"Hello Blake." Ace waved, "Are you okay man?"
"Hello Blake." Ace waved, "Are you okay man?"
"I'm allllllll good, Acey." Blake drawled and then proceeded to giggle at the nickname he'd given Ace. "I got all patched up."
"That's nice." Ace scratched at his stubble, "Acey?"
"Mhm!" Blake grinned triumphantly and stumbled forward a few steps. "I feel like I'm wasted, man. But I didn't have anything to drink! Tryn' not to worry Frankie too much." He explained, somehow finding his way to the seat at Ace's bedside. He began clawing at the gauze wrapped around his injured wings.
Ace held onto Zodiac's tiny sleeping body, "Yeah, you really shouldn't drink." he looked at Blake, "I'm feeling better, does this mean I can get out of the hospital now?"
"Dunno, man." Blake shrugged and sent Ace a lopesided, lazy smile. He succeeded in ripping off some of the gauze, but only revealed a large spot of his wing where feathers were missing a only a patch of stitches could be seen on his bloodstained skin. Blake frowned at it slightly, his lip pulling out into a pout.
"Y-you should really rest." Ace set Zodiac next to him, "You shouldn't be out of bed, Blake." he touched Blake's wing. "Go rest." Ace picked up Zodiac again and placed her on Blake's lap.
Blake froze as the tiny Zodiac was set into his lap. He shrunk back a little, his body going stiff. "Not gonna hurt me?" He questioned, staring down at Zodiac fearfully.
"She's the size of a kitten." Ace pet Zodiac's wittle head, "She's cute! Pet her."
Blake obeyed, tentatively laying his hand on Zodiac's scales. Once he decided she was safe he began to lighly pet her.
Zodiac trilled and let out a little puff of air, turning over and exposing her belly. Ace cringed, "Dude, do not pet the belly. Belly equals danger zone."
He withdrew his hand quickly, afraid of getting burned again. He settling for examining the weird sling his arm was placed in and the large bandage wrapping around his shoulder.
"You should really rest." Ace dropped his voice to a whisper, "I'm afraid you won't exactly be able to lie down in the grass and make out with Frankie if you're not feeling well." he touched his chin, "Do you have a…whatchamacallit? Shave thingy?"
Blake was blushing profusely. "Frankie?" He repeated the name dumbly, wobbling on his feet as he stood back up. He let Zodiac crawl onto the chair as he started towards the door without another word, his eyes misted over slightly.
Ace sighed, "Okay then! I'll just stay here, basically alone, while you go find someone you've only known for a few hours." Zodiac wobbled back to Ace's bedside and curled up on his bare chest, puffing and snoring. Ace smiled, but when he lied back down, he started coughing blood again. "It was probably nothing. I always cough." Ace said to no one in particular, "I'm fine. No more surgery."
As soon as he got to the door, Blake heard several outside voices pipe up. The next thing he knew there were two nurses by his side, each one carefully holding one of his arms to prevent escape. "Ace!?" He called for help, alarmed and scared at he started to get lead away. He struggled, fear in his eyes as he squirmed away and bolted clumsily to Ace's beside again, the IV finally ripping out of his arm. Blood trickled down it, along with blood that oozed out of the wing wound he'd ripped the gauze off of.
"B-Blake, you shouldn't be-" Ace coughed, "-out of bed." Zodiac moved to the side and Ace curled up, coughing.
Blake felt the overwhelming urge to protect his brother, but spreading out his wings hurt. The nurses took him back the arms again and started walking a weakly struggling Blake out of the room again. "You shouldn't even be able to walk after a blood transfusion like that! Let alone putting yourself under stress. Your on high risk for a heart attack already." She shook her head and sighed, guiding Blake out of Ace's sight.
"My brother! I gotta take care of him!" He protested, trying to go back.
"Frankie needs you Blake. We'll take good care of Ace, I promise." The nurse gave him a kind smile that Blake was too drugged not to buy into. He went peacefully the rest of the way back, crawling under the covers and letting the nurses rehook wires and patch up his wings and arm. Now all that was left to do was wait for Frankie.

Ace left consciousness after a long struggle to keep his eyes open. But the pain hurt too much, so the nurse hit him with the needle and he closed his eyes, I don't want to die.
