"Hey, I was going to be in the army, I was trained for this." She quipped back, slinging her backpack over her shoulder before kicking another Screamer down the ladder. The Army, that was such a long time ago, if these people were alive, would it be possible that the military set up some kind of base or zone?
Jess mumbled something under his breath that obviously wasnt nice.
"I flesh wound. I can walk perfectly fine and this guy…well if he wanted to live the hes gon a have to man up and run. If you guys didnt listen to anything I said before, they're only going to keep coming and use up our energy. Plus we cant take on two screamers the size of houses. They will crush us if we stay in this attic." He says before dodging a bigger one and basically sawing its head off and throwing it at a smaller one coming towards him, stunning it. They kept coming from the trees behind the houses.

JROTC is Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps, its basically a club that high schoolers can join in order to help accumulate them to the military. So like they train them and stuff.)

Somehow Adrien managed to snap out of it quick enough to glare down everyone, "Number one, I'll be fine, I can just go now. I'll just need to find another spot to work, they sort of took over my lab. Number two, I am not a man, not as important, but I felt like it needed to be said, I am non-binary, thank you very much. And lastly, since I will be moving on, you may not have my gun, I need that to protect myself until I can finally figure out something to work against these Screamers." They said quietly as they shot at a Screamer, "Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to look for a way out." They began to back away from the group then turned and saw a Screamer moving towards them, "Or maybe not, perhaps with other humans is a good idea too."
"Kid are you stupid? A bigger group may attract more Screamers but at least we have a better chance of survival. I have been living in a house near the edge of town, not too far from here. If the Barn is too far from here, we can use the rooftops to get to the house and camp out there." Caelen said gruffly. He cut another one that came too close and kicked it down before decapitation and throw the head away.
"I happen to be an adult, and yes I know that, I have been studying these creatures for a while with my lab partner before he went missing." Adrien muttered back at Caelen, "As I should have mentioned earlier, I was supposed to be one of the scientists studying Screamers before the government shut everything down. I was working to destroy them, okay? So just don't yell at me." They were getting a bit annoyed, perhaps they should have just stayed in their apartment and killed the screamer, things would be a bit better for them now if they had.

Nina finished collecting her supplies and listened to them for a minute, then ventured to speak up. "Guys, let's not argue right now, okay? We need to work together or we'll be swamped by these things. Jess, how far away is the barn exactly, and Caelen, how far away is your house? I think we should spend the night in the one that's closest and sturdiest, then make a permanent decision in the morning. How does that sound?"
"Ok asshole." She snarled under her breath before speak out loud. "Alright everyone, shut the fuck up, let's think this through, we have 3 options, We can either wait this out until morning, but there is a chance that we'll be overwhelmed. Or we can go to the barn or the house, but there is a big chance we'll also be overrun or ambushed." She explained,

(Jess is hurt but not bad. Hes tough and wont let that slow him down so I wouldnt consider him injured until they settle down because it's not going to affect their speed much.)
Jess sighed "yeah, the barnes probably a thirty minute walk, so we should probably go to the house. Also. I wouldnt be using guns a lot. Unless on the bigger ones, its I'll advised. Itll only attract more and it the bullets dont blow up the head, or break one of its legs, the bastards are going to absorb the bullets. Itll stun them until you can get near them, but I would put the gun back and get a knife" he says annoyed. No he didnt study them per say. But hes fought plenty of these things and learned from his mistakes. Learning what to do and what not to do.

"Alright, great to see that we have finally reached a census, now let me just-" Valerie banged the flashlight that was in her bag on her hand until it flickered on, shining through the almost pitch black light. "There we go, ok people, let's get a move on." She stated, sliding down the ladder, now on a lookout for more Screamers.
(Ohh, it's basically like cadets here. Apologies if I seemed to be rude, I was genuinely curious how a 16 year old could lift another 16 year old with ease)
"This way people." Caelen called, stabbing a screamer and peeking through few streets and alleys. "The road to safety is almost a labyrinth if you don't travel often. So stick close."
Jess stuck close, but near the back, making sure nothing snuck up on them. Nothing so far as they've killed a good amount.
Though a few minutes in, he felt something touch his leg. When he looked down and saw a thick ashtray worm slithering up his leg, he quickly shook it off and stomped on it. Though it was about 2 feet long and about as thick as his own leg, before it could let out its pitiful squeal, he killed it will a few stomps.
"Man…bugs creepy me out but that's gonna give me nightmares" he mumbled angrily to himself, shivers going up his spine
Nina stayed near the middle of the group, doing her best to keep an eye on everyone at once. It was starting to occur to her that if she was going to be a part of this noisy group, they were going to have many more encounters with Screamers, and if that was the case, she really needed to learn at least basic self-defense. Maybe she could ask one of her new friends to teach her once they were safe and well-rested.
When she saw the worm trying to take a bite out of Jess, she stifled a yelp. "What is that?"
