"You did?" Lillian said with slight surprise, acted surprise.
"Yeah, I thought it would be good to look ahead of time and, there are… so many,"
Lillian laughed, "That's an understatement. So what did you find?"
"I just made a list of some of the better ones and apartments are expensive but I was offered some scholarship opportunities."
"You were?" Lillian looked at him wide eyed. She hadn't heard about that, "That's amazing Darren!"
"I mean it's not for sure. A school in New York wanted to test me for football. They understand that I wasn't in school because of the cancer so they're willing to give me a chance. or something….?"
"Well that's still amazing!" Lillian said happily.
"Yeah, I guess so,"
"Don't guess so, I would kill if a school did that for me."
"That's true. I'm pretty excited. I'm just afraid that I won't get accepted, I mean, when's the last time I was in football?" He looked off into the distance to see someone sitting on their towel wearing a hoodie and sweatpants despite the heat.
Lillian smiled at him before following his line of sight, "It's been awhile, but you'll do great Darren. I'll just have to get in the old theater hard way."
Darren smiled as he squinted at the man and sighed.
Lillian looked at the man and sighed, "Is it who I think it is?"
