"You could be. Yes. But you look like a kid." Baye smirks at her
"Yeah, yeah,"
Baye laughs and drops his hand. He sits back down on the wet pavement
"But, to clarify, I'm not a baby goat which is what a kid is, You should be calling me a child,"
Baye makes a face up at her, "Yeah? Is that right."
She made a face back at him.
(We should wait now)
"Thanks," Bela smiled kindly to the barista as he handed her the coffee. Opposite her, Arlo twitched and whined in his sleep, curled into a ball on his chair. The rain pounded harder outside and Bela had to bite her lip from screaming out in frustration. "Why is always raining when I take Arlo for a goddamn walk?" she muttered to herself. However, after a glance at the way her eyes' reflection glowed in the window, she willed herself to calm down and took a few sips of her coffee.
“Well hey, at least a body will degrade over time. Plastic bottles and bags won’t,” Erikos said with a small laugh. He took another sip of his coffee absently, his foot tapping against the tiles again out of habit
“Yeah, But doesn’t the water get all gross? Blood tastes like metal, it’s disgusting,” Cyrus said with his nose scrunched up in disgust. Something like that would be strange coming from a wendigo. They were supposed to love the taste of blood, crave it.
"Nah, by the time it reaches my river it's usually lost all the gross taste. Usually it'll wash up on the lake shore a mile down from me and one of the wendigos from the caves will come snatch it. You'd be surprised how many bodies wash up there. 200 years ago, my river used to be called the Hangman's Oasis," Erikos said
“The Wendigo’s take the corpses? Must not eat them, I know for a fact that fresh meat is even worse than normal meat. He took another drink of his coffee, the taste of blood and flesh being washed out of his mouth.
"Not sure what they do with them. I know one wendigo called Nami makes bone jewelry and stuff in her spare time. Works for me, since they get rid of whatever I or the other creatures in the water don't eat," Erikos said with a shrug

Cyrus’ nose scrunched up again and he gave a humming noise, shaking his head slowly. “Never talked with another wendigo before. I’d rather not get into a fight with another one. It would hate being around others.”
"Yeah, almost all the wendigos in the caves are mean. Nami's the only nice one really, but even she can be pretty damn scary," Erikos chuckled. He thought back to when he had first become a water spirit, where he had tried to take a corpse from a wendigo. That wendigo happened to be Nami, and to cut a long story short, he was missing an arm for a few weeks
“Most seem to be fine, they just get mean when it comes to food. They are constantly starving. Mine just fed the night before, and it’s already wanting me to let it feed,” Cyrus huffed in an annoyed manner, listening to it give small hisses and screeches.
"Yeah, Nami tore my damn arm off over a corpse once," Erikos laughed, gesturing with his left arm. "But hey, dead bodies show up all the time in my river, so feel free to hop over there and grab a bite or two."
Cyrus’ nose scrunched up again in disgust at the thought of willingly eating a dead body. “I’m good, thanks,” he said. He could have even sworn that the wendigo was grossed out by the idea of it not being fresh as well, because it shut up.
“Okay, just an offer,” Erikos said with a shrug. He went to take another drink of his coffee, frowning as he realized it was empty
Cyrus noticed Erikos’ expression and raised his brows at him. “How about you let me buy you another coffee? My way of saying thanks for chatting to me,” he offered.

Castor glanced up and noticed another boy sitting outside the cafe, seeming to be rubbing something off of a brightly covered object. Biting his bottom lip in thought, he pushed himself up after a moment, running a hand through his dark hair as he walked outside towards them. At least he might have a chance to start a conversation with someone.
Erikos broke into a wide smile at the offer. “Thanks, man. Gold coins you find at the bottom of the lake can only get you so much,” he chuckled
Cyrus laughed a bit as he finished the rest of his coffee. “What do you want? Just a coffee?” He asked, pushing to his feet and stretching his longer legs. He rolled his shoulders back, earning a few popping sounds from the movement.
