His eyelids fluttered open and he looked up at Axel's face. "You're really soft. Like a pillow. If I ever fall asleep again, remind me to fall asleep with you." Luka sat up, blowing his hair out of his face.
"Oh, thanks," Axel stammered, rubbing the back of his neck nervously as he looked down at Luka, a crooked grin spread across his lips. God, why am I getting so flustered. . .
"What's your guys' favorite food? I like mac & cheese and tuna sandwiches. Not together, though. Oh, and bread sticks." Luka counted them out on his fingers.
"Uh go ahead," Thorn responded. An elf? She'd never been called that before. She wondered what question the girl might ask.
Kaz turned to look at him now, frowning lightly. "Sorry, what? Are you serious? Are they like, trapping you here or something? Because if they are I will gladly start turning people into crispy fries," he said, letting a spark of dull purple electricity flash across his fingertips for effect
“No, no,” Vaughn murmured, shaking his head as he spoke. “I’ve been staying here. I would love to leave, but the doctors say I’m not allowed. They said I’m not mentally fit to go out into the world yet,” he explained slowly.
She blushed a little. "Well. I'm kind of an artist. Do you think I could draw you?" She started getting excited again. "I'll draw it mostly gray scale so the color focus can be on your eyes. It'd be amazing. Please?"
"Yeah of course," Thorn smiled. Then a thought occurred to her, "Don't you need good lighting for that? It may be a bit hard with my condition."
"Well. Guess we're stuck in this hellhole together then. Maybe we got lucky and we got rooms in the same hall or something, because if I don't have at least one person I know here I will legitimately lose my goddamn mind," Kaz said, beginning to tap his foot quietly against the floor
River looked up “what are you guys talking about?” She asked (no seriously though)
"Nah, any lighting's good," Lana replied. She couldn't count how many times she'd lain under the window with the sliver of a moon as the only light to draw by. Her parents hardly ever paid the light bill. She'd gotten really good at drawing in the dark as well as the light. "More shadows and weird lighting effects to play with," she finished with a smile.
"What's your guys' favorite food? I like mac & cheese and tuna sandwiches. Not together, though. Oh, and bread sticks." Luka counted them out on his fingers.
Axel chuckled lightly and shook his head faintly at the absurdity of the question. "Well, I like pizza, I guess," He shrugged, realizing that he hadn't eaten a lot since his stay at the hospital. Apparently, he needed to stay because the doctors were convinced that he was 'depressed.' He smiled in addition to his response, watching Luka count off on his fingers.
"Oh, I love cotton candy," Marlo exclaimed, brushing a lightly colored strand of hair behind her ear as she leaned forward in excitement.
Thorn felt the corners of her mouth creep up higher. Maybe the two could be friends, "That's great! Sorry, it's just people have asked before. Once they learn I can't be in sunlight they turn they're nose up and walk away."
Luka nodded, leaning back into his seat. "Favorite color schemes? I like the color scheme of blood and gold. Not that I'm weird or anything."

Lana posed dramatically. "Real artists can draw in any lighting!" she said with a fake french accent.
Thorn laughed, "That is great. You should speak like that all the time."
"The thing about me and accents," she said, still relatively french-like, "is that after a while…" her accent began to turn slightly southern, "I switch accents randomly." By the end of her sentence, she sounded like a blend of Australian and New Yorker. "See what I mean?"
Thorn continued laughing, "That is amazing. You have to have some sort of ability to do that."
"It's this weird condition called 'watching too much TV and then shaping my personality to be a blend of all my favorite characters'," Lana explained with a laugh. "Literally it was horrible to be around me after I watched Doctor Who. British for months."
"Well. Guess we're stuck in this hellhole together then. Maybe we got lucky and we got rooms in the same hall or something, because if I don't have at least one person I know here I will legitimately lose my goddamn mind," Kaz said, beginning to tap his foot quietly against the floor
“Mhm, I agree. I haven’t gotten to know anyone here, haven’t even made a single goddamn effort to,” Vaughn said, running a hand over the shorter section of his hair as he looked around the room at other people.
Luka nodded, leaning back into his seat. "Favorite color schemes? I like the color scheme of blood and gold. Not that I'm weird or anything."
Axel shrugged, but paused to think. "I like. . . sea green and gold." He finally said, glancing over at Marlo and raising a brow in question.
"I love every color, but yellow is my favorite. Like sunflower yellow," She explained, a bright grin lighting her features up.
"Oh my god, Marlo, you're like the complete opposite of my adoptive sister who went to go join the army. She's a sergeant now, total badass." He pulled out his phone. "I have a few pictures of her, wanna see?"

Thorn smiled at her, "You have to had mastered a British accent then. Can I hear it?"
"Yeah, they sort of all look like sad sacks with daddy issues and 'Hello, my name is Carl, and I'm an alcoholic,'" Kaz droned, cracking a smile as he joked around. If he was stuck in this hellhole, he was going to enjoy himself before he inevitably tried to find a way to off himself again

Marlo nodded excitedly and leaned in next to Luka, her gaze focused intently on his phone's screen. Axel looked over Luka's shoulder as well, rubbing his mismatched eyes tiredly as he glanced down. "Total badass . . . she sounds cool," He answered, looking up at the boy's face.
She switched into the accent effortlessly. "This is one I can actually do. I mean, if an actual, genuine Brit heard me they'd probably laugh, but it tricked my mates." She giggled.
