Archer shrugged. “That works. I think I know some things that the others eat.” His eyes still darted around anxiously and he was fidgeting, but otherwise more or less okay now.
Archer shrugged. “That works. I think I know some things that the others eat.” His eyes still darted around anxiously and he was fidgeting, but otherwise more or less okay now.
"Oh, you do? Thanks. I don't really pay attention to what they eat, I guess."
“Eh, sometimes I notice, especially if it’s something that I used to like,” he commented. “Besides, the grocery store has normal food, right? So it’s not like they can’t eat the food there. As far as I know none of them are allergic to dairy or anything.”
"Right, right. Are we out of peanut butter? I normally keep track of that, but I guess I forgot." He walked in through the automatic doors, looking at Archer. "Even if we're not.. still good to know you have more than you need, right?"
“Whoa…these doors are so cool,” Archer exclaimed, staring at automatic doors in awe. “And yeah, good thinking. Better to have extra than not enough.”
"They're just auto- oh yeah, you haven't seen 'em before. I like 'm a lot better, they're good 'cause I don't like to take the carts out the store, so I don't need to figure out how to open the door with grocery bags." He nodded as he spoke, seemingly in agreement with himself as he did so.
“Wow…all of this technology makes me feel so out of touch,” he mumbled, glancing at the doors again in wonder. “It sounds nice though. It’s kind of fun.” He grinned.
"It's pretty nice. Convenience 'n all that jazz." Klaus started towards the produce section, getting a plastic bag or two for food.
Archer followed curiously, trying not to look so much like he had never seen a modern grocery store before, though it was apparent that acting was not his strong suit. “Mmm,” he responded, unsure exactly how to reply. He studied the different, everyday technology, still looking baffled by it. “This is astounding.”
"I guess it is. I didn't really think about it like that b'fore.. how'd you get food when you were..?" He winced a little at his own question as he thought over it. "If yer comfr'ble with talkin' about it, sorry if I'm pryin'."
“You mean before I was a ghost? It was actually a curse…” he admitted, turning back to look at Klaus for a moment. “Anyway, grocery stores existed, but it wasn’t the same. There weren’t really popular yet, so there were these things called country stores. Or if you were wealthy, you could get a maid or butler to do it.” He shrugged. “So I get the concept, it’s mostly the modern technology that is so foreign to me.”
(lol that may not be super historically accurate but i tried)
(Ah, it's alright! Getting that info can be tough as shit sometimes)
"Curse.. damn, sorry, dude. But that's interestin', the whole country store thing. I keep forgettin' people had maids 'n shit."
Archer laughed. “I understand that. I was never affluent enough to afford one,” he said offhandedly. “But the world is a lot different now, and honestly it’s a tad scary, if I’m being honest.”
"Doesn'seem like a whole lot were." He blinked, trying to think over Archer's statement. "Well.. yeah, I guess so? Never thought of it as scary, just.. y'know. Earth. Hey, do these blueberries look okay to you?"
“They look fine,” he said, studying them quickly. They looked delicious, but he couldn’t feel hunger and even if he could, the blueberries would go right through him. He realized that he actually missed being able to eat. “What else should we get?”
"Thanks." He set them in his handbasket. "Fuck, uh. I don't know. I really need to eat, like, meat, but eating humans is frowned upon here and the others get expensive fast, so that's cool."
“Yeah, I’d say eating humans is bad,” Archer agreed with a nod. “Do they eat normal human food? I can work with that. I used to eat normal human food too.”
“I’d disagree with you, but I don’t got the time to argue with you ‘n explain my dietary needs… I think they eat normal shit..”
Archer shrugged. “Great, because that’s what they’re getting. I’ll just get whatever I think they’d enjoy then.”
“Yeh, alright. Just.. nothing too expensive, I still have to pay bills this month.” He sounded like he was joking, but his face was dead serious. “I’d say.. $50 max for all of us.”
“$50?” Archer exclaimed. “That’s a lot for some groceries. Wow, this should be fun!” He grinned, forgetting about inflation.
"$50 is.. barely anything." Klaus raised his eyebrows at him. "Especially not for groceries."
“Shit, really?” Archer asked, frowning in thought. “I really need to get out more.”
"You really do. What's $50 like in the 1910s? Like.. $200? I don't know the inflation shit."
Archer shrugged. “I barely know what $50 is worth now, so I don’t think I’d be much help. Anyway, better late than never, am I right?”
