Dani was worried. About Ana, about, Ace, about Peter, about everyone. As she watched the others slowly and uncertainly pile into the elevator, the memory she had fought so hard to repress came rushing to the surface. It was years ago. Her 10th birthday, actually. Birthdays are supposed to be good and happy days. Not for Dani. Not anymore. Her older brother Daniel had taken her out to eat. After that they decided to wander around town. Maybe help the police out a little. Which they did. Her bother's best friend, Jeremy, was an officer at their local police station. He asked them to look into the murder of a 'superhuman' as Jeremy liked to call people with powers. So they looked into it. But it was a trap. The R.A.C.'s lured them to a place that was so aptly named 'The Abyss.' It was a 200 foot drop in a cave in the woods. And her brother never saw it coming. An R.A.C. officer grabbed him and pulled him to the edge of the Abyss. Daniel had looked into Dani's eyes and shouted, "Danica, do not let this break you! You have always tried to protect others. Keep doing that! I'm so sorry that I will not see it. And then that scream. One of the many screams that haunted her, day in and day out. He fell. The officer held a dagger in his hand. Dani forced herself back into the present,trying her hardest not to cry.

(Yes. Dani has had a rather hard life. After her brother died, she locked herself in her room for two weeks. By the way, the thing that Dani said in Greek was "You have got to be kidding me. Again??!!!" And sorry for the times where I have written the name Bia instead of Dani. Bia is one of my characters in another roleplay that I'm in and Bia is kind of similar to Dani, so, yeah.)

Her gaze went over to Dani’s. Those soft hazel eyes of her that seemed to become amber gems when the light hit it right, filled with concern. Ana could tell she was hurting. Remebering painful events. Ana knew that look all too well. Flashbacks were the worst. Ana sometimes felt she lived more in her head than she did in the real world, part of her wondered which was the worst one. Ana offered a very weak ghost of a smile on her face. “Remembering stuff..?” Her soft voice echoed, breaking the silence around them. Ana couldn’t read minds, all she could do was grasp for the familiar and hoped she was right. Was she being intrusive? Probably, maybe she shouldn’t have said anything at all. She was being too nosey. Too curious, girls like her shouldn’t be seen or heard, they shouldn’t exist at all…

Now how does she even respond to that? Great Ana you’ve really dug yourself into a hole here. Ana bit down the inside of her cheek harshly. So stupid. Why are you so stupid?! All Ana could do was nod back. Idiot…such an idiot

@Natasha

Dani put a hand gently on Ana's arm. "For what it's worth, I think you'll fit in here really well. I know you don't really have any family to go back to. If you want, we can set you up here. Keep you safe. And you could take the medical course we have here." She nudged Ana gently with her shoulder. "And hey, thanks. I takes a special person to recognize other people's pain." She told Ana all this tellepathically.

Ana flinched when Dani reached out to grab her. Her heartrate speeding up slightly. All she did was mutter an apology for her overreaction. She was trying to be nice to you. You don’t deserve it. So ungrateful aren’t you? “Maybe…” she mumbled. Does it take a special person to recognize other’s pain? Anyone could do it.

As Macha flew, the wind blowing her long hair out violently behind her, she shivered, but not because of the cold. Icy sheets of dread and worry clawed at her from the inside, worry for Sky and Peter —were they stable enough to fight? Should they still be in the hospital?—, worry for Ace, with his terrible wound, worry for Ana, who's expression was a scary mix of sheer terror, relief, and self hate, who had scars decorating her body, who reminded her of someone she used to know. Finally, worry for Dani, who she was uncertain to trust, but sorry for nonetheless, sorry for the sad past that was reflected in her eyes, sorry that she couldn't have a normal, safe life. Macha's wings quivered in an oncoming blast of wind, and as she looked back to poor Ana, her fear for the innocent girl increased as she slowly began to recognize the devastating look of self-loathing in her gorgeous, sad eyes. The same look that Lenn used to have.

Memories swirled into Macha's vision as she flew, gripping Amber tightly, and this time, she didn't try to stop them.

She is walking past the yard of her school, lonely, and in the depths of the gaping maw of depression. Night has fallen. Something unidentifiable, a strong feeling in the pit of her stomach, makes her turn and walk onto the school property, past the ridiculous sign announcing the high schools name, "SunnyAcres Public School". She is about to turn back, when a shadow, barely more than a forlorn silhouette next to one of the big soccer nets, catches her eye. Macha walks up to the figure, and as she approaches, features begin to form until she is looking at Leonnard, a fellow loner from the stupid school.

Macha remembered that day, almost fondly. She remembered looking deep into the boy's dove gray eyes and coaxing him slowly away from the edge, slowly away from his make-shift noose, slowly away from suicide. She also remembered falling in love with him, recalled their first kiss, at sunset in the park. The memory of his beautiful soft eyes, filled to the brim with sorrow and tears, of his ash blond hair, of his gray clothing, his vanilla scent, called forth the fathomless heartbreak Macha had locked away in her swelling heart, putting her beyond tears.

As she looked back at Ace's stunning violet eyes, Macha's cherished memories of Lenn also called forth a terrible, guilt-drenched feeling of wrong. Watching him suffer made Macha's heart wrench, and she cursed herself for loving Ace, cursed herself for loving anyone other than the sweet lover that the R.A.C. had taken from her.

The group landed, and Macha drew close to Rhea for comfort, for the feeling of someone familiar, someone who knew, and followed Dani inside, into an elevator, and felt nothing but wrong for the whole way down.
