"What's your name?" She clasped her hands behind her back, squeezing her fingers, another anxious tic she'd picked up over the years.

Melody opened the door and stepped inside. She took in her surroundings. ”im Melody Addams, ” she said. She decided that telling the truth would be her best bet. Her little somehow still slept in her arms.
Caroline stood still, looking over the girl with a blank stare. She glanced over at Nate. "What do you think? I'm not sure that we've got the supplies to take on another two people. One, sure, three, not so sure."

“We don’t have the supplies,” he sighed in response. “But I can’t send them away.” Seeing the kid, he flipped is gone into his back pocket… “Do you need me to take her? we have beds were she can rest,”
She sighed heavily, closing her eyes. Her head was spinning like a top, this was too much at once. She rubbed her temples, hoping the action would help clear her head.
Nate stood a little closer to Caroline, almost protectively as he gently put a hand on her shoulder.
She opened her eyes again, allowing his touch to be her anchor to reality as she sorted out her thoughts.
”I have some supplies on me and I think I know where we can get more, ” she said looking at them for. She then turned to the boy and held held sister closer. ”if you don't mind could you just tell me where they are.”

He understood protecting what you have left after losing everything, he understood it all too well… “In the back, they’re through those doors and down the hall,”
She unconsciously reached up and grasped her locket. Everyone she knew and loved had been ripped away from her right in front of her eyes. She'd lost everyone. Nothing left to protect but her own legacy. Her heart panged like it always did when she thought about everyone she'd lost. She fought back the tears, no time for that now.
“Thank you so much,” she said giving a small smile. She took her sister to were the beds are and sat her down on an empty one.
(I’m going for the night)
“Are you doing alright Care?” Nate forced himself to lock eyes with her and spoke only so she could hear him.
(I’m going for the night)
(Night!)
She blinked away the memories. Looking weak now would only destroy their trust in her. "What? Yeah, I'm fine. Perfectly fine."

He gave her a charming smile, he could see her pain and really hoped she couldn’t see his. “Are you hungry? I have granola bars,”
She couldn't help but stare into his eyes with a look that seemed to pull back every layer of him and inspect it with a fine tooth comb. She knew he was hurting but she also knew he'd never talk about it, much like how she never talked about her past before they'd all met.
He immediately looked away, he didn’t want people to truly see him. He liked his facade and he wouldn’t let a foolish crush ruin what he’d built. “I have chocolate chip and peanut butter ones,”
"Hmm? Oh, it's alright. I'm fine. Don't worry about me." I've lost track of how many times I've said those exact words.
“I always worry about you,” he said mumbled and grabbed one for himself.
"You don't need to, I can take care of myself." She muttered. Famous last words.
“We don’t have many beds… I hate to point this out but with all the extra people… you might actually have to bunk with me,”
Her heart skipped a beat. Out of all the people to have a silly schoolgirl crush on, it had to be him. "Well, you gotta do what you gotta do." She prayed to the Lord above that she wasn't blushing as hard as she was on the inside.
“Wait hold up… is that a blush? Well shit, I finally got real emotion out of you?”
