@Spider-man
"Its fine thanks though," he said trying to keep his small smile.
"Its fine thanks though," he said trying to keep his small smile.
Jay nodded a little. "So I-I…" He hesitated again. "Is there any hope for…us…at all? Eventually? Or should I just…give up now, before I get my heart broken?" He asked slowly, avoiding Finn's eyes.
Finn hesitated "I think I think there's a way. I'm turning 18 in a few months. Like I said as long as I get the money I can get poppy," Finn explained. "But I know that's a lot to ask…"
Jay chewed on his lower lip a little. "I-I…okay." he said quietly.
Finn nodded. O-okay um are you almost done with your breakfast?"
Jay nodded, and finished up the food. "There. Thank you."
"No problem," He said taking the empty plate and started doing the dishes.
He watched Finn for a moment, chewing on his lip, then looked away again.
Finn continued with the dishes. there was a dishwasher but he did them all by hand. placing them on the drying rack.
Jay watched him again. "Finn? What…are we doing today?" He asked slowly. "Am I going home now, or…?" He trailed off, not sure what to hope for.
"My aunt isn't coming back until Wednesday so you can stay for as long as you want. I don't really have anything to do today. I usually just chill on Saturdays," He explained.
Jay blinked, then nodded slowly. "Can I use your phone and call my dad then?" He asked quietly. "I-I need to at least tell him that I'm not going to be home, because…" Because maybe that means he won't beat me so bad when I get home.
Finn nodded taking out his phone and handing it to Jay. “I understand but…if you don’t want to go back I’ll help you figure something else out,” Finn suggested. He really didn’t want to see Jay get more hurt.
Jay hesitated, then shook his head a little. "I don't have anywhere I can go, Finn. And I'm only 17. Legally, I have to stay with them until I'm 18." He took the phone. "Thanks though."
“And legally he shouldn’t be hurting you,” Finn said biting his lip. He didn’t mean to say it not knowing how Jay would react but it slipped out.
Jay looked away. "It doesn't matter…" He replied slowly. "Besides, if I got taken away from him and my mom…where would I go? I'm too old for foster care or something, and…" He shrugged.
“One technically you’re not to old for foster care unless you’re like turning 18 next week but the system’s screwed up especially around here. I told you I’d help you figure out something though,” Finn explained he was rambling slightly at this point not really sure what he could do but he knew it had to be something.
Jay shrugged again. "I've survived this long, I can survive 10 more months." he replied. His birthday was in ten months. Then he could figure something out, figure out a way to leave his father.
Finn nodded but still looked deep in thought. “Well like I said you’re free to stay here as long as you want until Wednesday,” He said trying to bring his smile back.
Jay nodded. "Okay. Thank you." he looked down at the phone in his hand. He sighed softly, and called his father.
Finn went and day on the couch giving Jay space. As he did Poppy and Willow came out of the bathroom. Poppy running to the coach with Willow pretending to chase her. They laughed poppy cuddled into Finn was looking at the tv but really watching Jay out of the corner of his eye.
"H-hey Dad, I…I just wanted to let you know that I uhm…" Jay swallowed, and flinched as his father's voice came through. "Sorry! I'm sorry I'm sorry, I-I just…I just wanted to tell you that I…" he chewed on his lip. "I'm going to be at a friend's house un-until about Wednesday…s-so I won't be home."
Finn internally flinched at Jays nervousness. He lightly shushed Poppy when she was about to talk. still keeping his head facing the tv but eyes on Jay.
Jay flinched a little. "Sorry! I-it's…we have classes together, and we have a group project. Th-that's all, I swear. I-I…no! No it's not…I'm not…" he took a deep breath.
Finn stood up and walked over to Jay. Resting his hand on Jay’s as he sat down on the stool next to him.
