"Well my dad works a lot. I don't see him a lot, but he's your generic business man." Cade shook his head, smiling. "My mother is a stay at home mom. She home-schools all of us."
"Well my dad works a lot. I don't see him a lot, but he's your generic business man." Cade shook his head, smiling. "My mother is a stay at home mom. She home-schools all of us."
"That must be nice. So, do you want to go into business then, when you're old enough?"
He laughed loudly. "No way. I wanted to be a rebel, but that's not really a steady job. I'd like to be a carpenter or a salesman." Cade leaned forward slightly. "What about you?"
Scarlet mulled over his question, wondering whether or not she should tell him the truth. "I…… I want to be a ballerina or a singer.", she admitted, the tips of her ears turning red. "Stereotypical, I know."
He smiled softly. "Makes sense. You're a great dancer."
Scarlet chewed on the end of her thumbnail, as she always did when she was anxious, looking at the ground. "Thanks.", she said quietly, flattered and flustered. "And you're not bad for someone who learned two days ago."
"I'll let you in on a secret." He leaned in a little more. "That's not the first time I've danced. My little sisters took dance classes and….well, I had to dance with them because they were too scared to do it by themselves."
Scarlet's pulse quickened ever so slightly when he leaned closer, but she gave him a teasing smile. "So you lied to me! I'm offended!", she said in obviously fake snooty shock.
Cade rolled his eyes at her. "I didn't lie. I just avoided the truth."
"I guess you'll have to make it up to me, then." She raised her eyebrows playfully. Did I just flirt with him?!?!?!?!? What has gotten into me?!
He tried to hide his shock. Did someone just…flirt with me? Wow…that's a first… Cade smirked at her. "Alright. I'm okay with that."
Crap. What do I say now?!?! The little smirk of his sent her pulse racing, but she hid it (barely). "What exactly do you have in mind_"
Shoot. This is going somewhere…. Cade chuckled. "I'm not sure. There's always the possibility of dancing…food…" Crapcrapcrapcrapcrapcrap…..that was terrible…
"Keep going, I'm interested." She tried for a smile.
There needs to be more? Cade tried to hide his nervousness with a small grin. "Watch the sunset. Stargaze."
"I'm good with the second last one." She refrained from biting her thumbnail again.
"Okay, sunset it is."
Scarlet had no idea what to say next. She leaned back on the couch, doing her best to seem noncholant and promtly failing.
Cade tried to hide his nervousness. "You seem giddy. If that's the right word."
"I– I guess. Yes." She swallowed. "Either you're just good at reading people or I'm terrible at hiding my emotions. You seem pretty noncholant, maybe a bit nervous."
"You're just bad at hiding your emotions." Cade ignored the second part of her sentence.
She laughed nervously. "Yeah. That's never really benefitted me. Unless I'm dancing, that is."
He felt his smile widen, realizing that he wasn't the only nervous one. Oh god…I've never done this before. I…I can't screw this up, this is Scarlet….
The faint blush on Scarlet's cheeks deepened slightly. "Unfortunately, I won't really get to be one. A dancer, that is.", she told him to distract from her obvious flusteredness.
He noticed the blush, feeling his face turn a little pink. "Why not?"
