i just developed a new found love for a certain dnd monster, so this is all about mimics (at first). it's not dnd so you don't need your dice or anything (unless you really want to ig), but i am dming, so don't worry about keeping the plot going cause i'll handle that. i'll also be using the classic dnd rule set/world btw

rifendale, the realm of the living, has been in turmoil for the past twenty seven years.
many monsters and creatures of evil have banded together to fight the humanoid races taking countless lives in their wake. only eight places are left where people are truly safe from the horrors of the outside, places known as 'the havens'.
many people speculate that the non-humanoids, who most call 'the beasts', are angry for always being considered lower than the rest of the races, angry from watching their families and comrades getting butchered for supplies and some of the folk agree with them, joining their side and becoming wraiths and ghouls.
others say this is the doing of a god, one that was angry because they couldn't rule over all the races and decided to eradicate them instead. the people who believe this made pacts with fiends and demons in a desperate attempt to survive.
many other rumors have been flying around for years but no one can fully confirm the truth.
but the fact still stands, in these dark times it's the folk vs. the beasts,

backstory: Shunned from most other mimics, as they don't like getting overful, so they interact with adventures when she isn't hungry. So she took form of a chest, hiding in a popular dungeon.
important items (i.e. magic items, items of personal significance etc.): the one thing she really loves from trading with adventurers is a small little rat plush. She also has a bunch of strange trinkets, and all the wealth the adventurers she ate had on them.

other: she likes staying relatively small, and enjoys not going insane by interacting from other people.

backstory: Left home quite early to go study magic across the land, feeling more at home studying spells then at home. He met a spellbook mimic, who became one of his first friends, and steadfast companion.
important items (i.e. magic items, items of personal significance etc.): A spellbook mimic companion, a arcane focus, notebook to write down thoughts and plans
companions (pets, friends, family, enemies, people traveling with you(other than players), people you left behind etc.): A spellbook Mimic named Jerome is his only companion, and Max prefers it that way.
Other: Enjoys reading YA novels in his free time as well. Is sympathetic to mimics, and has met quite a few on his travels.
the wizards and mages training academy max attended was located 30 miles from Valdeludo Magicae, or as it was called by most people, Spellbound.
it was the biggest haven uptodate, mostly because it had a spellcaster dominated population and all 'beasts' were very strictly prohibited, any beats caught there would be killed or imprisoned, and anyone found guilty of helping them were either imprisoned or exiled.
the academy is an extension of Spellbound, placed outside the borders to allow the students to be trained in proper handling and destruction of beasts among other things, without bringing beasts into the haven itself, although, being so far out from Spellbound the usual laws tended to waver.
max, and his class of seven, now had to go into dungeons and make it out with something of value, with supervision of course, as apart of the final exam, a test held at the end of each year to evaluate how much the students have learned.
max, two of his classmates and a chaperone, were supposed to enter 'The caves of Beshaba'.
the dungeon is a network of caves. there are rumors of valuable treasures inside from when people worshipped Beshaba, the god of misfortune.
there are two days to practice and prepare before your departure, your classmates are excited and so is even the chaperone, the young substitute teacher.

appearance: tall (5'11) dark blue skin with white-ish blue hair and blacked-out eyes with gold iris's, they have two long sharp horns coming out of their forehead that get progressively darker as they go up, they wear a lot of silver jewelry, they have a tail that ends in a spear that almost looks like a heart, they wear black boots, black pants, and a tight black crop-top accompanied by a black cape that drapes over one of their shoulders. they always wear a satchel on a belt that has all of their needed traveling items

backstory: they were abandoned as a baby and was found by a lovely orc couple who raised him but they died in a fire when he was out one day, they often do quest's for extra money but want a group to be apart of
important items (i.e. magic items, items of personal significance etc.): a gold amulet that hangs around their neck, it's the only thing he was found with as a baby and it's very special to him, it also allows him to have the power of teleporting
