Hinata winced a little as Julian's exploits were explained, shaking her head a little. It made sense, she supposed. He had been perfectly fine with taking Matthew's power…
"People like that make me sick," she said when the figure finished. "Always wanting more."
The figure nodded.
”Perhaps he wasn’t satisfied with what he had… that in itself, though, is a sin to me. I don’t mean that people can’t wish for more, but to get more, you just gotta work more. Stealing and cheating are only going to pull you down to the deeper end of society” the figure started to talk before shaking his head.
”I’m rambling again am I not?” he chuckled a bit as he let his hood down.
The man was revealed to have medium-lengthened and messy white hair with, as previously mentioned, pure white eyes. He sighed a bit before looking back up to Hinata.
”My name is Vincent Ezra, a Viscount of the Labyrinth”
"Nice to meet you. I'm Hinata Hayashi, Balance Keeper." She smiled a little.
"And I have to agree with you. That kind of stuff… it's not good for anyone, even the person doing it."
The eyes of the newest Viscount were kind and warm, reflecting the light of the ‘sun’ within the Labyrinth.
When Sora walked towards Matthew, though, Vincent’s eyes turned bloodshot red.
”Who did you just kill?” he asked the Bartender plainly.
”A lousy customer who threatened to hurt other customers, why?” the Bartender answered as the eyes of the Viscount turned to a golden yellow before turning to his natural ghastly white.
”Alright…” the Viscount ended with a small sigh.
”So, Hinata. Can I ask you something… a bit personal?”
(Take note of the color changes, try to come up with what they could mean)
(thanks for the tip!)
Hinata listened as Vincent and Sora talked, wondering just who he had killed. She blinked a little when Vincent addressed her, not expecting.
"Uh… Sure. But no guarantees I'll answer."
Kazumi smiled.
"Come on–" they turned towards the plains "–follow me, I'll show you some nice views along the way" the horse they were on started pacing down.
Kye allowed his to follow and examined the area around them. It was an odd area. Settling and unsettling at the same time. He felt safe and like he was in constant danger. But he couldn't complain about the land. It was complex and diverse and he liked it quite a bit.
I just thought of something.
What?
Is it possible that he could be here?
I guess maybe, but that was almost seven years ago.
Yeah but if he is here and there ever comes a time, we could possibly find him and get his help.
Let us try and avoid that if at all possible, for two reasons. One, he probably would not be very pleased with it. And two, that would need to be a really bad situation to need his help again.
True. But keep it in mind.
”Would you or would you not sacrifice another Knight’s or Viscount’s life to save Matthew…?” the Viscount asked with much seriousness in his eyes. His eyes showed a golden yellow tone.
Kazumi would soon lead Kye across the plains, pointing at a large statue in the middle of the field.
”That is a sculpture of a Warrior who created the plains; his name is Fleura Chord. He was claimed to have died protecting this here plain but we couldn’t really confirm that” the Knight explained.
Hinata thought for a moment. Would she? She had never really thought about it, but the answer was pretty plain to her.
"Yes," she said, looking the Viscount dead in the eye. She'd do just about anything to keep Matthew safe.
”Let’s up the anti a little bit…” the Viscount looked straight into Hinata’s mind, bearing a small essence of himself into her soul.
”Would you sacrifice Serena’s life… for Matthew’s…?”
Hinata hesitated at this new question, mostly because of her differing emotions. On one hand, she would do it in a heartbeat if it meant Matthew would life. But on the other… she didn't think Matthew would ever forgive her if she did that. All in all, it was very conflicting.
"I…" She didn't know how to respond.
The Viscount’s golden eyes turned back to his natural white.
”Thank you for not answering immediately…” the Viscount’s voice was shaking a bit for some apparent reason. He turned away and sighed.
He seemed to mouth the words… Serena, don’t…
He turned back to face Hinata and stood up.
”Apologies, I need to go” his voice was still shaking. He slowly paced away. His pace, though, got faster, almost in a panicking way.
Matthew would soon sit upright.
”Where… Where did Vincent go?” he asked, still not fully aware of his surroundings. He reached up to his head, massaging it like he had a headache.
Hinata watched the Viscount go. Just what was his relationship to Serena? She turned to Matthew when he sat up.
"He didn't say," Hinata said, looking concerned.
As Jade would stare at the book, the texts were unclear as to what they were trying to convey.
Soon, the man on the beanbag closed his book and looked around and upon seeing Jade, stood up and walked to her.
”Whatcha’ looking at?” he asked as he walked. He didn’t look like threat, or even if he was, he didn’t look like he could harm anyone.
Jade looked at the figure curiously "I don't know I can't read it I mean it looks familiar but it's hard to understand" her face contorting in frustration a small growl trying to escape her throat
Matthew nodded.
”Well, did he say anything? Like, anything at all?” the man asked. His natural green eyes seemed to have dimmed a little bit. Perhaps due to the lack of energy.
(Your choice on what to say…)
"He just asked me some questions about myself," Hinata said. "He also told me some things about Julian."
Matthew smiled a bit then nodded.
”Well, I think I might give… Ray and Asher a visit… you remember them?” he turned to ask Hinata as he stood up.
(It’s okay if you don’t know them, I referred to them in a different discussion)
(Yours truly is blind again •_•)
The man chuckled softly and looked at the book closely.
”Oh, that’s an ancient draconic language. It’s completely normal if you can’t read it. It reads ‘Exploring the Different Types of Draconic Magic’” the figure claimed, eyeing each symbol.
"That's why is was familiar" Jade mused to herself. Asra her magic teacher had taught her some Draconic but she never remembered it "C-can you help me read it i've always been intrigued by Draconian language?"
Hinata stood as well, straightening herself up a little from the fight.
"Um… No, not entirely."
The man looked at the grandfather clock within the room.
”Unfortunately, I can’t. I have to go to patrol” the Knight said, walking over to another part of the room and grabbing the sheathed blade that was leaning against the wall.
”I don’t mean to be rude but please leave. I’ll need to lock the door”
Matthew gave a rueful smile.
”Well, do you want to go see them? Since they liked you as well” the man of Nature asked and added as he looked around the field.
"Sure, I don't see why not." Hinata wasn't really concerned with re-meeting people, though. She was still very concerned for Matthew's wellbeing, and she wanted to keep an eye on him for a bit.
Matthew soon led Hinata into the plains. The sky was going amber, the Knights would have to return to the palace soon.
Eventually they would arrive at where Ray and Asher were…
Matthew knelt down beside the gravestones and shed a small tear.
He used his ability to create two bouquets of white roses; one for his wife, Ray, and one for his only son, Asher.
(If you hear a far off shattering sound don't worry, it's only mY HEART)
Hinata followed Matthew quietly, suddenly feeling very, very regretful for not remembering. She stood next to Matthew in silence, letting him do what he needed to.
