He laughed joyfully, "That's so cool," he reveled again, but something unspoken was in his tone.
Fae picked up on it immediately. “What is it?”
"Huh?"
She tilted her head. “Nothing. I thought I heard something.”
He smiled a little more. "Love ya."
She reached over the table to squeeze his hand. “Love you too.”

Cruz laid in the grass of his back yard. He held his eyes shut, lost in the breeze and stark, bitingly sweet smell of cut lawns and tree-buds and rain. It was an aura of peace to him, and sunset always wore a sort of aura like this, when the world is bathed in blood orange and black.
(How should I make Fae come in to this?)
( she could have tried to call him & didnt answer cos he's zen, spand she mightve gotten worried?
(Ooh yeah okay)
Fae threw down her phone after trying to call Cruz a sixth time, worry growing. What if something had happened to him? With any other person she wouldn’t have been worried, but due to Cruz’s past…… she was afraid for him. Shrugging in a spring jacket, she walked the distance to his place.
(Is his tio home?)
Yes, but in bed )
Cruz's limbs were splayed out on the blanket of clean grass, wrapped in a cozy sleepiness.
After no one answered the doorbell, Fae’s worry had escalated to the point that her hands were shaking and she felt a full in panic attack coming on. Leaning against the door and trying to fight the rising tide if her anxiety, she thought up scenarios where Cruz was safe and just not home. Gritting her teeth, she went around the back of the house and into the backyard.
Her companion was lying in the grass, the most peaceful look on his honey-tan face.
Fae almost melted with relief. “Cruz!”, she called, running over.
He flinched with surprise, eyes flicking up, "Fae?"
“Hey. I called, but you weren’t answering and I got a bit worried. Sorry.”
He brought his hand to brush grass from the back of his head, "No, it's cool. I shouldn't have fallen asleep," he yawned, "Chiggers, and.. stuff like that," he stood up, brushing grass and dirt off himself.
“I overreacted. What are chiggers?”
"Grass bugs that make you itch," he replied back absently.
