(Hey)
(Yep.)
"Then my mom got sick, I prayed every day that she'd get better and stay with me. I prayed that my dad wouldn't leave us. But he gave up on us and she died. I stopped believing in that stuff because why would God let that happen to a kid?" Darren was crying again.
(backstory: Darren's mom had cancer and his dad was upset and left them until she died and 5 months later his dad came back for him.)
(Lloyd comes in: Um excuse me smacks lips this is Gawd ur talkin about and he's gud sooooo lemme explain the christian belief system)
(lol… I'm Christian btw so I'm not like stabbing at the religion or anything, the character had a hard life and doesn't know what to do)
Lillian wrapped her arms around Darren, "Hey, I'm sure there was a reason. Just like I'm sure there's a reason I have assholes for parents. Everything's okay now though right?"
(I know, I'm Christian too, so I actually know the beliefs lol)

(same)
Lillian wrapped her arms around Darren, "Hey, I'm sure there was a reason. Just like I'm sure there's a reason I have assholes for parents. Everything's okay now though right?"
"Yeah!" Darren cleared his throat. "I just needed time to figure things out I guess" Darren slid the necklace back in his pocket hoping that Lillian hadn't seen it.
(same.)
Lillian let him go, "And take as much time as you need."
Darren stopped Lillian and hugged her. He held her and whispered a brief "Thank you" in her ear.
Lillian felt her face slightly heat up. She hugged him back and whispered back, "It was my pleasure."
Darren didn't want to let go. Is this what it's like to have real friends? This is what I've been missing hanging with the jocks?
Darren did let go and he stood up "We should go back in so they don't worry about me."
Lillian nodded, missing Darren's heat, "Probably, they looked pretty worried."
Darren brushed his face to ensure there were no extra tears lingering before re-entering the building with Lillian at his side.
Lloyd ran up to Darren when he saw him. "Darren, I-I'm really sorry, I didn't mean to upset you…"
Darren stopped him. "You didn't, it wasn't– you're fine."
Lillian looked at Lloyd, "Yeah your fine angel boy."
"But I still feel like it's my fault… m-my sincerest apologies." Lloyd gave a small bow, his face slightly flushed.
"So I have some questions." Darren looked nervous. "Is that okay?"
"Um, yes, I suppose so. What do you need to know?"
