Beatrice smiled and brought her thumbnail.
"Uh…" she trailed "the deer one?"
Beatrice smiled and brought her thumbnail.
"Uh…" she trailed "the deer one?"
Finn shook his head with a soft smile. "Nope. It was ten Legos. I accidentally killed deer and squirrels and such relatively often when I had just been turned."
Beatrice shrugged and smiled.
"Here's mine: I hate broccoli, I've had a crush on the same person since I was eleven and my ex boyfriend tried to stab my eye out with a pencil." She said and waited.
"Uh… I hope it's the last one but I'm guessing it's the first?" Finn replied, shrugging as well. He yawned and leaned back against the wall, scratching at the back of his neck with one hand.
Beatrice smiled and nodded.
"Yeah," she said quietly "my exes aren't the greatest, so sadly the last one did happen."
"Yeah, stabbing people isn't great. I don't have any exes to try to kill me, though…" Finn hummed thoughtfully. "I've never dated anybody."
Beatrice gave him a slight look of shock.
"Really?" She prompted in disbelief. "But you're so…funny and kind and…other things too."
Finn smiled weakly and shrugged. "Glad you think so, but… none of that matters. I'm a werewolf. No one's willing to be around me long enough to get to know me anyway."
Beatrice patted him on the shoulder.
"I'm sure someone will come along," she reassured him. "And I bet they'll make you see life in a new light, whoever they are."
She pulled her hand away and smiled at him sadly.
"One day you be able to see that all this doubting yourself was pointless."
Finn shrugged again, keeping up his half-hearted smile. "If you say so, Beatrice… people like me often aren't so lucky. But anyway… we should probably go to bed, yeah?"
Beatrice shrugged.
"I mean—" she checked the time on her phone. "It's only like ten thirty, so we don't have to, but we can if you're tired."
"I don't really care, honestly… if you want to ask any more questions or whatever that's fine. I don't mind talking." Finn yawned, scratching at his neck again.
(also sorry for my previous response being so late, I was on a field trip with some people in my graduating class for this grade related program.)
Beatrice nodded.
"How about we get comfortable and then keep asking stuff if we feel like it?" She suggested, climbing under the comforter and snuggling down, sitting her phone between her and Finn, right next to her upper thigh.
(Np!)
"Um… alright." Finn huddled up under the sheets as well, still planning to shift into a wolf before he went to sleep. He yawned again and stared at the ceiling, evidently interested in the pattern. "So… uh… any ideas?"
Beatrice shook her head.
"Not really," she said honestly. "Wanna hear a secret? I still sleep with the stuffed rabbit my dad won from the fair when I was four, and his name is Babbity Rabbity, like from Harry Potter."
Finn smiled softly. "That's nice… I don't really have any stuffed animals anymore. My parents didn't get us very many and we accidentally destroyed the ones that they did. Wolves and all."
Beatrice shrugged.
"That's fair." She said and smiled, turning on her side to face him and propping her head on her chin. "I mean Babbity Rabbity is the only one I haven't destroyed. I think it's a sentimental thing."
Finn nodded. "Yeah… Teagan and I played outside a lot as kids. I think our parents purposefully didn't get us toys so we'd be forced to not spend any time in the house with them." He laughed weakly. "It'd be kinda silly for me to buy stuff like that now, I guess. I'm too old."
Beatrice frowned.
"I mean, I still spend my money on stuffed animals sometimes, but I guess that's because I just like them." She said honestly. "I dunno, I'm just kind of childish."
Finn shrugged, yawning a bit. "I dunno… I don't really have a lot of money anyway, and I get picked on enough without buying toys." Even though he would like to have something nice of his own like that, he couldn't justify the purchase, and of course he was worried about Teagan teasing him.
Beatrice smiled lightly.
"I get it." She said. "Like at school, my personality is totally different because I'm always terrified of what people think."
Finn nodded again, staring back at the ceiling. "Yeah… people hate me enough as it is. I just gotta deal with it because it isn't practical to keep switching schools when people find out."
Beatrice nodded.
"But at some point," she told him "you're going to have to stop running away from everything."
"Mm…" Finn sighed, frowning a bit. "I just… don't really have any good options. I can't change what I am. I wish I could. But that's not how it works…"
Beatrice nodded.
"I would love to say I fully understand," she admitted. "But I only understand an aspect of it. But I get why you would say that."
