Paige's right hand went for his head, while her left wrote crookedly on his back 'I love you' over and over.
The movie reached a loud action scene causing him to jump out of the kiss, it was almost over, "Look we weren't paying attention for like half of that,"
Paige blushed, hoping that it was dark enough that he couldn't see. "Uh, yeah…"
"That's okay, I had a good time," He laughed.
"Me too," Paige agreed. Her smile was soft and fragile. Her eyes shined happily, giving her statement a solid foundation. "What now?"
"Whatever you want… I'm used to being alone and bored so having beautiful company is new for me,"
Paige shook her head. "How many times do I have to tell you? I'm not… I'm not beautiful."
"I think you are and you can't tell me what to think," He smiled and kissed her nose.
"But I'm not. And you'd just be believing an awful lie," Paige said, blinking shyly when his lips touched her nose.
"But I think it's a wonderful truth and there is no evidence proving me wrong, so now I am a devout believer,"
"No one has ever told me that I was beautiful before."
"Maybe you don't let people see how beautiful you are so they never get the chance to see,"
"No, I'm just a nerd. No one ever looks at nerds," Paige sighed, looking down at her hands.
"I like it, I think it's cute and maybe people should open their eyes,"
"Oh, now I'm cute too?" Paige rolled her eyes.
"You could just take my compliment," he squinted with a smile.
"Or I could believe in the form truth that God created me to be a nerd and not beautiful."
"Maybe God made you a dork and now you're adorkable…" He held in a laugh.
Paige pressed her laugh down. "I'm an ugly, nerd freak."
"Lies. I refuse to listen," He looked back at the screen.
"I'm a…" The insult died at her lips. It was true - no one noticed the nerds… except for nerds.
"Sorry, I'm busy tuning out your self-deprecating lies. I can't hear you until you say something to accept yourself as the way you truly are,"
She tried not to cry. Don't let him see you cry. She focused intently on the movie.
Darren looked down and held her hand, was it too soon to joke around?
Paige gripped his hand tightly, not not too much. 5…4…3…2…1… And now you're fine. She took a deep breath and smiled gently.
Darren smiled, her grip was tight but he liked it, "Besides, I think you'd be upset if I lied and called you ugly,"
