Aurelius had been watching Silver’s gaze very closely for any signs of fear, and at some point, he saw something change. Silver was probably getting tired.
“H-hey… you’re pushing yourself too hard,” he warned, “You’ve used a lot of magic.”
He was still trembling when he decided to crawl forward towards Silver.
“This won’t hurt you, right?”
He started reaching with one hand, and when the magic did nothing to Silver, Aurelius leaned his whole body in closer for a hug and had his head leaning up against Silver’s chest. His throat felt tight as he held back tears.
“No one’s… ever been able to hold me and tell me everything is okay when this has happened before…”
The golden aura pulsed a little, but protected Silver, "Not surprising… I don't think I've ever seen an aura like yours…." He pulled the other closer, "And don't worry about me pushing it, I know full well what my limits are." Including the fact that I'm already past the line….
The black shadows started to fade out as Aurelius’ fear ebbed away. He still felt as if he was about to cry, but more because he was ashamed.
“I’m sorry… I’m so, so sorry…”
"Don't be…." said Silver, "Not like you can help losing control…. or fearing… something that's a part of you…" he said it as gently as possible, ignoring how his own vision was blurry. He really reminds me of when… The twins…..
“You sound rough,” Aurelius said softly, “Let’s rest a bit.”
The aura had by now faded completely. For some reason, he could almost always push fear aside when he saw someone else in need or in pain, and something was definitely up with Silver.
(I’ll be gone most of today. I’m hanging out with some high school friends, and it’s been months since we’ve seen each other)
"I told you I'm fine…" said Silver, sensing that the dark aura was gone, and letting go of the unfamiliar golden aura. "I just don't normally call on the Wolf's bond, or use my ice aura…"
(ok have fun!)
“Yeah… um… so now you’ve seen it,” Aurelius said softly, “Usually I can control it better, but uh… I’m not in such a great place right now. I’m a little volatile, I suppose.”
He was still shaking a little bit, but since the black magic was gone, he figured it probably wouldn’t surface again, at least not for now.
"It's ok.." Silver's voice was quiet. No! Not the time to pass out! "You alright now?" the ice faded completely as he mentally forced the black edges to his vision to receed, knowing it wouldn't last.
“I-I think so…” Aurelius replied, “Hey, uh, are you sure you’re good?”
He leaned a little closer. His icy eyes were incredibly intense and focused on Silver.
"Yeah.." Silver suddenly swore under his breath, his vision going black, "Then agian make that a no" he slumped in Aurelius' arms, fighting to stay conscious.
“Hey, hey, hey, hey…” Aurelius said frantically, “Rest here. You can lean on me. I’ve got you.”
He placed a hand on the back of Silver’s head to comfort him.
“You’ve withdrawn all magic exertion?”
"Aura drain? Yes…" said Silver, forcing himself to stay conscious, "I don't usually use ice magic for just this reason…. do me a favour and don't tell Alex…."
“Of course, as long as nothing is too bad,” Aurelius promised, “What can I do in the meantime? Something tells me you should wait a bit before standing up and walking.”
This is my fault…
"I may or may not be fighting unconsciousness right now…" said Silver, laughing, "And don't you dare go thinking this is your fault, I do this alot when circumstances arise…."
"Yeah, I can tell," Aurelius said, "And I'm glad you helped me with this, but… gods…"
He's right. It's not my fault. It's not my fault… except it totally is.
"Just stay here until you're feeling a bit better. If you do pass out, I'll find a way to get you back to camp, okay? Don't worry about that."
"That's what happens when you're a Luna hybrid." laughed Silver, desperately fighting to stay awake…. and failing as his vision went spottier.
"Oh…" Aurelius murmured.
He thought he felt Silver's muscles start to give a little bit. He seemed to have a lot of trouble supporting himself.
"Alright, I'll try to keep you alert. Let's talk about something, okay? Tell me about… what kinds of hobbies do you have?"
He kept the topic simple and lighthearted, hoping Silver could keep responding. Really, if he lost consciousness, Aurelius was afraid he wouldn't be able to get Silver back to camp.
"Always been a healer… with therapy on the side…" answered Silver relaxing as forced himself to stay awake.
"What kind of therapy?" Aurelius asked, his voice calm and steady, but genuine and interested.
He kept his hand firmly on the back of Silver's head and played with his hair a little distractedly. Wow, his hair is soft…
Aurelius was a little caught off-guard by his own so suddenly calm aura, but he was more grateful for it after his whole episode, or whatever one might call it.
(Wolf genetics….. = soft hair…. :)
"Helping people over bad times" said Silver simply, strangly liking the fact that Aurelius' fingers were in his hair as he focused on staying awake.
(Yessss I figured as much. Wolves are cute floofs, and no one can change my mind.)
Aurelius exhaled.
"So people like me."
It just slipped. He hadn't meant to say anything like that- not so casually- not right now! He bit his lip and grumbled to himself, continuing to touch Silver's hair to soothe both the half-wolf and himself.
(XD You should try wolf pups! Gosh are they fun to write!)
Silver frowned a little, "Honestly I've dealt with worse," he said slowly, "Arthur and Alex for example…. they were bad off…."
Aurelius laughed halfheartedly. "I suppose I'm not entirely alone… Even if it does feel that way sometimes."
You have no idea…
"Honestly, I admire people who will sit and listen to everyone's problems. I can't imagine what kind of toll it takes some days."
"You have no idea" Said Silver, "But it's better than watching as they drown in their pain and fears…"
"I guess so," Aurelius replied.
He paid close attention to Silver: his movement, his speech, anything that clued to his current physical state. Maybe this light conversation actually was helping him stay conscious.
