Daviana wrung her hands. Come on. Just go up and order! Why are you cursed to be so shy…?
Daviana wrung her hands. Come on. Just go up and order! Why are you cursed to be so shy…?
Oliver yawned fiercely, which almost made him tumble over. He caught himself, shook his head and leaned against the counter.
Daviana took a deep breath and walked up to the counter. "Uh… um… hi…"
Oliver scrutinized her. "Let me guess, large cup of cookies and cream?" He chuckled. "Hello, what would you like?"
"Uh…" Daviana blushed, as she did in pretty much all situations where she had to be social outside of field hockey, "a small um… a small chocolate soft serve? Please?"
(hi-ho, it me)
Oliver leaned up off of the counter. "Alright. I'll call it out once it's done."
(Hi!)
"Okay." Daviana sat back down in her booth. She resisted the urge to check her phone again.
Jordan watched intently as the other people took the orders. She kept her head down and licked her ice cream while she read her book. Though she had many strengths, making the first move towards making friends was not one of them. Jordan desperately wanted friends.
Daviana eventually gave in. She peeked at her screen and saw several unread messages. She quickly turned off her phone and let it slam back against the tabletop.
Oliver yawned again and turned to the ice cream maker. “Hmmmm… chocolate…”
OKEY!

Riverpaw exhaled, leaning forward on the counter to watch Tsunami from around the corner.
Jordan had finished her cone and walked up to the counter. She sat down at one of the stools. "How's it going, Oliver?" She said shakily.
Daviana turned to look out the window and cried softly. It hurt. It stung her chest, her skin… everything hurt from those stupid words…
(oooh drama)
Another message chimed in. She looked. She shouldn't have looked.
(WHAT DOES IT SAY OOOH)
(YOU DON'T GET TO KNOW YET. HAHA!)
Daviana's lung burned. She wanted to scream. Instead, tears stinging the corners of her eyes, she went back up to the counter and spoke in a soft, quiet voice. "Is it ready yet?"
Jordan couldn't help herself. "Are you alright?" She asked timidly. "What do you want?" Jordan pointed to the menu. "Anything you want on me."
Daviana shook her head. "No, that's alright."
"At least let me give you my number. I'd love to talk to you. I need some good friends." She managed a smile.
"Yeah sure. Let me get my-" phone. "Actually… can you just write it on a piece of paper?"
Jordan smiled. "Absolutely!" She scrambled in her pocket for a pen and a scrap of paper then wrote it down and handed it to this new girl. "Can't wait to talk to you again."
