She made it outside the cave and closed her eyes sniffling the air she could tell it smelled like pine and smoke

James' breath stilled as he watched her. He was trying not to be noticed at the moment.

She smiled softly walking over to a very large tree and leaning against it

James continued to hold his breath as he watched her come closer to where he was hidden.

"James?' she asked looking around at her surroundings

James stayed silent as he heard her call out for him. If she did it again then maybe he would come out.

"James I know your here" she said as she gripped onto the tree tighly as she looked at it

James raised his hands as he stepped out from where he was. He said calmly, "Okay, you got me."

She looked over at him with soft eyes, before walking over to him " How long have you been out here?" She asked

"About as long as you," James told her honestly letting his arms fall. He felt a slight smile tug on his lips though he refused to let it take hold.

She nodded taking a step closer " so you followed me out of the castle mind telling me why?" She asked

"To ensure you were safe," James responded quite simply. As if the fact should have been obvious to her.

" hm" she hummed " but why would my safety matter to you" she asked

"Why wouldn't it?" James countered.

"because seems pretty upset with me" she said Crossing her arms

"Whatever do you mean by that?" James asked her tilting his head ever so slightly.

"I ran out of the castle and I had the intentions of never coming back " Rebecca said

"I understood that, and I was fine with that," James responded sounding earnest. Half of that statement was true.

" then what were you planning to do I mean you were obviously following me" she said

"As I said, I was following you to make sure you were safe," James responded once more, "I knew you would head back to your… Brother, and I wanted to make sure you were safe there. Instead, you left the house and tried to sleep in the middle of the forest. I, I couldn't just leave you there."

" Aw that's cute you care about me" she chuckled with a smile

"I, um, suppose I do," James admitted blinking a moment surprised at her conclusion and then his own.

" So did you carry me to that cave?'" she asked bashfully" because I remember falling asleep on the ground" she said

"Yes, yes I did. Do you have a problem with that?" James asked her tilting his head again.

"What No! Of course not?" She exclaimed " most people would have left me there so thank you" she said
