Kaz let out a small, pained laugh. “Look at me. I’m a fucking mess making my roommate hate me even more,” he said quietly, letting go of Vaughn to rub at his eyes
Vaughn released Kaz only then. Only because he let go of him first. “I never said that I hate you,” he muttered, head turning away to look elsewhere in the room.
Kaz scoffed, wiping at his eyes. “Everyone hates me,” he muttered under his breath, not thinking Vaughn could hear him as he physically cringed at how cliche his words sounded
“That’s no true,” Vaughn responded. Slowly, he got to his feet and stepped over to his bed, sitting on the end of it. It was much more comfortable than the floor.
Kaz startled slightly, realizing Vaughn had heard him. He got up as well, but instead of sitting on his own bed he went to sit next to Vaughn. “Can I sit here?” he asked shakily. He still felt horrible, but Vaughn’s presence seemed to be comforting somehow
Vaughn hummed, nodding as he scooted over a tad to make more room. His knee bounced as he glanced at the floor, jaw clenching softly. What was wrong with him?
Kaz started down at his hands. He actually really wanted Vaughn to hug him again. Preferably for a long time. And maybe kiss him. His last thought almost scared him with the realization. He looked over at Vaughn. Did he…like him?
Vaughn continued to look around, but felt eyes on him. He glanced over at Kaz, arching a brow in question. Why was he just… staring at him like that?
Kaz looked away, mumbling a quick “Sorry,” before pulling his knees up to his chest. His neck ached, and he wanted to lay down, but he wanted to stay near Vaughn. Decisions, decisions
“Why do you keep apologizing?” Vaughn asked. But his tone was a confused one. He didn’t understand what there was to apologize about.
“Because I keep doing the wrong thing..?” Kaz said, though it sounded more like a question than a statement. Had he not done something wrong? Fucking idiot, of course you did something wrong, his mind spat
“But you aren’t doing anything wrong…” Vaughn said slowly. Jesus, Kaz sounded just as confused as he was. This was a disaster.
Kaz made a noise of frustration, burying his face in his hands. “Sorry,” he said again, and his mind cackled. Ooh, you know what’d be amazing? If he was acting so weird around you because I told him you liked him? it laughed, and Kaz froze
Vaughn exhaled sharply. He had started to correct Kaz, but he simply shook his head slowly and shut his mouth again. He brought a hand up to run over the shorter side of his hair in thought.
“Hey, um. When I was…not me in the lab, did I tell you anything…weird? Or shocking?” Kaz asked, staring at the floor while his mind laughed giddily
“Called me pretty boy. Does that count?” Vaughn asked, voice monotonous. That had been extremely awkward, and slightly embarrassing. Why was Kaz asking about it?
“Oh no,” Kaz groaned, burying his face in his hands again. Told you I told him, Kaz. What’re you gonna do about it? his mind snickered
“I mean, it’s fine, I know it wasn’t you…” Vaughn said, trailing off towards the end of his sentence. Was he disappointed? Slightly. Would he tell Kaz that? No.
“I…Oh god, he actually told you, I didn’t think he would go that far,” Kaz whined, pressing his face further into his hands. Enjoy your living hell, his mind giggled
“Is there something else you’re not telling me?” Vaughn question per. Kaz was almost acting too embarrassed about something that wasn’t his fault. What was really going on here?
Kaz just made a strangled noise, his face going slightly red. “It’s just…You’re a very attractive person is all,” he said, trying to avoid just straight-up saying he liked Vaughn
Vaughn’s brow furrowed at that. Kaz thought he was attractive? And Kaz liked men. Did that mean that Kaz likes Vaughn? “Do you..?” He started, hoping that Kaz would know what he was trying to ask.
Kaz nodded. “Yeah,” he mumbled, his face effectively red. Good god, there was no way Vaughn liked him back, no one ever did. He probably just made everything awkward for them
(Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!)
(Lol we’re trying)
