"The ball? What? Wait." Blake took a step back, shaking his head slightly. "I already said I'm not going to that. Besides I already told you I can't, remember? Soldier's-" He stopped himself, voice catching in his throat. "I-I…" God, Blake! Think of something! He thought angrily to himself, trying to come up with a viable excuse.
Ace leaned back in his seat, "I will literally drag you by your braids if you don't come."
"I don't have anything to wear, I don't know how to dance, and I'm not good around people. 'Specially unpredictable magical people who want me dead." Blake protested. He took a bite of ice cream, frowning at Ace.
Ace dug his spoon into the ice cream, "I don't have anything either, I just thought that Macha would do her thing and them bam! Somehow, I'm wearing a suit."
"Well I'm gonna have to pass on this one." Blake grumbled, wiping ice cream off his red cheeks.
Ace snorted, "Oh no, I'm not letting you get this one by, you're going, period."
"You can't make me." Blake stared Ace, making eye contact, his own eyes gleaming with the prospect of this challenge.
"Yes, I will." Ace glared at Blake, standing up so he would tower over him.
"No, you won't." Blake retaliated, by stretching out his massive wingspan. His puffed up his feathers and crossed his arms, never breaking eye contact.
Ace smiled and tapped Blake's forehead, "You're so cute when you puff up your feathers."
Blake's frown faded as he let out a defeated sigh. "I'm not cute." He said, rolling his eyes. It felt like he'd been repeating that over and over all day! Ace didn't seem to understand that yesterday Blake was trying to murder him. Then again, everything had happened pretty fast. One day he was an R.A.C. soldier and today he was… Blake. Just normal Blake. He didn't quite know how to act since this was the first time he wasn't operating under strict orders.
Ace sighed, "You're right. You're not cute, you're adorable!" he pinched Blake's cheek and sat back down, content in his abilities to annoy.
"You're like the brother I never wanted." Blake tried to say it with venom, but the soft smirk on his face defused any sting his words could've had. He playfully swatted Ace's hands away.
Ace smiled, "Thanks. Also, you're coming to the dance Blake." he pulled Blake's arm and started leading him towards his room, where Ace started rummaging through the drawers, "I'm sure there's something classy in here."
"I don't want to go!" He complained, collapsing on his back on Ace's bed and spreading out his wings, exposing his soft secondary feathers.
Peter set down the ice cream, beginning to follow, "Wait, Ace, can you see if there's anything for me too?" He asked, resting a hand on the doorway.
"I don't want to go!!" Ace mimicked in an extremely high voice that sounded nothing like Blake's.
Ace turned to see Peter, "This is your room too, so….Find it yourself."
"Ow," Peter feigned pitiful offense, "Sky might miss me.." he stifled a smile, trying to guilt trip Ace.
"That's just cold, dude." Blake glared at Ace from where he was lying. "Why don't you help Peter since he actually wants to go." He scoffed. "Also that impression sounded nothing like me!" He whined, playing with his braids.
"What, so you're planning on doing something with her?" Ace grinned at Peter.
Blake let out a loud snort of laughter.
