The rest of the group followed suit, and the old man, beaming, led them inside.
The rest of the group followed suit, and the old man, beaming, led them inside.
Jax gave the old man a look as he passed, why was he so happy?
"My name is Moraphe," he told them, stopping in the entry hall. "And I will help you all learn how to develop your powers."
Vivian cleared her throat, "Sir, what are we doing?"
Vien was suspicious, to say the least. He rested a hand over his satchel, grateful that his simple kitchen knife was within easy reach. He never went anywhere without it anymore, not after the accident
Moraphe noticed his tense stance. "Come now, you can all trust me. And as for your question – we will first get you settled into your rooms. Does that sound alright?"
No. She nodded, though kept her eyes peeled, just in case.
The young girl who spoke earlier pushed her light blonde hair out of her eyes, eyes that were wide with nervousness.
The old man smiled at her, and held out his hand. "Hello there; what's your name?"
Vien shot the man a look, but said nothing. Trusting people got you killed, and he had to survive till his 18th birthday. He didn't move his hand from his satchel either, continuing to walk behind the main group as he glanced around the room
"Abiliene," she whispered.
"6034, 6034…" Vivian muttered under her breath, twirling her hair.
Jax's stared at the people around him with annoyance and confusion.
"A name as beautiful as you are," he declared. He took her free hand gently, and said, "Why don't I take you and your sister to your room? I can assure you, I have the nicest quarters laid aside just for you." Moraphe turned his gaze to the others. "The rest of you can follow if you wish. All of the bedrooms are upstairs, if you choose to stay down here."
Vien scowled at the man. He's too nice. Nice people are the ones hiding the most intent to kill, came a thought, and he agreed with it. He decided to follow anyways, wanting to make sure he knew where everything was in case he needed to escape
He led Abiliene and her sister away.
She stopped her muttering, glaring at the mans back. "What about us?" she growled.
"I'll leave you two to get settled. If I let them run around down there alone for too long, well –" He winked. "I have snacks in the kitchen, when you're hungry. Just follow the voices." He made his way back downstairs.
Vien stopped, deciding that following the man wasn't the best decision after all. "Yeah, what about u-us?" he sneered quietly, index finger twitching as he stammered
When Moraphe came back, he found Vien and Vivian glaring at him. "Oh my, I'm sorry – would you like me to show you to your rooms, as well?"
"Can you show me the exit?"
"Just tell me where it is, I'll f-find it myself," Vien muttered, icy blue eyes fixed suspiciously on the man. He planned on visiting his room before wandering around the establishment, and he didn't want some stranger following him around
The old man looked at them with concern.
