Brella took a deep breath and sighed, "Ok. Lead the way, Mitch."
Inwardly, she was still on edge. The sooner she got back to her ship, the sooner she could leave the lunacy of the whole situation behind her. Se may not have adopted the Lovuthans' spiratulist values, but she was picky as to her surroundings.
He rounded the corner, walking up the street toward the cookie shop. He waved at a few friends that he saw. A few minutes later, they were there. His friend Jackson was behind the counter of the shop.
Brella's fingers danced around her holstered sidearm, whose grip was hidden under her jacket. She leaned back against a wall and kept watch as Mitchell and his friend exchanged a word. So far, all was quiet…
Aizen saw Brella rest her hand on her sidearm, he too had another volley of spikes ready.
(you're back!)
Mitchell quickly explained the situation to Jackson, who looked over at Aizen and Brella. He waved them over with a smile.
Aizen put a hold on his spikes. He walked over.
Hesitantly, Brella approached the two and stuck out her hand, palm up at first, then correcting for human tradition, "Heya. A pleasure."
Brella mentally marked nearby exits, and kept an eye on the emergency power button on the back wall.
"If needs be I can fly us to your ship." Zix said.
Brella glanced back at Zix, "A wonderful idea, in theory. But unless you got some mechanic alteration in those wings, you probably can't lift us, not very fast. And not at the same time." Once again, Brella noted her sharp tone and jaded wording, and winced. She wasn't exactly a professional when it came to talking to people peacefully.
She flashed Zix an apologetic smile, "But at least you can fly. All I have are glowing energy reserves in the shape of butterfly wings."
"Where do you guys need to go?" Jackson asked with a warm smile. "I know Castro pretty well, and I owe Mitchell a favor, so I'll take you wherever you need."
"Actually, we need to reach the shipyards above," Brella answered, "Mine is docked up there, but we aren't exactly friendly with security."
"Well, I can get you past that," Jackson said. He led them behind the counter and down the stairs.
Aizen followed warily in the shadows, silently trailing them, and the way he went about it, made him seem inhuman.
A shiver shook Brella as she felt a trembling wave of energy wash over her. It was erratic, uncertain, not the calm peace she felt when nothing was happening. She looked behind her. Aizen was in the shadows. Had it come from him? If so, she hadn't noticed until now.
She fell back beside Aizen, whispering, "What are you doing skulking back here like some kinda vampire? You look human, act like it!"
"I'm being careful." He said. "You should too, this could be a trap."
Jackson led them through a hall that gradually got darker as they walked. He stayed silent.
"Sulking in the shadows will do you know good. There's cameras every where, all equipped with heat sensors."
"I'm aware." Said Aizen. "I've matched my body heat with the surrounding area."
"Smart. I thought you and Brella might, I wasn't sure about Mitchell though."
Brella turned, "Are you sure you two aren't overdoing it? Look at the cameras, " she said, projecting a ball of energy next to one. There was a black box on the underside. "They've been scrambled, haven't they?" She asked Jackson.
"Yes, of course I did, Aizen." Turning to brella she said "If I get captured, planet earth will be destroyed. We don't like to lose our kin. So no, I do not."
Jackson laughed. "They aren't even functional anymore. These cameras are ancient. I think they're models from the 2010s," he explained. They reached a flight of stairs, and he began to climb up, Mitchell following.
Brella smiled and turned to the others, "See? Nothing to worry about. We may be crazy, but at least we're off the radar. We'll get back to the Elizia no problem." She smiled as she thought of her ship, the. turned to Mitchell, "You'll love it there. I have some upgrades that I can throw on that arm. Power packs, data storage, even a built-in cloack generator. The only thing you'llbe missing is a coffee maker!" Brella was speaking quickly, her words beginning to blur.
