"They are telling us to skin deer for hide." Mihaka replied.
"They are telling us to skin deer for hide." Mihaka replied.
(what? skin deer? lol)
"What?" Dara asked, her eyes wide.
"I said, to skin deer. Let's do it before they whip us."
"I don't know how to skin deer," Dara protested. "Why do we have to skin deer?"
"For them. We are captives, ya know."
"I'll show you. Here, take the knife, cut here and here." she said, indicating two spots.
Dara did as instructed. She wasn't squeamish or anything –she'd dissected too many animals, both real and fake, to have any reaction. It was still weird, though. Once they finished, the warriors tied them up again. They barked out more orders, but this time Dara could guess what they meant. It was time to go to the village.
Celestia winced as a thorny branch cut at her skin. Her legs had started to ache, too, which wasn’t a good sign. They had just healed and Celestia was straining them too much. Still, she kept going, following the fox who lead her to the great serpent. The floor was muddy and slippery, and it took a lot of Celestia to keep herself on her feet. She could hear the running water ahead; hopefully, it was the serpent’ home.
The fox then stopped in its tracks, and Celestia, unable to stop in time as she was thinking, slipped. She didn’t have time to prepare herself as the mud thickened and she found herself slipping into the water.
The last thing she remembered was the chilling cold water and the feeling of something hard wrapped around her stomach before she fell into the darkness that awaited her.
(Hey, how do you post pictures into rps?)
(I just copy the link of pictures on Pinterest)
Robin and Skye sat by a tree, awaiting Cels' return. Robin's hand that had covered the wound was red with his own blood now, and the bandage matched. He tried to distract himself from the pain by looking at his surroundings and focusing on not thinking about his parents, the crash, or how many ways he could die here.
When Celestia came to, she felt drenched, but not cold. She sat up, her head pounding and legs aching and noticed she was in a cave, rushing water filling her ears again. When she was up in a comfortable way, she looked up and froze.
In front of her, hovering in the air, was a giant… snake. No, not a snake. It looked like a dragon, but not like one. It looked like it had red scales, but the skin seemed to be smooth. Its teeth were sharp, eyes large and dangerous, its tail (?) slapping the air.
For a moment, Celestia remained frozen. But as the time passed, she felt excitement course through her.
"You're real," she whispered in shock and excitement. "I always thought you were a folktale, but you're really real…"
The creature let out a puff of smoke, a growl emitting deep within its throat, but Celestia was transfixed.
"You're not at all like the stories describe you," she went on, standing up to have a closer look. "They described you as a serpent, as big as a three-story house, but you… you're bigger than that!"
Foolish human, a deep voice rang in her head. They do not know of my existence. I 'am' a mere folktale to them.
Celestia's eyes widened even more.
"You… you can talk!" she exclaimed. "What are you? You aren't a dragon. You aren't a serpent. So what are you?"
The creature let out another puff of smoke, but it did not answer. It did not deject Celestia at all. She had found a way to save her friends. Nothing else seemed to matter anymore.
(sorry! This is super long)
(Anyone on?)
(I am but I kinda need Skye or someone to respond I think?)
(I am but I already went its your turn I guess @Abigail Dara)
(Can't post, sorry! Just bumping this back to page 1.)
(Hey, I'm back!)
(Is anyone here? @SorceressWriter are you able to post?)
(I'm here!)
"Skye? W-when is Celestia coming back? Is she coming back?" Robin turned towards Skye, looking worried.
Celestia couldn’t stop grinning. She couldn’t believe her luck! The mystical creature her family had told her tales of… she finally found it!
“What’s your name?” Celestia inquired, giddy, excited like a little girl. She took a tentative step forward, but when the creature did nothing, she grew at ease and decided it was okay to approach.
Celestia held out a hand, slowly touching the creature’s skin, feeling the smooth texture of its back against her fingers.
I do not have a name, replied the creature. We are not like humans, girl.
Celestia frowned.
“They called you Argenti, ‘silver’ in Latin,” Celestia murmured.
State your purpose, girl.
The carefree expression immediately dropped from her features as she remembered what she came here for.
“My friends,” she said. “Please, I need your help to save them.”
Argenti raised its brow, eyes blank.
What benefit would that give me, girl?
“My name is Celestia, not ‘girl,’” Celestia looked at it in the eye. “The people living here… they threaten your territory. If you help, we could get rid of them. Your island would be safe. You’d be its ruler once again.”
As if angered, the creature’s face hardened, smoke blowing out of its nostrils.
Do you see me as weak, girl? Do you think I cannot defeat worthless humans like yourself?
Celestia winced.
“Please, they’ll kill my friends,” Celestia pleaded. “We have a child. He’s a boy! If not for us, do it for him!”
The last time I helped a human was a century ago, Argenti said. I was foolish to trust him. He binded me to himself, stealing my divine powers and using it for his own needs. Leave, girl, before I decide to make you my lunch.
Tears came to Celestia’s eyes as he rebuffed her cry for help. The whole trip was a waste!
“Why did you save me, then?” she demanded. “Why didn’t you let me drown?!”
The creature said nothing in reply. There was one last thing Celestia wanted to try before she joined the others, but she didn’t know if it would work or not.
“What if… what if we try a blood oath?”
(I'M HERE, I'M HERE!)
"Soon. She'll be back soon," Skye assured the younger boy, but she said it as much for her own benefit as for his. She fervently hoped that Celestia would get back soon, she was starting to worry about her.
Robin looked down at his bandage and grimaced. It was no longer visible, having been soaked through with his blood. It was very painful, but he bit his lip so he wouldn't express it.
"Skye, Robin!" Celestia ran into the clearing she had left Robin and Skye in, relief spreading through her when she saw that they were where she had left them. "You're okay!"
"Ohthankgoodness," Skye breathed when she saw Cels. "We were starting to worry about you!"
