He hesitated, Some of his closest friends didn’t even know, “They umm they pay me to sing. Entertain I suppose,” he shrugged like it wasn’t a big deal.

"Are they… expecting you to sing now?" Paige glanced around.
"Oh, no. Not unless I want to. I work after school and on Saturdays or whenever I want."
"Oh," Paige smiled. Her gaze turned to the dance floor.
Darren looked at Paige then to the dance floor, "You like dancing?"
"Like? I like dancing?" She giggled, watching couples twirl gracefully. "Understatement of the century, Mr Quarterback."
He smiled and stood in front of her with a hand reached out to her, "You wanna dance,"
Paige smiled and took his hand, sliding out of the seat. The last song just ended, replacing the flamboyant energy with a violin filled slow-dance.
He smiled at the perfect timing in the music change as he pulled Paige onto the floor. He held her waist pulling her close to himself as he swayed to the music.
Paige knew the steps of a waltz, so her feet just naturally did them. She was born to dance. She barely thought about her toes gracing the floor.
Darren walked in step with her, he took a dance class with his mom when he was younger so they could dance at a wedding or something. He smiled at Paige.
Paige smiled shyly up at Darren and realized that they were nearly the only ones on the dance floor.
He pulled her a little closer, "Is this better than school?"
"Yes," Paige agreed. A thought struck her. "Darren… how do you hold your position as the starting Varsity quarterback when you ditch school most of the time?"
He shrugged, “Thats my secret.”
Paige frowned. She looked around to find that all of the other couples were gone, off to get a drink or take a quick break. "Darren, we're the only ones."
Darren looked around and a smile cracked on his face, “Does that bother you?” He pulled her in closer and continued to dance.
Um… HECK YEAH! MAYBE JUST A LITTLE! "No, I was born to dance," Paige answered, adding several steps to her movements, not just the mandatory dance. Why did she feel like she was a new person around Darren?
He put his face close to hers, so close he could feel her breath, "Is that so?" this started off as innocent fun but he was actually starting to like this girl.
"Yes," Paige murmured. Darren's face was so close… they were only inches away.
"So you'd be prepared for anything then?" He smiled still close.
Paige smirked. "Depends what you've got on your mind." Where was this coming from?!
Darren had a mischievous look painted on his face, suddenly he spun her around and dipped her, he held her up in his arms, leaning over so their faces were just as close as before.
Paige was flexible and melted into Darren's movements. His face got close again. Paige felt the weight of every eye in the restaurant on them. It must've been her imagination, but she thought that she heard the volume of the music increase.
He pulled her back up to a normal position and nodded, "Impressive," He smiled.
