(Oh no, Avery is going to land right on top of them or something and Vaughn’s going to have a heart attack lmaooo)
“Kaz,” Vaughn breathed out in a greatful manner, releasing him. Kaz was only free for a member before he hugged Kaz close to his chest, pressing a kiss to the side of his head. “What is this stuff?” He asked, talking about the black substance.
"Well, you get the idea. Ready?"
"Uh…I'm assuming it's some kind of weird demon related thing. Blood, maybe?" Kaz asked, wiping at some of the drying black liquid as he sat up a little
“Blood?” Vaughn repeated in what sounded like a panicked tone. He looked at Kaz with big eyes that were filled with concern.
"Well I mean it could be something else. Don't know, that hasn't happened in a long time. Might be energy runoff, kinda like what happens sometimes with my cousin's roommate. Being an angel isn't fun either, apparently," Kaz said, waving Vaughn off. He didn't need to be concerned, he was fine
Dylan paused, doing a double take on the voices downstairs. No yelling, no sound of combat… perhaps they were done?
He slid down the stairs, holding a finger out to Avery. Wait a sec.
Avery sat at the top of the stairs, watching and waiting. She hated being injured. Hated it. With a passion.
"Kaz! You alive and well down there?"
"Yep, sorry about that," Kaz called from his spot on the floor, giving a thumbs up in their general direction. He was a little tired after that incident, but he ignored it, telling himself he was fine
Dylan went upstairs to give Avery a hand down the stairs, then formed a cane for her.
"It's just until the dizzyness fades off, and you're functioning a bit more, aya?" He took her hand in his and smiled weakly, "I don't want you to break your leg."
To Kaz he said, "So you did what I did. Except it did very different things to you than it did me."
"Apparently. Being half demon sucks normally, but that just gave me the most massive migraine I think I've ever had," Kaz replied, wincing slightly as he realized movement caused his head to throb painfully
"Yeah, well, I had a similar issue. I'm not fully human, if human at all, and apparently that drove my reaction completely haywire. Which reminds me, you never mentioned you were half-demon. That would've been handy to know. The only reason I knew about Vaughn was because the first time we met I tried to kill him, and he damn near broke one of my ribs." Dylan paused and sighed, trying to slow his breathing, then started again, "Sorry. Fun memories, those. Kinda reminds me of E."
Kaz chuckled a little, looking over at Vaughn. "Yep, that sounds about right. Vaughn wanted to break my ribs too when we first met," he said, giving the other a playful nudge before looking back over at Dylan
“And you blinded me for at least ten minutes,” Vaughn added, brows raised at Dylan. He got up from the floor and helped Kaz up, allowing the other to lean against him for support.
Kaz frowned at that. "Sorry, he what?" he asked Vaughn, leaning lightly against him as his head swam with the pain of movement. Kaon had grown quiet, but the migraine almost wasn't worth the silence
“Don’t worry about it. Like Dylan said, I hit him, so I deserved that,” Vaughn said. He knew how protective Kaz could get. And he was right, he did deserve it.
Kaz glared at him, his general protective instincts kicking in on their own. His glare held no real malice though, since the throbbing headache was keeping him from doing much at the moment. "Does anyone have some Tylenol or something? I feel like this migraine is about to kill me," he eventually asked
“I think I have some pain medicine in one of my bags out in the truck. Do you want me to get you some?” Vaughn asked, his tone shifting to more of a concerned one. He wasn’t fond of seeing Kaz in pain, not in the slightest bit.
"That would be fantastic, actually. Hell, I'd call Cas for some weed at this point, or alcohol," Kaz mumbled, the sound of his own voice now beginning to hurt his head
“I’m not kissing you or anything if you smell like weed,” Vaughn commented. He moved Kaz back to the couch, laying him down carefully. “I’ll be right back, okay?”
Kaz gave a tired thumbs up, slumping gratefully into the couch as he watched Vaughn leave through slightly blurry vision. He knew Vaughn didn't like weed, and frankly he wasn't the biggest fan of it, but it tended to be fantastic for both pain and anxiety
Despite his misgivings of Vaughn and his…partner, Dylan couldn't help but smirk and chuckle. For demons, they sure acted like decent people.
Half-demons, Dylan!
"Yeah. That was right after I got that power. We were chasing him out of the library, because we caught him peeking in on our little hideaway spot. One of our team chased him down, Avery and I followed, and just when I was about to break the stalemate with a cage, Wham!" He slapped one hand with another as though a car had hit a person, "I was on my back and cursing, cussing, kicking and screaming."
(Just wanted to let you guys know that I'm working today, so I won't be on much.)
Avery watched and listened silently, leaning on the cane with her good side. But really, though, a cane? She wasn't old, just injured. Ugh, why did she have to be hurt? It made life so much more difficult.
(If Dylan wanted to make an age joke:
- He can't. She's younger than him.
- He would've given her a walker.
XD
She'll probably be able to get moving again soon. The bullet wound wouldn't limit movement, it's blood loss she's contending with.)
Vaughn came back a few moments later with a bottle of pills and a small bottle of water. “I had every right to be curious, there was a secret passage way in the library,” he pointed out, sitting on the edge of the couch. He dumped two small pills into his hand before handing them and the water to Kaz.
