"No, but the quetzalcoatl has some bearing on them. Cassiel is the cause of many myths and makes a guest appearance in several religions." Pluto walked over to the creature. It was tall, at least 12 feet at its current stature, and had its back to Pluto. She cleared her throat. "Cassiel. Nice of you to make an appearance." The creature turned to look at them, its masked face staring eerily at them.

"Hello Pluto."

"Cassiel," Pluto said. "You've got the key?" The creature nodded.

"Before I give it to you, however, may I ask what you plan to do with it? The Seams are a very dangerous place, more so than the meltwood in some cases."

"Zhan? It's been a while since that name has popped up. Near disappeared from the records for a while." Pluto crossed her arms, vaguely uncomfortable with the various creatures stuck under the water staring at them.

"Yeah, records, wonderful. If you would give us the key so we could be on our way, that'd be great," she said. Cassiel made a noise that was somewhere between a huff and a click.

"Very well." The wooden section of his chest moved and morphed, small branches spindling out from it as the runes etched in the wooden surface glowed a neon blue-green. The wood moved until it turned into a drawer, which held a simple key of wood and gold. It floated out of the compartment towards Pluto, and she grabbed it out of the air.

"Thanks. I'll be back in Blackwash soon." Cassiel's chest returned to normal, and he slithered backwards until he was neck deep in a hole in the coral platform. The multi-eyed creatures surrounded him, and he stopped for a moment.

"There will be no doubt about it." With that he sank into the water, and the coral began to slowly disintegrate into the water

He chuckled. "Nope. No TV, no internet, and none of the craziness that went with them. Some places still have radio, though. Personally, my family was really poor even before the war, so I never owned any tech long enough to get attached to it. But some folks took it really hard, not having access to 'memes' and 'Netflix'."

"Serious as ever." Mike seemed quite amused by Pluto's disbelief. "I s'pose that would be the downside of staying here until your name is cleared. But, we find ways to stay entertained. The old stories have become the stuff of legend. Remind me, sometime I'll tell you the tale of Sherlock Holmes and the Sorcerer's Impala."

(Boy do I have a road trip planned for y'all)
Kaiser held the key in one hand and closed his eyes, standing perfectly still for a moment. Then, with precise, careful movements, he reached out and drew the key across the air in front of him. A dark line appeared as it went, shivering and widening until it stretched from the ground to just above their heads. The hole solidified into a large door made of smooth, glassy black metal, marked with a simple design: a gold circle with a dot at its center.
Kaiser lowered the key and gently pushed the door open, revealing a hazy whiteness that was hard to see through. "The Seams are divided into five levels," he said. "The one we want is, of course, the lowest level, and to get to it we will have to travel through the other four. The first level is Uarilon, realm of the goddess Ennienwin. We must not let her know we are here, for she is the one that banished Zhan. Understood?"

Mike agreed. "What would happen if she caught us?"
"You would not be killed," Kaiser replied. "But your ability to leave her realm would be stolen, and perhaps your desire to leave as well. Now come." He led them through the door and past the veil of light into the Seams.
Uarilon was a land of the sky. And it was very beautiful. As far as the eye could see, small islands floated in midair, each one with a different kind of terrain on it. There were islands with lakes, mountains, forests, or just rolling hills, all as stunning as photos from a travel guide. The island they had landed on was small, and covered with a forest of slender aspens that rustled in the breeze. There were no buildings or signs of civilization anywhere, and the only sound was the wind.
Mike stepped carefully over to the nearby edge of their island. "There's nothing underneath us," he said quietly. "Just more sky and some clouds."

"So…Fall and you're dead? I mean I have wings so I don't have…Oh. Never mind," Pluto said, hopping onto the island after Mike after remembering her injured wing

"If you fall, you will return to Earth," Kaiser said, stepping up next to them. "It would not be pleasant. I will teleport us across the islands to that one." He pointed at an island far in the distance, which seemed to have a single hill on it. "That is the gate to the next realm. I would hop directly to it, but that would cause too much of a disturbance and we would be noticed. Please stay close."
