"Did they do anything to you back in that cell?" Asked Silver gently.
"I-I don't… think so…" Aurelius said, "Not besides nearly starving me."
Silver sighed. "Hmm… is it possible they did and yoh can't remember?" He asked.
"Absolutely," Aurelius replied, "Those sorts of things happen. You never know what the human memory is going to mess up."
"Are there any blanks in your memory that seem suspicious?" Asked Silver.
"There are plenty. It's not like I did much when I was there, I just laid in that cell, often in an odd, dreamlike state. I'm sometimes not even sure half of that experience was real."
Aurelius sighed and ran a hand through his hair.
Silver sighed. "Great… it'll be that much harder to figure out if they did do something.. "
"I could always remember later. You never know. Just like we lose memories, we can recover them," Aurelius said.
"I have a feeling that they did something. And part of it was to block the memories." Said Silver. "Either that or you're suppressing them subconsciously."
"Are you suggesting they used magic, or channeled it somehow?" Aurelius asked, "Sounds a little far-fetched, but… I don't know. I've never suppressed memories like this before, for all of the bad things that have happened."
"There are plenty of non magical ways to make people forget things." Said Silver, "It's possible that they used an herbal mix."
"Maybe… but something just doesn't feel right. At all. And what could they have possibly done to me?"
Aurelius frowned.
"That's what I intend to find out ." Said Silver.
"How do you plan to do that?" Aurelius asked, his voice growing much quieter.
"Dream walking." Said Silver. "If you're up for it though."
"Depends… What would that entail?"
Aurelius was intrigued, but also slightly fearful.
"Me getting in contact with your subconscious by basically invading your dreams." said Silver.
“If you really think it’ll help, sure. But there could be some nasty stuff in there,” Aurelius said, “I’m sure you’ve seen plenty worse, but…”
Silver sighed, "It's the best method I can think of."
Aurelius didn't quite know how to voice that the idea made him uncomfortable, but at the same time, he knew it was probably the only way to retrieve the memory.
"Okay, then."
Silver nodded, "Whatever happens I promise I just want the best for you."
"I know. And I trust you. I don't think I would let anyone else do this," Aurelius replied.
Silver nodded. "We'll have to wait for tonight then." He said.
"Alright, that's fine," Aurelius said, "What do we need to do in the meantime?"
