“I would absolutely strut around campus in a ballgown if I could. It would do wonders for my self esteem.” Gwen exclaimed, dramatically flipping her hair. “Besides you already rock the whole dress thing.” She waved Marla off.

(It’s almost 3am and I have school tomorrow.. sorry, but I should probably sleep. Gnight, will you be on tomorrow?)
Marla’s heart skipped a beat, best rushing to her cheeks. “O-Oh— thank you. Thanks. I, uh, I’m sure you do too.”
(I totally get it! The only reason I’m awake right now is because I’m multitasking while I write an essay. I’ll be on tomorrow night probably starting around 3 PM.)
Gwen shrugged. “I’m more of a flannel shirts and jeans kinda girl.” She shrugged. “You never know, I guess.”
(Oof
G’morning)
“You never know,” Marla agreed, thinking that Gwen would, in fact, look gorgeous in a gown.
Gwen attempted to contain her excitement as they walked. She had noticed the extra dandelions growing through the sidewalk cracks wherever she stepped. “How many swans are there?” She asked curiously.
(Morning!)
(How’re you?)
Marla took notice as well, a soft smile on her lips as more and more yellow flowers popped up. “I haven’t counted, but definitely more than ten. Most are white, but there’s one black one that I’ve seen.”
(It’s been a busy day, so tired. Just so you know I won’t be on much from around 1-3:30. How’re you?)
Gwen’s jaw dropped. “I didn’t even know swans loeved together! It’s like magic! Well it probably is but…” She trailed off, shrugging.
(got it, and you should probably get some rest tonight
I almost threw up several times this morning, which might sound awful but it means no school. So yeah. Lol)
"Yeah, probably." Marla stifled a giggle, afraid she'd sound annoying. "We'll be there in a few minutes…"

(I definitely will, luckily I don’t have that much homework tonight. I’m sorry you aren’t feeling well! Although I’m glad you got to escape from school for a day!)
“Cool.” Gwen allowed herself to lapse into silence and enjoy the breeze as they walked.
(thanks uwu, and lol I'm glad too)
A few minutes later, the two girls crested a hill– and the sight they saw spread out before them was spectacular. A huge expanse of glittering, clear waters beneath a stretch of nearly cloudless sky, disrupted only by smooth, grew rocks running across it in an almost web-like pattern that resembled a snowflake. Graceful, white creatures floated serenely across it (swans), venturing surprisingly close to the students dotting the shore of the lake.
“Oh my gods.” Gwen gasped at the sight, halting in her tracks as she tried to process everything at once. “This is… This is incredible.” She whispered in awe, her eyes focused on the lake.
A ridiculously large smile made its way onto Marla's face at Gwen's awe. "You like it that much?" she asked tentatively, biting down on her lower lip.
“Do you have any idea how many types of flowers are over here? I can’t believe I didn’t know about this place!” Gwen exclaimed, smiling widely. “Thanks for bringing me.”
Marla flushed gently, averting her eyes for a split second, unable to take Gwen's huge smile without blushing furiously. "No problem– Anytime. I– I'm glad you liked it."
“You managed to make my coffee place look lame.” Gwen mock complained, scanning the area. “Can we head down to the water?”
"Definitely." Marla was an inch away from grabbing hold of Gwen's hand, but decided firmly against it and started down the hill instead. "And the coffee shop was great!"
Gwen was thrilled to be around so much nature outside of the greenhouse. She was a bit nervous being around so many other students, but she brushed it off, trusting Marla’s judgement on this one. “No, no. I think it’s a official. A planetarium and now this! You know all the best spots to hang out.”
Marla shrugged bashfully, rubbing at the back of her neck. "I- I guess.. Maybe I just got lucky with my dorm room, I dunno."
“No kidding! I have a barn and a greenhouse!” Gwen sat down at the bottom of the hill, eyeing the swans.
Marla reached into her handbag with a shrug, rummaging around before her hand emerged holding a brown paper bag. "Breadcrumbs, to feed them. Here, you take it."
“You’re coming with me.” Gwen grabbed ahold of Marala’s wrist, trying to hide the blush staining her cheeks.
(I love how awkward they both are)
A moment later, the deep blush on Marla's cheeks matched Gwen's perfectly. She couldn't help herself, couldn't stop herself from bumping her shoulder against the other woman's as she went past, pulling her newfound friend towards the lake.
Gwen grinned and followed along excitedly. “And they say clubbing is fun. Clearly not enough people are giving this a try.”
"I've…. never actually been clubbing," she admitted, the tips of her ears pink. "But yes, I agree completely."
