"Yeah. Hopefully he's as cooperative as he is accessible." Mike stood up. "Thanks, Vincent. We gotta head back to the office, that's where the phone is."
"Yeah. Hopefully he's as cooperative as he is accessible." Mike stood up. "Thanks, Vincent. We gotta head back to the office, that's where the phone is."
"Great. I've gotta make a call too, I'm gonna see if Lighthouse can patch me through to Cassiel."
"Got it."
They went back to the office and Mike picked up the phone on his desk, dialing the number and waiting. After a minute, he started speaking. "Yeah, hi, this is Mike of the demon hunters. I'm calling to ask you a favor…..no, I'm healthy. It's to do with a guy named Lonan Blake." There was a long pause. "He said you could help us find a place. We're going to break a curse." Another pause. "Look, why don't we meet up somewhere and discuss the details. Here? When?……You sure? All right then. See you soon." He hung up. "He says he'll be here in about fifteen minutes. Not sure how, but whatever. Your turn."
"Sounds good." Pluto picked up the phone and dialed an almost ridiculously long number that took her almost five minutes to dial. There was a loud static noise from the phone, and Pluto winced, holding it away from her ear. It stopped, and she put it back. "Hey, Lighthouse. I need a patch-in to Cassiel. Yes, I know I still owe you, no, I still don't have the replacement parts. Samandriel's kinda on my ass." There was a pause. "Yeah, got it, thanks." She hung up. "Great, there's a dropoff location at a lake about a mile or two away where I've gotta grab a dimensional key in about two or so hours."
"All right. That gives enough time to talk to this guy and find out what–"
There was a knock at the door, and the hunter called Bernon stuck his head in. "Hey Mike, sorry to bother you, but there's a guy here named Hungary or something who says he has an appointment with you?"
"Oh. That was fast. Yeah, bring him in. Thanks."
"Yessir."
Mike started straightening up his desk. "Watch this guy while we're talking. We might be able to tell if he's trustworthy or not."
"Yeah, got it."
After a moment, the door opened again, and a tall, pale man strode in. His hair was raven-black, as were his eyes, and his expression was cold and hard–not what one expected from a therapist. He wore a strange, dark-grey uniform with an emblem in white on the shoulder that resembled a lotus flower. The shoulders of his jacket were dusted with ice.
He dipped his head at the group. "I am Kaiser Hungarius. You said you needed my help with something?"
(again, my replies will slow down but I'll still be here a little while longer)
(np) "Uh, yeah. Some guy named Blake told us you were the guy to see."
"You mean Lord Zhan." Kaiser took a seat. "He was the one that created my kind. I no longer serve him, however. I disagreed with his ways." He glanced at them sharply. "And now you would ask me to help bring him back from exile? Why, exactly?"
"Because we need him out of the box to get to Lucifer," Pluto explained
"You would release a god with the power to destroy galaxies for the sake of ambition? A god who has no love for the people of this world? Who only cares for that which amuses him?"
"You talk fancy." Mike put his feet on the table. "We'll pay you, if that's what it takes to shut you up."
Kaiser stared at him stonily. "You cannot tempt me with money. Try harder."
"Well I would like to get back to my dimension, for one, and for another, if we don't free Blake soon I'm sure all of Molhaven will be after us before long."
(gotta go have supper now, sorry. I probably won't be back on until tomorrow)
(np, I probably won't be on much today)
(hello)
(sup homies)
(hiya)
"It's possible. I'm no longer informed of Zhan's activity or alliances." He gazed out the window thoughtfully. "I have not heard of Molhaven before. Is it in your dimension?"
"Sort of. It's the dimension of the gods, at least in our section of the multiverse. I'm currently on the most wanted list."
"Ah. What did you do, if I may ask?"
Red watched the exchange with a mixture of interest and curiousity.
"I existed," Pluto muttered
Kaiser considered Pluto, his face slowly clearing. "In this at least, I sympathize. I and my people have faced prejudice for hundreds of years. Part of my work is to change that, but I've made little progress." He was silent for a moment, then sighed. "Oh, very well. I'll help you break the curse. In truth, it doesn't matter to me what Zhan is up to anymore. He does occasionally do good as well as evil."
"Awesome. Sounds good. The sooner we free him and take care of Lucifer the better."
Kaiser stood up. "We will have to travel to the Seams. It's a very difficult–and dangerous–area to access. Think of it as a series of maintenance tunnels built for the gods between universes. It's a dimension that was never meant for mortals, and I myself have only recently developed a way to get inside. We will have to be careful not to get separated, or antagonize the beings that live there."
"Well, that's part of the reason I called Cassiel." She looked down at her watch. "They're gonna drop a key in about 20 minutes that will take us straight to the Seams without having to jump through any really dangerous hoops."
