thankfully asleep. She had just enough supplies to last another day. She had stolen a lot before running away from civilization. She heard that there were rebel groups around here and hoped to be able to find shelter with one. She saw a dinner(?) up ahead and walked towards it. (if I got anything wrong please tell me)

Nate smiled devilishly at the thought and wandered off.

She shot a pointed glare at Nate as he walked off before shaking her head. "Whatever will I do with that boy?" She muttered to herself.

He came back with granola bars, “I have a few ideas of what you could do with him,”

She flipped him off over her shoulder, not daring to turn around.

She wasn’t looking so he let his smile drop. The goofy one everyone knew so well, he wore it on his face everyday even if it was fake. “Ouch,”

She tapped her finger on the table as a twitch, chewing on her bottom lip in thought. Her face was blank, lost in her own mind, working something out.

He slapped the smile back on his face to pass in front of her and sit down at a table. “When will our new pet wake up?”

Melody finally made it to the front of the diner. She looked through the window and saw some people sitting inside. She knocked on the door not wanting to just barge in.

"Quiet. I'm thinking." She mumbled, biting on her lip harshly. She tasted iron and put her hand to her lip. When she pulled away, it was red. Blood. She sighed. "Chewed through it again. Not surprising."
