"Please stop struggling, sir. You're only causing more damage." The nurse lectured as Blake flapped his wings furiously, spattering more blood on himself. Another nurse had just returned with a doctor by his side and had begun to clean the blood off of Blake's face with a wet towel.
Frankie ran in the door to Blake's side. "Don't move Blake. It'll be alright. I'll be here the whole time." She shot a look to the nurses in case they told her she couldn't stay.
"Everything hurts." Blake whined, tears streaming down his face. He kept his attention focused on Frankie, which allowed the doctors to began to work.
"We may have to put him down for awhile. Not sure yet. H might need a blood transfusion." One told Frankie, his expression grim.
Frankie nodded sadly. "Whatever you need to do." She kissed Blake's bloodstained forehead and stood up, caressing his hair gently as they put him down.
Blake could feel the drugs in his system wearing him out, but had a futile struggle to keep his eyes open anyways. Before finally passing out, he weakly grabbed onto Frankie's hand, trying to pull her closer. I wouldn't mind if you were the last face I ever saw. He thought peacefully, trying to convey the message without speaking. His eyelids fluttered shut and his muscles relaxed, slipping into sleep again.
