Charlie laughed, crossing her arms over her chest as she watched Chakuro fly away. She looked around, trying to spot August. Hopefully Noa had found him.

Eventually, August was ready for the ball. He stood in front of a mirror, looking at his appearance. He was dressed in a nicer, simple black suit. He had managed to say he didn’t want anything too flashy. Random people trying to talk to him tended to be awkward, as they were unaware of him being deaf. He adjusted the black mask, traces of silver coating it. It slightly blocked his vision, and he wasn’t that fond of that.
A maid found Charlie, scolding her for not staying with them. They led her towards the room again, putting her hair up in an bun that was elaborately braided in the back. A few strands of curled hair were left out, framing the rose embroidered mask on her face. Charlie fidgeted in her seat, wondering where August was.
August’s eyes shifted to his hair. The maids hand somehow managed to fix his usually wild hair so it was partly slicked back. He gave a hum, feeling his throat as he did so to feel teh vibrations in his throat. It was probably the closest he would ever get to hearing a voice.
Gabriela took a ribbon and tied her hair into an adequate braid, feeling that it would make her seem more 'elegant'. She rubbed her cheek, aware that she didn't have a mask to wear.
"Do you need a mask?" Genie asked Gabby.
Noa sat in front of the mirror silently as the maids finished up with her makeup. Jenna, her personal maid, stepped up and slid on the feathery mask, a dark blue one that matched the accents on her otherwise pale blue dress. “Thank you,” Noa said, standing up. “I’ll be checking on our guests now.”
They nodded and she slipped through the halls, knocking on Charlie’s door.
She nodded. "Most likely. I'd be out of place if I wasn't wearing one."
"I need one too," Genie smiled, "Let's go get them."
"Come in." Charlie called out as she stood up, running her hands over the rose embroidery that trailed down to the waist of her dress.
(What do I do with my char!!??)
Gabby looked around. "Where would they be?"
Two guards flanked his sides as they led him to the ballroom. The chancellor was speaking to him, "Chin up, puff out your chest, in fact, puff out your feathers too, gleam in eye, smile, oh no, you don't have dimples we shoul-"
Chakuro interrupted the chancellor, "You should shut up."
Genie walked up to one of the maids, "Excuse me do you know where the masks are?"
The maid pulled both her and Gabby into a dressing room.
Gabby looked around at the dressing room, in awe at the gorgeous outfits.
The maid handed Genie a mask. When on her face it appeared as if their were golden flames surrounding both of her eyes.
Gabby got handed a mostly white mask. The edge was lined with a fancy silvery-blue pattern.
“I thought you might like to visit August,” she said after waving the maids away.
Charlie nodded, trying to keep herself from running hand through her hair. She wished that it was in it's usual style. "You look amazing. . ."
“Thank you, you look wonderful too,” she said, opening the door.

"Thank you," Charlie smiled, fidgeting with her mask. "Is he getting ready?"
“Yes, he might be finished,” she said, leading her to August’s door.
Chakuro put on his own mask, made out of black feathers. He leaned onto his cane and shuffled to the ballroom, using it as support. The ballroom was crowded, all of them wanting to catch a glimpse of the new king. Before he was sent off to be front and center, the chancellor grabbed him.
"Chakuro, the people want a show. Give it to them." and then he released him, letting Chakuro into the crowd where everyone immediately descended upon him like a murder of crows. He tugged at his collar nervously and watched the people around him with wide eyes.
"He has horns!"
"And rainbow hair!"
"Ooh, ooh, look at his eyes!"
"All of you guys are forgetting about his HUGE wings! Oh my god! Can you fly me around?"
Chakuro managed a faint smile, freckles dancing across his cheeks when he remembered what the chancellor had said. Put on a show. He gave a curt nod to himself and faced the crowd, throwing his arms to his sides with a playful smile. "Hello, my name is Chakuro. Or your majesty. But, tonight, I'll make an exception, and bow to you." he got onto his knees and threw back his head, causing his hair to fly in what seemed like an invisible wind.
